Hey, everyone! Welcome back to my blog! I have actually stated this several times, but just in case you didn’t know, I am currently writing a novel, and I am about 40,000 words in! I’ve loved to make stories ever since preschool, and I plan for my novel to become a New York Times Bestseller! ✨
Now, I know that there are a lot of people who want to become authors, one day. Sometimes, it can be hard to finish your book, especially when you have a busy life. However, I wanted to help other writers with that by sharing these 3 Tips on How to Write a Great Novel!
So, let’s get started!
- Don’t make your characters perfect. ✨
Sometimes, when writing a fiction book, we can forget that we want our audience to fall in love with our characters, and for our characters to encourage them to want more and more of our story. People often enjoy the characters who are relatable the most. Seeing or reading about someone on TV or in a novel who has problems, characteristics, and quirks can make people feel more confident and comfortable about themselves. Therefore, it’s best not to make characters who have perfect personalities or lives, because, let’s be real, no human-being is perfect.

2. Make reasonable goals. ✨
A lot of times, the reason why we may stop working on our novels for a while is because we are setting goals for ourselves that are too hard to reach. Make sure that you set a reasonable goal for yourself. For example, if I set a goal it is usually between 100-250 words on a week day, and 250-500 words on the weekend. Remember to base your goals on how busy you are, that way it is easier for you to actually reach them.

3. Try to end chapters with cliffhangers. ✨
A lot of great novels out there are the types that you cannot put down. In order to achieve this, it is a great idea to end chapters with a cliffhanger, or an ending that leaves the audience with a sense of suspense. By doing so, it makes your audience want to read the beginning of next chapter to see what happens next and, if they’re like me, finish the rest of the chapter, as well. If you did this correctly, chances are before they know it, they’ll be reading your next book!

Okay, everyone, I hope that you enjoyed those 3 Tips on How to Write a Great Novel. If you create characters with quirks, make reasonable goals for yourself, and end chapters with cliffhangers, then I’m sure that you will see that your novel has changed for the better!
Have a creative, happy, and relaxing day, everyone! ✨
