6 Things I Love to Do on the Weekends [REPOST]

A/N~Hey y’all! It’s Q’Zion! My goodness, was this Friday busy for me. But thank God that I have a three-day weekend since the 5th of September is Labor Day! Anyway, because tonight is the start of the weekend for me, I though I’d repost this list of things that I like to do to make the most of the end of each week. I hope you all enjoy it! ♡

Let’s face it–we all sigh with relief when we go home and/or get finished with work on a Friday. We have a whole 2 days ahead of us to relax and enjoy our weekend. Personally, I’m a HUGE FAN of my weekends, and I do as much work as I can throughout the week to make the most of every Saturday and Sunday. And since the weekend is coming up, I thought it’d be a cool idea to share some of the ways that I like to spend my short vacations. So what are we waiting for? Let’s get into it!

⒈ Go to a Library ♡

Okay, so this one may be a little obvious since most of my followers know how much I love to read. However, reading is one of my favorite activities to do on a weekend. I have a whole 48 hours to start a new book or maybe even finish one that I’ve been procrastinating, for some time. Don’t you just love that feeling when you sat down and finished a book that you haven’t picked up in a while? I sure do!

 Binge My Favorite TV Show

Throughout the week, it’s easy to forget about some of my favorite TV shows, or simply replace watching them with schoolwork, family time, and the occasional naps. When the weekend comes along, I usually spend a couple hours catching up on the new seasons of the shows that I love. And if a new movie just came out on Disney+, it’s not a surprise if we have a family movie night, too.

⒊ Go to Church ♡

One of the perfect ways to start my week and be refreshed before school starts on Monday is fellowshipping and learning the Word in the House of God. Praise and worship, seeing my family and friends, and socializing with other believers is always a blessing and one of the best parts of my week. It makes me feel happier and closer to God when I listen to His Word.

Fun in the Sun at the Beach or Pool

Due to COVID-19, it seriously has been a while since I’ve went to the beach or the pool. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that I love changing into my bathing suit and having some fun in the sun. Since spring is here, and summer is not too far from now, it’s the perfect time of year to hit the beach and go for a swim.

 Bake a New Recipe ♡

Although I don’t get in the kitchen often (at least not to cook or bake) Friday nights and weekends are the perfect opportunity to learn a new recipe and spend time with Goodmommy. For me, cooking can be so relaxing and satisfying. The fact that you can whip up some ingredients, place it in the oven, and take it out to see a masterpiece is always super rewarding. Especially when you get to eat your creation, when your all done.

 Have a Picnic ♡

Is it just me, or does this remind you of that one scene from Tom and Jerry? LOL 🍓🍉🌭🥤

Honestly, I’ve only been to a picnic once in my life, as far as I can recall. But I must say that I love to eat in nice weather, especially in a screened-in patio or on a balcony. You get to admire the sunshine while eating your lunch. Picnicking seems to be pretty similar and great for spring time. Especially on a weekend!

Weekends are a time for us to take a break from work and school and focus on family and the hobbies that we love the most. Therefore, we might as well make the most of every second. Hopefully, this list gave you some inspiration for how you can spend your short vacation.

What are some of your favorite ways to spend the weekends? Feel free to comment down below.

Have a beautiful weekend, everybody! God bless you all, and I will catch you next time! Peace in! ♡

Answering Your Assumptions About Me ♡

Hey, hey, everybody! Happy Monday! ♡

As you can tell by the title, today I will be answering your amazing assumptions about me in celebration of reaching 100 followers and 1,000 likes on The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen. I want to thank all of my supporters, especially my family and friends, for helping me reach this important milestone; I couldn’t have done it without any of you.

I have been super excited to answering all of your responses! So without further ado, let’s get started!

Evin @ A Curly Sue’s Ramblings‘s Questions

1. You traveled out of your country

I have traveled to another state before (a couple of times, actually) but never outside of my country. To be honest, I haven’t even flew in an airplane before lol. But I really love traveling with my family, especially during breaks from school. If I could go to any country outside of my own, it would be either Italy, Spain, India, Canada, and/or Jamaica.

2. You are great at talking with people

Right off the bat, I’m not the type of person to have a long conversation with someone who I don’t know. However, the more I get to know people who I take a liking to, the more I open up to them. In short, I’m not the most talkative around strangers, but I do like to socialize. I have had many pleasant conversations with people, even in larger quantities–therefore, I would say that I communicate extremely well.

3. You have a bookshelf in your room

I sure do! I can see why you would assume this, since I express my love for reading so often in my writing. My 3-tier bookshelf holds about 150 books–about 75% of my collection–most of which I obtained in my early elementary school years. Although I’m not a super sentimental person, the thought of giving them all away doesn’t sit well with me lol. A majority of the books that I read now (novels and graphic novels) are on additional shelving and storage spots that I have in my room. Eventually, I’ll need some more space as my book collection continues to grow, so I’ll probably donate to Goodwill or another nonprofit in a couple years to give me some much-needed space.

4. Your favorite color is red/blue

When people ask me the question “What is your favorite color?” my answer is always a little complicated. My reason? Every color is beautiful and unique, and the spectrum wouldn’t be the same if any one of them were absent. However, I will say that my favorite color right now is purple. I like pink and blue a lot, and purple has a bit of resemblance to both. So I’ll give you 5/10 points for that one. 😉

Thank you so much for your response, Evin! I absolutely loved all of your assumptions–they were so much fun to answer!

Hopefully, this post helped you all get to know me a little better, and maybe even confirm some of the things that you’d assumed about me, too. If you have questions (or assumptions) about me–and I haven’t gotten any from you, so far–feel free to share them in the comments. I would be more than happy to write a PART 2 of this post!

Thanks again for your support! I’ll see you all next time! ♡

Help, Help, Help!!! ♡

Now that I have your attention, let me elaborate on the title. Right now, we have a whopping total of 93 followers!!! YAYY! We are getting so close to reaching 100–and I have a feeling that we will reach that goal much sooner than later.

The last time that I celebrated a follower milestone was at 75 subscribers. For those of you who never saw that post, I did an ABC, All About Me Tag–and you can view that HERE— where I told you all a little bit more about myself. It was a lot of fun to thank you all for your support with such a fun post!

My idea for celebrating 100 followers is something pretty similar to that. Maybe a Q&A (where you guys ask me questions that I answer), or some assumptions about me. I know that I want to do something to help you guys become more familiar with who I am, but I want to see what your ideas are, too.

Feel free to share your thoughts for an 100 follower special, down below.

Have a beautiful and blessed day everyone! God bless you all! ✨

My Summer Bucket List [2022]

What’s up, peeps? Summer break is coming much sooner than later, and that means it’s time to start brainstorming what we can do to pass the next couple months. That’s when the idea came to me…a summer bucket list!

Today, I will be sharing some of the things that I would be happy to accomplish this summer. While this list is purely for entertainment purposes, feel free to use some of the points here as some inspiration for your personal list, as well. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get started!

1. Pay more frequent visits to the library.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve stepped foot into a library. But to be honest, I’m ready to kill that streak–I want some new books! Whether I go to my local library, or add a few books to my personal collection from a bookstore, reading is definitely on the radar for what I want to do this summer.

2. Go to the beach at least once.

Even before COVID hit, me and my family have never been too much of beach-goers. That being said, if there’s any time to hit the beach it’s summertime. Having some fun in the sun will definitely make for a refreshing summer day.

3. Read the Bible more often.

In the mornings, I want to commit my time to God by spending a few minutes reading His Word. Summer time is about growth and gaining wisdom, and there is no better way to do that than reading the Bible and spending time with my Heavenly Father.

4. Do weekly art activities.

As I stated in a recent post of mine, weekends and breaks from school are my favorite times to indulge in my hobbies. To be fair, I’ve been painting, drawing, and crafting pretty frequently already. But I still want to put in the effort to continue to perfect my art skills over summer break.

5. Enjoy the great outdoors–and take lots of photos while doing so.

One of my favorite parts of the season of summer is the photogenic views. Nature is flourishing everywhere you look. And you know what that means; I’m going to have a lot of mini photoshoots whenever I get the chance.

6. Have family game nights with Goodmommy.

Family game nights with Goodmommy are always a blast, but it’s dawned on me that it’s been a while since we’ve actually had one. This summer, I’d like to spend more of my free time with my family as we do fun things together.

7. Go to the aquarium.

Do I miss going on family trips like this. I’ve had this on my mind for a little while, but I think that the weather and amount of leisure time of my break will be the perfect time to pay a visit to our local aquarium for the first time in years.

8. Reach a minimum of 125 followers.

It truly is a huge blessing from God that I already have almost 100 followers! YAYY!!! Since the summer will give me a substantial amount of time to improve my blog, I am hoping that we can reach at least 125 followers before school resumes.

9. Start journaling or scrapbooking

I would really love it if I got an instant camera, that way I could store some of my memories from my summer into a scrapbook or journal–it would be a great opportunity for me to get a little crafty.

10. Take a tour of my desired college

Since I’ll be entering freshman year (9th grade) this August, it’s about time that I start looking at colleges. Me and Goodmommy have already scheduled a private tour of the college that I have in mind, and I’m super excited about it!

This post was such a fun idea that I’m so glad that I was able to bring to life! I can already tell that this summer is going to be an amazing time filled with family, laughter, love, and lots of fun memories.

Furthermore, I’m excited to see how much of my bucket list I was able to fulfill when my 2022 summer break comes to an end.

15 Things to Do in May

What’s up, peeps? As you know, we are still in the beginning of May, which I find to be one of the most beautiful times of year. We are in the golden days of the season of spring, and for some reason that makes me want to get out of the house a little and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Just in case you are also wondering what you can do to enjoy the wonderful month of May–before spring comes to an end–here is a list full of simple yet rewarding things to do. Enjoy!

1. Go bird watching. Spring is such a colorful and joyful time of year. Nature is in its prime, so watching little birds fly across the sky as you hear them sing their fluttery songs is a great way to take advantage of the bliss of the season.

2. Have a picnic on a sunny afternoon. Nothing compares to a nice family barbecue or brunch on a weekend in the spring. Eating outside is best experience when the weather is sunny and bright.

3. Take a trip to the zoo. There’s something about May that makes little family trips out of the house so much more fun. A trip to the zoo can give you an opportunity to be outside while learning more about wildlife.

4. Start gardening or plant a tree. At this time of year, plants are blooming all around us, and the colors of mother nature are present everywhere we turn. If there’s anytime to find your green thumb, it’s springtime!

5. Take a nature hike. When you have free time on your hands, it can be extremely relaxing to step outside and take a look at the true beauty of nature. You could even take a few photos along the way.

6. Read outside. What I love most about reading is that you can do it any time and any where. Outside during the spring make for a great time and place.

7. Host a family game night. On a rainy day, you might have to improvise and find fun things to do inside. If and when this scenario happens, a few rounds of Monopoly, Uno, or Twister are sure to pass the time.

8. Ride your bike around a local park. May is a wonderful chance to go outdoors and stretch in the beauty of nature. Why not get some exercise as you look at all spring has to offer?

9. Do some spring cleaning. Although cleaning might not seem like a fun thing to do, dancing around your house as you listen to some upbeat music while you clean sweetens the deal.

10. Go bowling or golfing with your family. To be honest, every season of the year is a great time to bowl or golf with the ones you love. But in the spring, we are motivated to go out and have some fun. Bowling and golfing are both wonderful picks!

11. Practice good mental health in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week (May 9-16). Mental health is an extremely important part of self care. That being said, this week is catered to spreading awareness about the importance of how we are doing mentally. Take some extra time this month to take care of yourself.

12. Visit an aquarium. So maybe you aren’t so keen on going to the zoo. Well, the next best thing is an aquarium. Although the main part of spring is the nature on land, taking a chance to see some beautiful marine life can still be a great experience this May.

13. Write with chalk on your driveway. This is a really good option for those of you who want to do things close to home. Playing hopscotch or simply doodling on the sidewalk can add some early childhood nostalgia to your spring.

14. Listen to classical music. While there are many music genres that are great for relaxation, classical music just gives me a spring-y vibe with it’s energetic and playful beats. I find it the perfect type of music to add to your May playlist.

15. Go to an amusement park that you’ve never been to. Amusement parks seem to be more fun around the spring and summer. And while any amusement park will do, it’s might be a good idea to spice things up a bit by visiting one that you’ve never visited, before.

This list was a lot of fun to write; it’s one of those posts that not only give you guys some creative ideas, but me as well. I think that if there’s any time to get out and about, it’s the spring, which may be my favorite season.

Hopefully, now you have some ideas for how you can make the most of May, while its still here for us to enjoy.

6 Reasons Why I Love Blogging

It is honestly hard to believe that I have been blogging for over 8 months now. On August 1, 2021 when I started this blog I had no idea how much love I would have for my website. God has blessed me mightily with this gift, and every day, with every post that I create, my love for blogging gets stronger and stronger.

Therefore, today I will be share the top 6 reasons why I love blogging the way I do. Let’s get this party started! ✨

Blogging is A Creative Outlet

Writing has always been a passion of mine, and blogging is essentially writing in a nutshell. Even though it can be a challenge sometimes, I enjoy brainstorming for ideas on what I will post next. Sometimes, God will let me see things throughout the day to give me an idea. Being able to share my experiences as child of God, a person and a teenager with you all is always one of the highlights of my day.

Helping and Inspiring People

Another one of the aspects that I really appreciate about blogging is that it is a way to encourage people and lift them up. When I’m writing, sometimes I don’t know who I am touching or who God had me type the post for. In other circumstances, my writing is a way of teaching myself and helping me follow my own advice. Making people feel good about themselves and who they are, as well as encouraging them to spread love and positivity to others is a major goal on my blog.

I Get to Spread My Faith

This is a biggie, right here. I think it’s so important to have young children of God who encourage other adolescents and young people how to follow God and be His example. Blogging has helped teach me to boast more about the Lord and about my faith. Christianity is a big part of who I am and who God has made me to be, so it’s only natural to incorporate that into my website.

I’ve Created so Many Memories

A blog is a document of your life, your experiences, your feelings, your faith, your family, and all the little pieces of the big picture. I know that every day I am documenting something that I can look back on to remember my childhood and how I felt about life. Every photo and every paragraph tells a story of my life and is another sweet moment to last a lifetime.

Blogging Provides a Sense of Ownership

To me, my blog gives me a sense of ownership and responsibility. It is my duty to maintain, monitor, and create content for my blog. In this way, I think it helps me to prepare for when I have my own business one day, which is always a bonus.

Blogging Allows Me to Grow as A Writer (and a Person)

Since my blogging has put me in the position to write every day, I have seen the progress that I’ve made in regards to my writing skills. While I loved to write even before I started my blog, I wasn’t writing outside of school every day, so this has been a change that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Plus, throughout the process I have learned more about myself, therefore making me more confident in the gifts that God has blessed me with.

I had a blast sharing some of the reasons why I hold my blog so dear to my heart and I hope you had just as much fun reading my thoughts!

An open letter to my younger self…

Dear younger self,

First of all, let me say that I love you, and I know what you’re facing: I was you. While I’m not that much older than you, and I still have much to learn, I hope that you will read these words with an open heart. God has given me lots of wisdom, and like you I am learning every day. I still have things that I need to do and I still have imperfections. But through it all, God has always been there for us, and He always will be. This is the advice that I have for you.

Just be you. I know that you may look in the mirror and see imperfections. But God says that you’re beautiful, inside and out. Even with your flaws, you are the apple of His eye. Don’t ever look in the mirror and wish you looked like someone you’re not. From now on, when you look at your reflection, say “If God says that I’m beautiful, then I think so, too.” The more you say it, the more you’ll believe it. Just shine. Be the the light in the darkness that God chose you to be.

It’s okay to have just a couple friends, because sometimes “friends” can be the same people who will try to take advantage of you in your highs and abandon you in your lows. However, through it all, God is your friend. You are your friend. Goodmommy is your friend. And you might even meet one or two more friends along the way~but don’t rush it. For the Bible says that a friend will stick closer than a brother. And considering that we have a great little brother already, I know that can be pretty hard to beat, LOL.

Keeping the peace is more important than being right. I know that you’re a perfectionist. I am, too. Naturally, we want everything to be perfect all the time. Sometimes, we might think that something isn’t fair or that someone owes us an apology. We might think it in our heads. But a rule to always remember is avoid speaking everything that pops up in your brain. Every thought isn’t meant to be spoken. And if you ever need guidance, pray about it. God will tell you what to do. He’s good like that.

Don’t compare yourself to people. There will be times where you may look at someone else and think that they’ve got everything together. They may always have the biggest smile on their face. They may be popular. They may be pretty. They may be rich in money and jewels. But never forget that sometimes only God knows what’s happening beneath the surface. Rich in money is far from the same thing as rich in peace, joy, and love.

Stop worrying about what other people think about you. What do YOU think about you? What do the people who love you for who you are think about you? And most importantly, what does GOD think about you? What does He call you in His Word? These are the voices that you should listen to. The rest is nothing but background noise.

Let God fight your battle. Life might not be easy in every moment. You may need to make important decisions, and sometimes you might not know what to do. If and when these moments come, be still and listen. Let God fight for you, because He’s already won this battle. Some of the trials that we face are simply a test, where God is asking us “Will you keep your faith in Me?” In everything, God is able. And in His timing, the perfect timing, every season will pass. And with each season, God will make you stronger in Him.

With lots of love,

– Your future, teenage self ♡

If you could say anything to your younger self, what would it be? Feel free to share your thoughts in the chat. I’m super excited to hear from you!

Thank you all so much for reading! Have a beautiful and blessed day, everyone! God bless you all! ♡

A Day in My Life | The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen ♡

Hey, y’all ~ how are you doing? Fantabulous, I hope!

Today, I wrote a post that will show you guys who I am outside of my blog and learn more “about the author.” I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, and today is the perfect day to show you all a day in my life. Basically, this will be a review of how I spend my average weekday. Plus, a few updates on my life (my schooling, pet, art, etc.) along the way.

Considering that the idea for how this post would come together has been brewing in my mind for so long, I hope that you all enjoy experiencing a day in my life!

Let’s get this party started!!! ✨

8:30 AM ~ Time to Wake Up + Breakfast

Usually, it’s at about 8:30 in the morning when I wake up (thank God) to the sound of Goodmommy’s voice. This is the time that I’m getting ready (clean my bed, brush my teeth, etc.) to start my day. After I get ready for school, I come downstairs to eat breakfast. However, I don’t have to go anywhere, since I’m homeschooled, as most of you know.

And if you’re new, welcome! Hopefully that explains why I don’t wake up at around 6:30 in the morning LOL.

10:00 AM ~ Schoolwork

Now, it’s time for me to get some work done. My weekdays consist of approximately 7 hours of school time each, with an hour lunch break, in between. Every day, I tend to have these live classes in Zoom with my teachers and peers to go over the topics we will be learning in the week. And guess what, y’all~I’m maintaining all high A’s!!! YAYY!!!

Let me explain the fan LOL. So for my Science live classes, which are every Thursday, we pick a color that we all wear along with an accessory. We realized that we hadn’t worn brown yet, and I came up with the idea to bring some type of fan. It’s super fun to get all dressed up and interact with my classmates. Live classes are definitely one of the highlights of my school time.

2:00 PM ~ Lunch Break

This is pretty much straight to the point. Around this time, I’ll eat my lunch, browse the National Days for that day, and maybe even post something on Instagram if I have time. Today we ate some cabbage (with bacon bits) and some air-fried frozen fish fillets. It was delicious!

3:00 PM ~ More Schoolwork

After my break, I do a couple more hours of schoolwork to finish what I started. It consists of a lot of reading, typing, quizzes, and note-taking. This is the time where I feel very productive knowing that I was able to submit a lot of assignments.

I hope you enjoy my aesthetic note picture, LOL..

6:00 PM ~ Family Time

At this time, I usually go upstairs to see what Goodmommy’s doing in her office, have a snack, watch TV, read a book, and/or do something artistic to continue to polish my art skills.

Below is a drawing that I did yesterday of Camilo Madrigal from Encanto, since he’s one of my favorite characters from the movie, which I love, by the way. Especially for my first attempt to draw this character. P.S. I posted a video of how I did the drawing as well as a comparison from this frame in the movie on my Instagram account @princessqzion. I would really appreciate it if you checked it out!

And of course, I have to say hello to my fish baby after I’m finished with my work. Peace, my betta fish, gets super excited whenever he sees me come up to the tank. It’s shocking that such a little fish can swim so fast~especially when he’s really happy. I got this gorgeous picture of him today. For some reason, I think he knows that I’m filming him; it’s almost like he poses for the camera.

8:00 PM ~ Blog Brainstorming

Eventually, it’s time to get back to my creative space and begin to brainstorm what my daily blog post will be. Sooo…today, I actually got this idea, a day in my life, really early, but the time that the idea pops into my head or spirit fluctuates. After all, no day is the same.

9:00 PM ~ Video Games + YouTube

After all my work for the day is done (school ✔️, blog post ✔️) then it’s time to have some fun! I usually browse YouTube videos and/or play Roblox on my iPad or Beat Saber on my Oculus Quest, too. This is my time that I might catch up on social media, too.

This is a video making slime based off of Cheetos. Fun Fact: I LOVE food-themed slime videos. You know when you used to absolutely love something…and one day you stopped liking it. And then, a year later, you love it again? That’s my relationship with slime videos in a nutshell.

10:30 PM ~ Dinner + Family Time

Afterwards, it is dinner time, family time, and the time where we rest before it’s time for bed. Me and Goodmommy, who is my grandmother and guardian will usually watch our favorite cooking and/or judge shows. On Fridays, we love to watch Moriah Elizabeth, a YouTube star who paints on almost anything imaginable.

This is the time where we really get to bond and check up on each other. Spending time with Goodmommy is one of the best parts of my day. P.S. Goodmommy works during the day and night, so that’s why we eat so late. ♡

12:30 ~ Bedtime

Finally, it’s time to get ready for bed. After another beautiful day, there’s nothing better than giving God thanks for a beautiful day and getting a good night’s rest.

Thank you so much for reading about my daily schedule. I hope you all continue to have a fabulous day and night! God bless you all!✨
