Hey, everyone! My name is Q’Zion, and welcome to my blog! Since school is back in session for most of us, there might be less time within our day for us to sit back and relax. But the thing is, we shouldn’t put the priority of getting some rest on the back burner.
August 15th is National Relaxation Day, and that means that today is an opportunity for us to find different ways to unwind, even throughout busy weeks. I have created a list of 20 simple tips to promote relaxation in honor of this day of tranquility. Let’s get this party started!
1. Stop and smell the roses . . . literally: Plants are known to be very beneficial for our lungs and decrease symptoms of stress and anxiety. Perfect for any nature lover trying to relax.
2. Begin journaling: Writing about how you are feeling, the best part of each day, or even what you’re grateful for, can be a great way to unwind within just a few minutes of your day.
3. Read a book: On those late-summer days where it’s too rainy to go outside, there’s very few things that are more satisfying than snuggling up on the couch with a book in your hand.
4. Drink something warm (green tea, hot cocoa, latte, etc.): When it comes to relaxation, anything that involves a warm temperature has a soothing affect on both our bodies and minds. But sipping on a toasty beverage is definitely one of the most relaxing of them all.
5. Spend some time with your pet(s): Nobody can deny that our animal babies are always there when we need some companionship.
6. Try a face mask: Skin care is a great option for those who want to ‘feel the zen’ and touch up their pores. A face mask is a wonderful way to unwind just before bedtime.
7. Do some house cleaning: For those of us who can’t stand to see anything out of place, putting in some extra work to keep your house spick and span couldn’t be more gratifying.
8. Take a nap: I mean, do we really need an explanation, here?
9. Take a warm bath: Again, heat and relaxation are a match made in heaven. Keep in mind that if you aren’t into baths, a hot shower may also do a trick to help you relax.
10. Watch some TV: A 30-minute family sitcom or a little nostalgia with a show that you loved during your childhood is sure to make any day a little more lighthearted.
11. Do something creative: There’s something about taking simple things and making them into something beautiful that’s so rewarding. That makes it a perfect option for anyone with some time on their hands.
12. Get some exercise: While this may seem a little counter-productive, studies have shown that exercising is not only beneficial to our mood, but it also helps reduce depression and anxiety, therefore making it easier to relax. Cool right?
13. Think of who and what makes you the happiest: I mean, it’s pretty hard not to be relaxed when thinking about the support of the people who we love the most.
14. Just breathe: Sometimes all we need to wind down is to take a few deep breaths. Each time, breathe in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Sure, it’s a simple technique. But it’s probably also one of the most effective methods on this list.
15. Get busy in the kitchen: Perhaps you are a person who enjoys making dinner for your family, or you’d like to learn a recipe that you’ve been eying. Considering that cooking can be relaxing for some people, now might be a good time to get busy. Just make sure that if you’re not an adult, you cook with the attendance and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
16. Do some light stretching: For those of you who are looking for ways to relax on the go, stretching is an instant way to remove some tension from your muscles and improve your blood flow, therefore making it much easier to ‘take a chill pill.’
17. Go bird watching: I think that birds–especially the ones in our backyards–are some of the most fascinating animals to watch. And if you have nothing else on your to-do list, bird watching is a great way to take your mind off of triggers of anxiety or stress. And what makes this even better is that you can make bird watching a fun summer outing by attending an event with your family or close friends.
18. Know your limit: Or in other words, when you feel that your mind or body needs a break, try to remove yourself from the situation and take a few minutes to recharge.
19. Ask for a hug: You know, most of us has that one person who’s hug always hits the right spot, even if we don’t have a furry friend to snuggle with. Hugs even release a ‘calm chemical’ called oxytocin in our brain, which helps us feel more at peace.
20. Do something that helps you relax: There’s one person in this world who knows what makes you calm–besides God, of course–and that person is you. Try thinking of things that make you feel happy and relaxed. Then, schedule time throughout you day for you to do what comes to mind.
Writing these tips to help us relax was really fun to do! Hopefully, you found a few suggestions here that will help you incorporate a few minutes of peace and quiet into your day. After all, there’s nothing like the boost of energy that we feel after a little bit of relaxation.
What are some of the fun and simple things that you do daily to relax? Also, which tip on this list did you find the most helpful? I would love to see your responses down below in the comments!

Two words: alone and lonely. While the two adjectives sound fairly similar, they also hold two completely different meanings. You see, a lot of people believe that “being alone” is the same thing as “being lonely.” But despite this common misconception, it remains very common for certain people to feel at peace when being alone, and others to feel lonely in a room full of people. Why is this? And moreover, what exactly does this mean?
In today’s episode of Words of Wisdom, we will be diving into the subject “How does being lonely differ from being alone?” a little further.
To begin, let’s review the top definition of each word of this comparison in the Oxford Dictionary. Take a look.
First, lonely’s definition.
Now, the definition of alone.
Do you see any difference? If not, try reading both definitions one more time, and see if you can detect it. Then, check your answer down below.
While the true meanings of alone and lonely may seem the same at first glance, I think the more you read them, the easier it is to understand why they’re so different. So the answer to today’s question is, being lonely represents an emotional longing to have a companionship, of some sort. Meanwhile, alone is just the physical state of being unattended by another person.
Many times, people mistake the word alone as a bad thing. But when we think about it, almost everyone enjoys a few minutes a day doing something that they love in solidarity, whether that something is listening to music, spending time with God, or even working up a sweat in the gym. In fact, I believe that the times in which we are enjoying the moment in solidarity are likely some of the most peaceful moments of all. That’s why it’s possible to be happy when we’re by ourselves, or lonely even when we are in the presence of others.
Really, identifying the difference between the two is all about our state of mind.
So, today’s final words: being alone is not the same as being lonely. Instead, it’s a great way for us all to practice self-care and come to a place where we can simply enjoy our own company–and develop a closer relationship to God, in the process. I challenge anyone who is willing to take some more time in solidarity, and find ways to enjoy moments of solitary peace. We all need them, every once in a while.
Have a fantabulous day, everybody! God bless you all, and I’ll catch you later! Peace in! ♡

What’s up, everybody! This is Q’Zion, and welcome to my blog! I hope all of you are enjoying the prime of summer!
As you all know, we recently entered the month of August. But did you know that the 8th month of the year also promotes wellness in our everyday lives? If not, then today’s the day! In honor of National Wellness Month, I have created a list of 8 simple tips to help us live our happiest and healthiest lives possible. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get this show on the road!
1. Start your mornings with something productive
The morning is one of the most important times of the day; it’s a time for us to get our gears moving and create a fresh start for a brand new 24 hours. After we finish our regular morning routine, we might as well do something to boost our energy. Stretching with some yoga poses, finishing another chapter of your new book, and learning a new language are a few options. You never know–after you begin to start your day doing something you love, you may even become a morning person.
2. Go outside and get some sunlight
Exercise is just as good for our minds as it is beneficial for our bodies. And that means that it’s one of the best ways to maintain a healthier lifestyle. A quick jog around your neighborhood or a local park is a great way to enjoy what nature has to offer while burning a few calories, before dinner. What’s not to love?
3. Eliminate negative self-talk
Wellness isn’t technically something that’s hard to achieve–but the progress starts with us. In order to transition to a state of better mental health, our mindsets have to be a reflection of that. This means that in order to make the progress that we want, we’ve got to be kind to ourselves by promoting positive words in our heads everyday. It’s much easier to reach a goal when we use our inner voice as an outlet of encouragement, rather than negativity.
4. Get a green thumb
Have you ever heard that people who garden tend to be happier? Well, then that is in fact correct. Multiple studies have shown that plants have a way of helping people feel more relaxed and content, similar to the effects of riding a bike everyday. Plants can even help increase concentration, your ability to breathe, and quality of life. So taking up the hobby of gardening might be a good idea to consider.
5. Creatively eat more fruits and veggies
Although we’ve all heard it thousands of times, we really do need to get our daily intakes of fruits and veggies. But just because we want to make an effort to make our diet more nutritious, doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun while doing it. Feel free to experiment with creative–and delicious–ways to eat healthier. Fruit smoothies, colorful salads, and veggie casseroles are a few tasty ways to spice things up in the kitchen.
6. Create something
I don’t know about you, but it always feels good when I take some time out of my day to be creative. There are so many options for what you can make–whether it’s a few quick doodles, a portrait, a paper craft, or even your own book. All it takes is a little imagination, and thousands of productive possibilities are within our reach!
7. Make sleep a priority
One of the things that we all need everyday is our beauty sleep. Without it, there’s no way that we could get through each day. So even if you find yourself busy as a bee, make sure that when your work for today is done, you get your 8 hours. This way, you can put just as much energy in the work that tomorrow has in store, and feel great while doing it.
8. Stay hydrated
The golden rule to a healthy lifestyle is to keep water in our systems. Not only does water reduce the risk of a large number of diseases, but it also does the basic job of maintaining high energy levels and keeping our brain functioning at its best. Considering all it’s benefits, drinking water is definitely a goal that we should all commit to.
Working towards a healthier lifestyle can be a challenge for some, but with a few simple changes here and there, achieving our wellness goals is a piece of cake. I challenge you all to take the time during National Wellness Month to make a few goals for yourself to pave the way for a healthier, and happier life. Hopefully, these tips were a good way to start your journey!

Although for me, school will be back in session in approximately 2 1/2 weeks, others are already back to school or about to be, and some kids are just starting their summer break. Whether you’ll be going back to school in a two weeks or two months, it’s important that we are prepared well before school actually begins.
Sure, it’s only the end of July. But for many of us, the sound of school bells ringing is right around the corner; we might as well get ready! To help you start on your back-to-school preparations, I’ve provided 6 helpful tips for how you can start the school year with a prepared peace of mind.
Stock Up With School Supplies
I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my school work, I need more and more supplies every school year. And since school supplies tends to go on sale early into summer break, why not get your back to school shopping over with early? Knowing that you have all the supplies that you need to get your work done in style will surely put a load off of your shoulders.
Create (and Follow) a Morning Routine
Staying up till morning while binging your favorite TV shows is the epitome of many kid’s summer break. But as school inches closer, there comes a time where we need to get back into a daily routine. Getting ready in the mornings is one of the most important aspects to starting a productive school day. So creating routine to help you start your day is a great way to prepare.
Talk About Back-to-School Anxiety with a Confidant
While a new school year can be a fresh start for some students, it can be a much more nerve-wracking experience for others. In case you have a few back-to-school nerves, it’s a great idea to consider sharing some of your worries with a trusted companion of yours–especially someone that has been in your shoes once. Whether it’s a parent or guardian, an older sibling, or even a close friend, speaking to someone who knows what it’s like to be nervous as school approaches can sympathize with your emotions and encourage you that you will ace whatever this year throws your way.
I know, I know! Summer break is one of the few chances that we get where we don’t have to read. Why would we want to spend our days of leisure doing something that we have to do during most of the year? Well, my friends, just because you don’t have to do something doesn’t necessarily mean that we shouldn’t. Plus, going from reading absolutely nothing to the sudden change of reading everyday can cause us to loose a lot of what we learned last year. In fact, educational professionals have actually named this “summer slide.” Therefore, the best way we can prevent loosing our current knowledge is by continuing to read. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later when you do.
Do a Quick Review Of What You Learned Last Year
Have you ever been working on an assignment in the middle of a school year and suddenly said “Oh–I remember learning something like this last year!” Well, instead of having this kind of realization months after school begins, it’s always nice to get a quick review, beforehand. And skimming through some of your leftover notes from last year–a week or two before school begins–is a great way to start.
Relax
Although it can be a little unnerving when school is just around the corner, we have got this in the bag! Take the last few weeks of your summer break to practice self-care and above all, know that this upcoming school year is going to be even better than the last: all we have to do is prepare, relax, and believe. Remember, you’ve got this!
I’m definitely going to have to take my own advice with these back to school hacks; God gave me some good ones! I hope that after reading these tips, you are on your way to being prepared for your next year of school! I’m quite sure each and every one of us will ace it!

On this blog, one of the most frequent topics that I discuss is self-care. And as a teenager who recognizes its importance, it gives me joy to be able to share that with other people through my writing. Therefore, when I saw that it’s International Self Care Day, I knew that giving ourselves some love would be the topic of today’s post.
However, I wanted to do something a little different with this one. Usually, I’ll make lists providing ways that we can incorporate self-care into our daily lives. Instead, this will be a list of 5 reasons why taking care of ourselves should always be a top priority. Let’s get started!
Self-Care is a Way to Develop A Relationship With Ourselves
A relationship doesn’t necessarily have to be between two people. In fact, one of the most important relationships of all should be the one that we have with ourselves. Self-care helps us to find out who we are, learn how to love ourselves–physically, mentally, and spiritually–and have a more at-peace way of life through a few minutes of mindfulness everyday.
Just keep in mind that just like any other relationship, creating a self-relationship requires a little time and effort to grow.
It Helps Us Preform At Our Best
If we neglect the things that we need to do our very best in life, eventually we will shut down in one way or another. For example, if we don’t get any sleep for a few days, chances are we would end up tired, confused, and easily irritated. Why? Because sleep is a form of self-care that gives our bodies the energy that they need to function. When we take care of ourselves, we are then able to complete all of our daily responsibilities with flying colors.
Self Care Improves Our Overall Mental Health
Self-care speaks for itself in terms of what it means; it’s taking some time out of our day to give ourselves some tender love and care– just as we do for those around us on a regular basis. When we use self-care, we are acknowledging our needs to be the best version of ourselves. And when we are our best, we feel our best.
Think about it; it’s only natural to feel lighter on your feet after doing something that makes you happy or relaxed.
It Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Just as self-care increases happiness, it also helps reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Many self-care activities–such as meditation, warm baths, and reading–are those that keep us calm while releasing happy chemicals into our brains, such “endorphins” and “serotonin.” So you can basically think of self-care as a simple, daily way to keep your mental health in check.
Self Care can Help Improve Relationships
To some, the term in which this post revolves can seem a little too self centered. But the truth is, self-care isn’t selfish; the only way that we can take care of others is if we care for ourselves. If we have constant anxiety, or we aren’t doing what we need to keep our bodies healthy, then it’s very unlikely that we will be able to do our best at being there for those around us. This may be a tough pill to swallow, but it’s also a crucial one. We have to be our the best version of ourselves to be the best friend, partner, or family member that we can be.
I really enjoyed writing about why self-care is such an important practice, and I hope you did, as well. In my opinion, self-care is not just about ourselves, but being able to be our best in everyday life. And that’s something that we should all take as a priority.
LET’S CHAT~What are some reasons why you believe self care is important? Feel free to share your thoughts down below in the comments.

Hey, everybody! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! ♡
For those of you who were here when I wrote my 2022 goals, one of them was to eat salad 2-4 times every week. Let’s just say that I was a little slow with putting this goal into action. Still, the year is not over, and it’s never to late to make a nutritional change in your diet. Yesterday, Goodmommy and I began a 2022 salad challenge consisting of one salad per day for a sum of 31 days.
At first, I was a little skeptical to do this challenge, considering that we hadn’t yet mastered creating variety in our homemade salads. However, after Goodmommy showed me an article with some of the health benefits of eating a salad a day–including stronger bones and heart, fiber, weight control, and the regular perks that happen when you eat fruits and veggies every day–it helped me to understand that completing this challenge would be really good for us, in the long run.
Today, July 7th was the second day of our salad challenge, meaning that we started on July 6th and will have completed our salad challenge on August 6th. I took a picture of me and Goodmommy’s salad so you all can see what we incorporated.
This is my salad for today, which consists of green leaf lettuce and Romaine lettuce–one of the most nutritional leafy greens in the world– some air-friend chicken, and some French dressing. Even though I had the exact same thing yesterday, Goodmommy tossed all the ingredients together today, so I could automatically taste the improvement! This is how Goodmommy’s lunch looked before her salad was tossed. It is pretty much exactly the same as mine with the exception of the sweet beets–the little red bits. Although I’m hesitant to add them into my salad, Goodmommy really enjoys them. I have to admit that they give the salad a really nice pop of color, which I like.
To keep you guys in-the-know about our progress with our salad challenge, I will try to post our salad once a week, so you all can see how we add more variety into our salads as we further master making them at home. I thank God that we have the resources to be able to buy the ingredients that we need to better our health.
While salad may not be many people’s first choice when it comes to lunch, it really is benefitial to keep your insides just as healthy as your outside. And in my opinion, when you are healthy on the inside, it eventually begins to show through in how you think on a daily basis. And the more that we can do to keep ourselves healthy and happy, the better.
LET’S CHAT~Have you ever done a nutritional challenge? Did you enjoy it?
Have a beautiful and blessed day, everybody! See you next time! ♡

Over the last year, I feel as though incorporating self-care into my daily routine became more important for me. So much so that finding small ways to be kind to myself throughout the day has become natural.
Self-care is a necessity for anyone, no matter what age or gender. And while we all take care of ourselves in different ways, I think we should do so on a regular basis.
I am a strong believer that not only can self-care be fun, but also have a substantial effect on how you think and live. Due to its importance, I have listed some simple habits–most of which I do myself–that you can incorporate into your everyday routine to help you feel like your best self.
1. Wash your face in the morning.
A substantial amount of bacteria gets attached to our skin every 24 hours. And while some bacteria actually protects our skin, others types may lead to clogged pores, a buildup of oil, acne, and a multitude of other issues. This is why taking a damp, warm towel or a facial wipe that includes ingredients that will moisturize your skin should be included in everyone’s morning routine.
2. Eat more meals in smaller portions.
While we may be tempted to eat half of tonight’s dinner in one sitting, many scientists believe that it is best to eat more, smaller meals. Not only will it prevent you from getting hungry as frequently throughout your day, but it also constantly provides your body with nutrients. This then instantly boosts your metabolism, making your body and mind alike more optimistic and energetic.
3. Keep your space organized.
The space that we are surrounded in every day makes a difference in our mental clarity. For example, most of us would probably feel more at peace in a house where everything is put in a designated place rather than one where objects are randomly scattered across the floor. Space organization is everything when it comes to self-care! So a good idea is to pick a room in your home–or a digital option such as your liked Videos or emails–and organize it. A clean space is a huge step forward to a clean mind.
4. Unplug from social media for a day.
As a person who is practically inseparable from her phone and computer, I understand that this can be much harder said than done; especially when trying to make it a habit. While unplugging isn’t something that I do often, every now and again I will take a day off of my electronics. And it can really help to clear your mind off of all the “noise” that comes with social media. The next day, I return to it feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, in a sense.
5. Have a 3-minute breathing session.
There are times where we all need to sit still and take some deep breaths. I find this tip especially helpful for those who feel stressed or have anxiety, as it helps calm you down within a short amount of time. However, even if you don’t have any major events going on in your life, a 3-minute session of deep breaths can be very beneficial to your emotional health.
In my house, this isn’t so much a tip; more of just regular life. My family knows how to have tons of fun together, so we are just about always laughing. However, studies have shown that while the average 4-year-old laughs up to 300 times a day, most 40-year-olds laugh as little as 4 times daily. Laughing produces the “happy” chemical named endorphins, the ultimate hormone for feeling your greatest.
7. Create a ‘positive vibes playlist’.
Listening to music is like a therapy to most people. It’s like that safe haven whenever you need to clear your thoughts or relax or have a little “me time.” A great idea if you are a music lover is to create a playlist of all the songs that never fail to make you smile. This way, whenever you need to take a little break, you can go to your playlist and feel the good vibes.
As a blogger, self-care posts are some of the most wholesome to write. I really enjoy helping people feel like their best self as they live their best life, and I hope that these self-care habits will help you make the most of your daily routine.

While there are good people in this world, everyone encounters those who want to put us down; to make us feel unworthy or angry. Even if we do treat others how we want to be treated, and follow the words of God to the best of our ability, it seems like there are always people who try to steal your joy.
So the question remains; why do some people try to treat us like doormats?
The answer to this question can vary on the situation. It could be because they are having a bad day and want someone else to feel how they are feeling. It could be jealousy. Or they could just be that type of person. But something that we always need to remember is that as followers of Christ, the way we represent both God and ourselves is a crucial part in how we teach others to treat us.
The way we react to certain situations and how we carry ourselves makes a huge difference in how we are treated. When certain people try to deal with their emotions, some of them will try to mess with those who appear vulnerable in some way: whether that is physically, emotionally, or relating to personal self-esteem. They look for an easy target–or someone who is insecure in who they are.
For example, if a group of kids in school decide to pick on a child, and the victim begins to appear emotionally hurt, chances are the bullying will continue, and maybe even get worse. But if the victim simply ignores the bullying, without displaying any visible reaction to the teasing, the bullies will likely move on. The reason is because, no bully is going to waste their time picking on someone who they can’t affect. Self confidence is key to keeping the peace. And we can show that we are confident without saying a single word.
Final Thoughts
The sad truth is, there will always be hurt people in this world who want to hurt others. But if we have confidence in who God tells us who we are, and who we are in the eyes of Jesus Christ, He gives us the strength that we need to face any battle. And when people see that strength . . . when they see that we respect ourselves, they know to treat us with that same respect. Because a person who respects themselves will accept nothing less.
Learning who we are can be a longer process, depending on the person. But as long as we read God’s Word, and reflect on what we mean to Him, we begin to realize that we are worthy of the utmost respect. All we have to do is represent.
Thank you so much for joining me, and I hope that you were inspired! God bless you all! ✨

If there’s anything that I love about summer, it’s that it gives me the opportunity to grow, learn new things, and change for the better because of it. Summer is a season of transformation, and becoming a wiser, happier, and healthier person than you were before.
Many people look for ways that they can grow during this time of year, but don’t know where to start. To give you a bit of a helping hand, here is a beginner’s guide to self improvement, including 7 of my favorite tips for personal growth that you can apply to your life during the summer of 2022.
1. Spend your time doing things that will make you better.
As we set the goal for ourselves to grow as individuals, we have to be sure that what we do on a daily basis reflects that desire. While there is no problem with having fun (responsibly) from time to time, we must show ourselves approved by doing productive things that will improve us in some form. In other words, we should do things that will help us reach our goals.
2. Volunteer in your community.
One of the best ways to work to grow over the summer is by volunteering into local organizations and helping people in need. At this point, we have more than enough time on our hands. Plus, it always feels good to know that we’re spending it in a way that will help the people in our communities who need our assistance.
3. Be open to trying new experiences.
Our comfort zones are a good thing, but only to a limit. Sometimes we need to move beyond them in order to transition to the next stage of our lives. Change can be a good thing–making the decision to improve yourself is change. And as we transform, it’s beneficial when we occasionally try new productive things, giving us another opportunity to gain wisdom as we learn from each experience.
4. Practice self-care on a regular basis.
Self-care is and always has been important. In order for us to continue to improve, we need to take care of ourselves mentally, physically, and spiritually on a daily basis. Whether that means a few minutes of meditation, positive affirmations, reading, a hot bath, or listening to music, spend some time each day to clear your mind and get some me time.
5. Stay present and in the moment.
A critical part of personal development is staying present in every second that life has to offer. Even though summer break offers much time for us to learn and grow, it can fly by in a heartbeat. Therefore, be sure to take advantage of each moment that you have on Earth, with an intention and drive to reach each of your goals. So, while its good to plan for our future, make sure that you still remain present and grateful right where you are during each step of the journey.
6. Learn from others’ mistakes, so you don’t have to make them.
Honestly, I have to remind myself of this tip from time to time, just because it can be super easy to forget or dismiss. However, it holds so much wisdom that simply cannot be ignored. As we surround ourselves with positive role models who are willing to invest in us, we must pay attention to their experiences and what they have taught them. Take their wisdom as guidance for your future. And although we shouldn’t spend our time with them in order to grow, learn what not to do from the negative role models, as well.
7. Create positive habits
Those behaviors that we participate in have a significant affect on our lives and health. Healthy habits make up a healthy life. Focus your time doing things that are good for all the aspects of your health. This way, you can make room to continue your growth.
Personal growth is a mission that truly never stops, as there is always room for improvement. That being said, every single step counts, no matter their size. Developing as people is a process; one that takes time and patience. That being said, as long as we never give up, we are getting closer to whatever goals we want to achieve. We just have to keep pushing.
