This or That #7 – Hobby Edition

I just checked my This or That category on my blog, and it’s been almost 4 months since I added to this series…let’s change that today.

For those of you who have never seen this series from my blog, I will explain all of the rules. During every This or That episode, I list a series of questions with two options each (for example cat vs dog) and I have to choose which of the items I like more and/or prefer. Today, every question will contain two options that are related to hobbies or extracurricular activities. So, without further ado, let’s do this thing! ✨

1. Video games 🎮 or board games 🎲 ?

While I love a good board game during family night, I’m going to have to pick video games. I play them almost every single day, while I play board games only on certain occasions. Both of them are really fun, but video games are a more natural choice, for me.

2. Writing ✍🏿 or reading 📚 ?

This one is super tough, considering that reading and writing are some of my favorite hobbies. In fact, I think I might need to make it a tie; I love them both equally. Plus, a person can make a living off of either reading audiobooks or writing their own story. Not only are reading and writing fun, but they both give you plenty of opportunities to make a profit while doing so.

3. Blogging 📝 or vlogging 📷 ?

In case you aren’t familiar with the difference, a blog (such as my blog, The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen) is a website that contains frequent posts, commonly filled with informal or casual writing from a person, such as myself. Vlogging is pretty much the same thing, but in video form.

This might not be a shock to you, but I definitely prefer blogging. I posted occasional vlogs on my YouTube Channel for about a year, but eventually I stopped and transitioned to blogging. I find it much more convenient since a blog post requires much less time, editing, and required equipment than vlogging does, in most circumstances.

4. Mobile games 📱 or console games 🕹️ ?

“Easy” is the first word that came to my mind when I thought of this question. Mobile games, all the way. Again, this response has to do with the one that I use the most. I tend to play the mobile game “Roblox” most days of the week. And while I have an Oculus Quest 2 (and I really love it) it’s not much of a go-to game. Since my mobile devices are super easy to pick up and play on, I tend to find myself using them more often.

5. Novels 📖 or comic books 💥?

YAYY!!! Another easy one. For me, the answer is definitely novels. I would agree that comics tend to have a lot more color, therefore they are really good for those who prefer visuals over pages of words. But there’s nothing that compares to a good novel, in my opinion. Novels (including graphic novels, which are somewhat similar to comic books) are definitely some of my favorite types of literature in the universe.

This or That #6 – Fashion Edition

Hey, y’all! Welcome to a new episode to one of my series — This or That. ✨

Just in case you are new, in this series I provide a list of this or that (item vs. item) questions about either random topics or the one of my choice. Today, we’ll be discussing all things fashion! Feel free to tell me your answers to each question, down below.

Let’s get started, fashionistas! ✨

1.) Silver 💎 or gold 💛?

Whether I wear silver or gold jewelry depends on what outfit I’m wearing. Both can be beautiful accents to tie an outfit together. But my go-to would be silver, since it goes with every color and you can wear it during any season. Gold doesn’t look cohesive with every color scheme, so the times that I can wear it are limited. Also, my nameplate (or my necklace in the shape of my name) is silver, so I tend to go for accessories that will match—most of which are also silver.

2.) Jumpsuit or romper?

Technically, a jumpsuit and a romper are the same thing, except a jumpsuit has pants and a romper, well, shorts. At this time–also called winter–I will say that I would prefer a jumpsuit. They are extremely cozy and a fantastic option if you want to wear a one-piece that doesn’t show too much. I prefer to wear rompers in the summer and spring.

3.) Sandals 👡 or sneakers 👟?

I must admit that I’m a sandal girl, primarily due to the comfort factor. I have about 10+ pairs of sandals (some bedazzled, some leather, some elastic) in my shoe collection, and I’m absolutely obsessed with them! They’re so comfortable and easy to put on, yet sandals are the perfect mix of casual and classy to go with any outfit. Well, except for those that go between your toes. Then…not so much, lol.

4.) Low or high boots 👢 ?

While both are cute, I will say high boots. Particularly knee-high boots. They’re chic and can make an outfit look sophisticated and elegant, or more playful and casual. While I love knee-highs, any type of cute boots are good, in my book.

5.) Backpack purse 🎒 or crossbody purse 👝?

To me, there’s no comparison here. I love a good crossbody. The diagonal line that they create when worn are like the bow on top of a Christmas gift. Crossbodies make looser clothes look more form fitting and are great if you have a more casual sense of style. Besides, they prevent me from misplacing anything. In short, they’re convenient.

This or That #5

It’s been a little while since I posted another addition to This or That. To re-familiarize you all with this series, in it there are two items per question, whether they are food, characters, animals, clothing styles, or colors that are related in some way (item vs. item), and I have to choose the one that I prefer or like the most.

Let’s get started! ✨

1. Introvert 😐 or extrovert ✨?

As of now, I would actually consider myself more of an ambivert, which is a person that has characteristics of both an introvert and extrovert. I do like meeting new people and trying new things, but I am also very cautious, and it takes me some time to open up to people. I will speak to you with a simple “Hello” when we first meet, then as I begin to get to know you more and (possibly) take a liking to you, I will get more comfortable around you. I’m much less shy then I was when I was younger, but I’m still smart and careful when it comes to boundaries.

2. Mashed potatoes 🍠 or baked potatoes 🥔?

Every since I was a little girl, I have never liked mashed potatoes, simply due to the texture. Baked potatoes are really good, as long as they are well seasoned. I usually like to put some seasonings (not including salt), along with some cheese on mine. Baked potatoes are probably one of my favorite dinners.

3. Guitar 🎸 or piano 🎹 ?

This question is slightly ironic, since I have already taken a Guitar course, and therefore I’m pretty good at playing the guitar already. Because of that, I will choose piano. The rich music and the way pianists move their hands to make the music has always been astonishing to me. Therefore, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play myself.

4. Underdressed 👖 or overdressed 👗 ?

In my opinion, looking your best is always a priority. I think it’s better to be overdressed then underdressed, considering that “overdressed” can just describe someone who likes wearing fancy or non-casual clothing. If you are underdressed, chances are the outfit might not stand out as much or make a statement.

5. Science 🧪 or Art 🎨 ?

Both. The world wouldn’t be the same without science or art. Science is an explanation of how natural events occur in the world, and art is a vessel of self expression and creativity. I’ve always found an interest in both subjects. However, some spiritual things cannot be explained by science. Miracles are possible and happen every day, all around the world.

This or That #4 : Christimas Edition!

Hey, everyone! Today, I’m going to do a fourth edition to the This or That series. If you aren’t to familiar with this or that, it is a series where each question includes 2 items, which could be food, clothes, etc., and I have to choose which item I prefer or enjoy more! The only difference is that this time, it will be Christmas themed!

So, let’s get started with This or That #4 !

  1. White lights or colorful lights (on your Christmas tree)? 🎄

This all depends on the look that I am trying to portray. White lights are great for a simple, elegant color scheme, while colorful lights may be more festive. I’m a huge fan of color, so I’ll have to say colorful lights. But, I do think elegant white lights can look beautiful, especially at night time!

2. Gingerbread or sugar cookie? 🍪

I’ve never been a huge fan of gingerbread. I don’t hate it, but it’s not one of my favorite flavors, either. I think that nothing beats a good sugar cookie. Well…maybe chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, but that’s about it!

3. Shop in-person or shop online? 🛍️

If you aren’t aware, I’m a complete homebody. Therefore, 100%, I would say online. However, every now and again, I do enjoy going on a girl’s day with Goodmommy at our favorite stores. What girly-girl doesn’t like to shop? 🙂

4. Hot coffee or hot cocoa? ☕

In my opinion, coffee doesn’t have the best flavor, however, it might taste good if it was paired with chocolate. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with a nice, warm cup of hot cocoa. Especially on those really cold winter nights. In fact, I think I want some right now! I’ve got to ask Goodmommy!

5. Star topper or angel topper? 👼🏽

While I admit that the star topper is a Christmas-tree classic, either one can be really cute and festive. Christmas’s purpose is to celebrate Jesus’ birthday, and many angels were present. The Christmas star is also a big part of Jesus birth. Therefore, they both embrace the Spirit of Christmas, and that’s what I believe is most important!

This or That #3 – Food Edition ✨

Today, I’m going to add another addition to the series, This or That, where I choose a question with two different subjects (which, in this case, will all be food items) and I have to choose which one I like, or prefer, more.

So, let’s get started!

If you had to choose whether the world would have bagels 🥯 or donuts 🍩 , which one would you choose?

Absolutely donuts. I used to eat them all the time when I was in elementary school, and, even though it’s been quite a while since I’ve had a donut, I still love them. On the other hand, I don’t think I’ve ever been a big fan of bagels.

Would you rather have Thanksgiving leftovers 🍗 or have kale salad 🥗 for lunch every day for the rest of your life?

Thanksgiving food is delicious (Happy early Thanksgiving, by the way :)) I also love leftovers, in general, so I’d go with Thanksgiving leftovers. Some salads are very bland, so I’ll usually eat salads that are more flavorful, such as a BBQ salad.

Would you rather go to Chick Fil A 🍗 or KFC 🥘?

Even though I tend to eat at Chick Fil A more, KFC chicken is really good, so this is actually pretty hard, lol.

Since it’s been a while since I’ve had it, I would say KFC, but this all depends on what I have a taste for at the moment.

Would you rather give up salt 🧂 forever, or sugar 🍬 forever?

Although I’ve never liked candy like most kids, I have always loved chocolate, ice cream, and a lot of baked desserts. I think that you can replace salt with other seasonings that still give your food nice flavor. For this reason, I would give up salt (but only if I had to, lol.)

It’s the hottest day of the summer. Would you rather have ice cream 🍦 or a snow cone 🍧?

This really all depends on the day, but as of now, I would say ice cream. I usually have ice cream in my house, and I would consider it one of my favorite desserts. But, snow cones can be really refreshing on a hot day, as well.

Happy #FundaySunday everyone! About a week and a half ago, I posted a game called This or That, and I had so much fun with it! Therefore, I decided that it would be a great idea to do so again.

If you don’t know what This or That is, then it’s basically a game that I play on my blog where i choose 2 options (they could be clothing, food, colors, and many other random items.) I will have to choose which option I prefer, or like the most.

Let’s get the This or That party going! ✨

  1. Calling📱or texting 💬?

I think that most teenagers would easily pick texting. However, for me, this is pretty hard. I’m pretty fast when texting, and I enjoy it. However, I love to talk to my close family on calls, so that way I can hear their voices. It all depends on who I’m talking to. I think I’ll say texting, though. It’s fast and easy.

2. Honesty 💜 or Other’s Feelings ❤️ ?

Both. I chose this because I think that it’s good to be honest in a compassionate way. If I think that the truth will hurt someone’s feelings, it won’t cause me to tell them a lie. Instead, I will tell them the truth, but in a way that let’s them know that I have no intentions on making them feel bad.

3. Paperback book 📚 or eBook 📖?

I’ll say paperback book. I have a large collection of them. And, although I must admit that ebooks are very convenient if you can’t get a book at the library, I prefer getting the actual copy, if I have the opportunity to.

4. Straight hair 👩🏾 or curly hair 👩🏾‍🦱?

Although I am mostly African-American, I also have some Latina and Indian in me. Therefore, my hair is very thick and a mix between curly and wavy. I would choose curly, since that’s how God made me. However, I got a straight hair style a few months ago, and I really enjoyed that, as well. All hair types are beautiful. 🙂

5. Sleep in the quiet or with noise 💤 ?

With noise. I think a lot of people prefer to sleep in complete silence, but it makes me feel a lot more relaxed when I hear some type of noise. Usually, I will put a YouTube video of relaxing music on while I’m in my bed. It helps me relax and sets the mood for a great night sleep!

6. Painting 🎨 or drawing ✍️ ?

I love both painting and drawing so much, so this is extremely difficult. I’d say drawing, though, since I feel like I’ve had more experience with doing so. However, I recently started painting in my art class, and it’s really fun!

What’s up y’all?!? Today, I decided that I’m going to do something different: play a game! And it’s called This or That! So, basically, what this means is I will list two options (for example, pink or white.) These options could be colors, food items, clothing styles, or whatever you can think of! ✨

Anyway, I’m going to have to choose which is my favorite! And, here’s the best part: you can play with me! Feel free to comment your answers down below!

So, let’s get started!

1. Pizza 🍕 or Burger 🍔?

Oof. This is tough. I’d say pizza though, since I feel like it’s something that I have only on certain occasions (every now and then), while I have burgers in my refrigerator, lol.

2. Leggings or Jeans? 👖

Well, this all depends on the time. However, I’ll say jeans because, even though traditionally, they aren’t as comfortable as leggings, I like to buy jeans with soft fabric. I also find them more fashionable. However, I think leggings are better if I’m looking for the maximum comfort.

3. Dog 🐶 or Sloth 🦥?

I know that this question may seem a little weird, but let me explain. When I was little, I always wanted a dog. But, they require you to go outside several times a day, etc. So, then we (me and my Goodmommy/grandmother) came upon the possibility of having a sloth…and now I’m obsessed! I really want one! So, yeah, I’d pick a sloth.

4. Pink 💕or Purple 💜?

I used to love pink when I was about 4-11. And, don’t get me wrong, I still do. I’m just not in love with it now to the point where I want everything in my room to be pink. So, I’d pick purple, even though pink is just as amazing.

5. Crayons 🖍 or Colored Pencils ✏️?

I’m sure that we all used crayons when we were little. However, I personally prefer colored pencils now. They allow you to have much more control and detail, which I pay much more attention to now then I did when I was in Pre-K, lol.
