Have you ever had to write a book report, and you set a deadline to finish it? The truth is, deadlines can be tough to stick to, especially when we stare at the long list of chapters that we know we have to read. But, like just about anything, reading deadlines are possible to hit!
Here are some tips and tricks to help you get started and successfully reach your deadline!
#1 – Separate your deadline into your goal for each day.
Don’t worry about the whole book that you have to complete, but focus on how many pages, and/or chapters you need to read each day. This method will help take your mind off of the big picture, which can be scary to examine. Instead, it will allow you to get the job done one step at a time.
#2 – Listen to the audiobook.
Let’s be real, chapter books, especially long ones, can be a challenge to read all by yourself. Therefore, if you can, find a copy of the audiobook. Audiobooks for classic novels are usually easy to find on websites like YouTube. This form of literature can allow you to listen to your book without having to flip through the pages, which causes the time to go a lot faster! Just remember to pay attention to the book, while you listen.
#3 – Make sure the deadline is do-able, if you can help it.
Sometimes, reading deadlines are unable to be changed. However, if it is, then make sure you are setting a goal that is actually do-able. Doing too much will cause you to become tired, which is a bad thing with any goal that we set. Don’t overwork yourself if you don’t need to.
#4 – Learn from this experience.
Things can pop up at the last minute, every now and again. Other times, there is possibly something that we could have planned for to prevent such a tight deadline. Is there anything that you could do differently next time? Whatever that may be, take this deadline as a learning experience, and something to think about, in the future.
I hope you all enjoyed these Tips and Tricks for Reading with a Deadline! Remember, try not to wait until the very last minute. It is better to start earlier, and work at a slower pace, than being in a tight crunch. Preparation is the key!
Have an amazing day everyone! ✨
