How my family stays hydrated . . . | National Hydration Day

Although we’ve all heard it more than once in our lives, hydration is crucial to a healthy lifestyle. Even though many people don’t like the taste of water, it provides people of all ages with the energy that we need to get through each day. And as a result, our bodies can only go about three days without any water.

Yesterday I spoke about self-care habits to benefit our mental health; a subject that I consider extremely important. However, this still doesn’t hide the fact that our physical well-being is just as important. And one of the most important ways to keep our bodies healthy is . . . you guessed it: drink water!

In honor of National Hydration Day–and to spread awareness about the importance of hydration—I thought that I would show you all how my family keeps water in our systems. Let’s get started!

You may recognize these bottles as the famous sports drink–Gatorade. Believe it or not. this is only what we have in our storage closet: that doesn’t include what we have in our fridge or island cabinets. After COVID-19 started, Goodmommy began to stock up on water, Gatorade, and other necessities. And boy has it come in handy! Our favorite flavors are Fruit Punch, Strawberry Lemonade, Strawberry Watermelon, and Passion Fruit.

Fun fact: water is the main ingredient in all Gatorade. Plus, the brand is so popular because it keeps you hydrated, despite the large variety of delicious flavors. Overall, Gatorade is an option for people who don’t like the taste of water, put still want a beverage that is healthy for their physical health.

However, we should always keep in mind that drinks like Gatorade and Powerade should never serve as replacements for pure water, since that is always the best option, especially for those trying to adjust to a healthier lifestyle.

My family also keeps multiple cases of purified water handy at all times–both for everyday life and in the unlikely occurrence of an emergency. Sure, sports drinks may taste good, but there’s nothing like a refreshing, ice cold class of water; especially on a hot summer day!

Some easy helpful tips for staying hydrated are;

  • Keep reminders around the house to drink more water (sticky notes, images, motivational words, etc.)
  • Buy a cup that measures the amount of water that you need to drink each hour.
  • Incorporate fruits and vegetables (strawberries, lemons, cucumbers, etc.) into your water to give it some flavor.
  • Carry a water bottle with you when you go out of the house.
  • Eat foods that contain large amounts of water–especially fruit!

LET’S CHAT~Do you like to drink water? If not, what do you do to stay hydrated?

Have a happy rest of your day or night, y’all! See you later; and don’t forget to drink your water!
