Is There Anything Wrong with ‘Wanting More?’ | Blogmas Day 14

It can be easy to want more: more money, more followers, more friends, more love (true love), etc. Some things may be materials. Others can be an aspiration or goal that holds a meaning that we can discover if we look deep within.

It is natural to want what we don’t have, at the moment. In fact, some ambitions can be helpful and great goals for the future. They can teach us the value of hard work and help us remember where we came from. If we never aim for a healthy change, especially when we are desperately in need of one, then how can we move forward productively?

Meanwhile, if we do find ourselves wanting more of something, I think a question that we need to ask ourselves is ‘Why do I want this?’

At times, ‘wanting more’ may be us wanting to improve ourselves to become a better and healthier person. It could even be for our family or another great cause. However, other wants may be due to comparison or a lack of self esteem. It could be a lack to see the blessings that Jesus has already placed in our lives.

Asking ourselves why we have a desire is kind of a self-check. If we are making sure that we know why we want something, then it can help us think about our actions. This allows us to make responsible and (morally) right decisions.

Wanting more can be a good thing, depending on our motives and purpose. Subsequently, here’s something to think about the next time you want more of something:

There’s nothing wrong with ‘wanting more,” as long as we take the time to appreciate the many blessings right before our eyes.
