Who’s Ready for Highschool? | How to Get Prepared — Reblog

A/N~ Happy Saturday, everyone! Let. me. tell. you. Today was a busy day, for me. Still, I decided to reblog this super fun post of mine to help out 8th and 9th graders to prepare for high school, since most schools are already/almost back in session. I hope you all enjoy it!

When you’re in 8th grade, it can be a lot to think about your future. It’s the last year of middle school, a.k.a. the time in your life where you start thinking about college and what career you want to pursue, all while trying to find out more about yourself and how you are changing. I know that it can seem like a lot sometimes. However, as a soon-to-be-freshman myself, I’m here to tell you that everything will be okay! We just need to get prepared. And here’s how!

1.) Make Sure You Have a Consistent Schedule to Better Suit the Upcoming Changes ~ Highschool is nothing to be afraid of. Still, it’s a new chapter of our lives that requires preparation. And that means a schedule that will better suit the changes. In high school we will have new classes, teachers, peers, schools and our grades begin setting deeper footprints. This means that we need to make sure that we have routines that will give us plenty of time to stay productive during weekdays.

2.) Pay Attention to Academic Areas that Need Improving ~ Most of us have at least one favorite subject. And along with that, there might be some subjects that you feel like you could improve in. Now is the time to put those feelings into action. If we go through the process of getting more comfortable with the subjects that we need help in, we are setting ourselves up for success in the future and in life.

3.) Maintain Good Study Habits ~ One of the biggest differences in high school vs. middle school is the amount of work. High school is when we really start to prepare for our future, so why not start early? Maintaining positive and stable study habits will help prepare us for what’s to come, making the load lighter when high school is in session.

4.) Ask For Help If (and When) You Need It ~ At one point or another, we’ve all had to ask for help, whether it was from God, a parent, a teacher, a friend, or even our communities. And if there’s any stage in our lives that we need to ask for help, it’s probably now. New stages can be exciting, but for others they can be nerve-wracking. So, whenever you need a helping hand to lay on your shoulder during this time of transition, don’t be afraid to ask for it. Asking for assistance is a skill that we will need to use in all stages of our journeys as people and individuals.

5.) Create an Organized Workspace ~ While study habits are important, the only way that we can study effectively is if we have a constant place to do so. When you come home from school (or when you do your work if you’re homeschooled, like me) it makes it much easier to focus when you have an effective study space to get the job done.

6.) Get Your Priorities in Check ~ Prioritizing what we find the most important in our lives is crucial to preparing for grade 9. Peer pressure is just about everywhere in most public schools, so make sure that you are in check with what and whom you should spend your time. High school is all about preparing for adulthood, and while we still have time left before then, making priorities are a must for another successful school year!

7.) Relax~We Got This! ~ No matter what, remember that as long as you give it your all, you’ve got it together! You are capable. You are smart. You will succeed. You are getting better every day. You got this! Don’t forget to say these things to yourself whenever you need some words of encouragement. We can’t overlook mental health! <33

This guide for How to Prepare for Highschool was such a blast to create! I’m super excited for what high school has in store for me, and I hope that now you are, too. Don’t forget that with effort, the willingness to ask for help, positive affirmation, and academic preparation, high school will be smooth-sailing. All we need to do (besides these tips) is relax and enjoy what’s soon to come!

5 Tips for Overcoming Your Fears

Hey, everybody! This is Q’Zion, and welcome back to my corner of the Internet! ♡

Let’s talk about fear. It’s a word that we have all heard once or twice, at the very least. And while for some, it’s just another word in the dictionary, other people may suffer from anxiety on a much more regular basis. While fear is not a bad thing, it’s important that we don’t let it take control. The only thing is, that can be a lot harder said than done.

This being said, conquering our fears is an amazing way to help us become more compassionate, confident, brave, and wise human beings. Plus, it’s a big help when it comes to checking things off of our bucket lists. And since July 26th is National All or Nothing Day, it made perfect sense to talk about just that.

To help you start your journey, here are a few tips for conquering your fears. Let’s get started! ♡

Start Small

When we learn how to swim, we don’t just dive right into the deep end; instead, we learn the basics and build on our progress. Facing fears is a very similar process. Instead of diving into the things that make you nervous head on, sometimes its better to take baby steps. This not only helps prepare you for the time when you face your fear, but it also helps to build your courage and confidence, in the process.

Realize That The Only Way You Can Fail is If You Quit

One of the biggest obstacles that can get in the way of facing a fear is the thought of failing your mission. But in the scenario that you try and things don’t immediately go as planned, that is only a bump in the road so long as you keep giving your all to succeed. But the journey only stops if we give up. Remember that the bumps in the road are just another part of your road to victory.

Be Kind to Yourself

While doing our best is of utmost importance in life, making sure that you’re taking care of yourself is, too. Therefore, if you ever do encounter one of those bumps in the road, give yourself some time to recoup with a short session of mindfulness. Whether that is taking some deep breaths, taking a nap, or reading a book, never punish yourself for making mistakes along the way. After all, love is one of the gems of life. We should never take it for granted.

Turn Your Fear into Fuel

Life is filled with a handful of trials, and fear is one of them that we all have to conquer at one point or another. But instead of ignoring our fears until they multiply, try to use it as a drive to make every effort to conquer the anxiety. A lot of times, it’s the trials in life that can make us stronger than ever. All we have to do is turn our fears into fuel.

Acknowledge Your Achievements

Even though there are some trials in life, we mustn’t ignore the endless list of joys. During every journey, there tends to be some type of achievement or growth that occurs along the way. Therefore, make sure to give yourself positive rewards for the things that you’ve done to achieve your goals. These celebrations serve as an extra push in the right direction of facing a fear.

I know that facing a fear is a process, but I hope that these tips will help make it easier for anyone on their journey. Keep in mind that as long as we keep the faith that we can and will succeed, there is nothing that we cannot achieve. Thank God for victory!

We started our 2022 salad challenge . . . ♡

Hey, everybody! Welcome or welcome back to my blog! ♡

For those of you who were here when I wrote my 2022 goals, one of them was to eat salad 2-4 times every week. Let’s just say that I was a little slow with putting this goal into action. Still, the year is not over, and it’s never to late to make a nutritional change in your diet. Yesterday, Goodmommy and I began a 2022 salad challenge consisting of one salad per day for a sum of 31 days.

At first, I was a little skeptical to do this challenge, considering that we hadn’t yet mastered creating variety in our homemade salads. However, after Goodmommy showed me an article with some of the health benefits of eating a salad a day–including stronger bones and heart, fiber, weight control, and the regular perks that happen when you eat fruits and veggies every day–it helped me to understand that completing this challenge would be really good for us, in the long run.

Today, July 7th was the second day of our salad challenge, meaning that we started on July 6th and will have completed our salad challenge on August 6th. I took a picture of me and Goodmommy’s salad so you all can see what we incorporated.

This is my salad for today, which consists of green leaf lettuce and Romaine lettuce–one of the most nutritional leafy greens in the world– some air-friend chicken, and some French dressing. Even though I had the exact same thing yesterday, Goodmommy tossed all the ingredients together today, so I could automatically taste the improvement!

This is how Goodmommy’s lunch looked before her salad was tossed. It is pretty much exactly the same as mine with the exception of the sweet beets–the little red bits. Although I’m hesitant to add them into my salad, Goodmommy really enjoys them. I have to admit that they give the salad a really nice pop of color, which I like.

To keep you guys in-the-know about our progress with our salad challenge, I will try to post our salad once a week, so you all can see how we add more variety into our salads as we further master making them at home. I thank God that we have the resources to be able to buy the ingredients that we need to better our health.

While salad may not be many people’s first choice when it comes to lunch, it really is benefitial to keep your insides just as healthy as your outside. And in my opinion, when you are healthy on the inside, it eventually begins to show through in how you think on a daily basis. And the more that we can do to keep ourselves healthy and happy, the better.

The Joyful Blogger Tag 🌻 | national day of joy ♡

If you could describe the best feeling in the world, what would it be? Come to think of it, there are a few that come to my mind. Love, gratitude, hope, peace. But what about the word “joy”? The dictionary itself defines the word as “a feeling of great pleasure or happiness.”

And while some might say that joy is a synonym to the word happy, it’s more of an abundance of glee that feels like a burst of energy throughout your body; in other words, pure bliss. Today happens to be the National Day of Joy, and a special Hug Holiday, which ironically go together perfectly. I mean, if there’s anything that bring us joy, it’s a warm hug.

In order to celebrate this day catered to joy, I decided to answer some fun yet thought-provoking questions in my original creation: The Joyful Blogger Tag 🌻 Feel free to answer each of these questions on your blog, as long as you state my name as the original creator (Q’Zion) and provide a link to the homepage of my blog within that post. And, without further ado, let’s get started!

What brings you the most joy–that does not include materialistic items?

Firstly Father God, who all my joy comes from. Then my family and friends. My pet fish. Seeing others be kind to one another. Doing what I love to do: including writing, art, listening to music, singing, reading, looming, etc. I think I feel happiest when I am doing what I love with the people that I love. While participating in my hobbies is always fun, whether I do it individually or with others, I always love to share my work with the people whom I care about the most.

Which color do you associate with the word “joy” the most?

I know this might be a little standard, but yellow is the first color that comes to my mind after reading this question. Bubblegum pink is a pretty close second, though. I think both of those colors are bright, energetic, bright and happy–looking. Brighter colors in the warmer spectrum tend to make me the happiest. On the other hand, colors like purple, blue and green give me a serene vibe. It’s funny how different colors and shades can make us feel different emotions, isn’t it?

How do you think you’ve grown as an individual within the past year?

The past year–or two–of my life have had a huge affect on the person that I am today. For one, I think that I’ve got a lot wiser, both due to things that God and my Goodmommy has shared with me as well as personal experiences. Now I am much more confident in who I am and how I look, and as a result I am a lot less shy then I was years ago. I have come to discover that I am wonderfully and perfectly made. In other words, I am exactly who God wants me to be. And I think that as long as I keep that motto in my heart, I will continue to grow.

What are you most grateful for?

The list is so long that it would never end, as there are always things to be thankful for when you look at the big picture of your life and what it could be. Right now, I’m most thankful for love and peace in my home. Being able to laugh, smile, and just enjoy life. I know that’s a pretty simple answer, but the things that make us happy don’t have to be complicated. In fact, most times it’s the everyday miracles that bring us the most joy.

How do you find joy through the trials of life?

When life gets tough and you’re in a tight spot, it can be tough for some to find things to be joyful about. However, I always like to remember that even though things might not be going my way, I’m still alive and breathing. Therefore, my journey is not over. Life itself is one of the greatest blessings of all. If we weren’t alive, how would we be able experience joy in the first place?

Wow! Those questions were the exact daily dose of happiness that I needed. The entire purpose for this post was to give us a chance to reflect on what makes us feel joy, and what we are grateful for even throughout the trials that we face. Remember, nothing and nobody can take your joy without your permission!

LET’S CHAT~What brings you the most joy? And furthermore, what is your favorite way to spread joy to others? Feel free to share your responses in the comments. I would love to hear from you all!

7 Daily Self-Care Habits to Help You Feel Your Best

Over the last year, I feel as though incorporating self-care into my daily routine became more important for me. So much so that finding small ways to be kind to myself throughout the day has become natural.

Self-care is a necessity for anyone, no matter what age or gender. And while we all take care of ourselves in different ways, I think we should do so on a regular basis.

I am a strong believer that not only can self-care be fun, but also have a substantial effect on how you think and live. Due to its importance, I have listed some simple habits–most of which I do myself–that you can incorporate into your everyday routine to help you feel like your best self.

1. Wash your face in the morning.

A substantial amount of bacteria gets attached to our skin every 24 hours. And while some bacteria actually protects our skin, others types may lead to clogged pores, a buildup of oil, acne, and a multitude of other issues. This is why taking a damp, warm towel or a facial wipe that includes ingredients that will moisturize your skin should be included in everyone’s morning routine.

2. Eat more meals in smaller portions.

While we may be tempted to eat half of tonight’s dinner in one sitting, many scientists believe that it is best to eat more, smaller meals. Not only will it prevent you from getting hungry as frequently throughout your day, but it also constantly provides your body with nutrients. This then instantly boosts your metabolism, making your body and mind alike more optimistic and energetic.

3. Keep your space organized.

The space that we are surrounded in every day makes a difference in our mental clarity. For example, most of us would probably feel more at peace in a house where everything is put in a designated place rather than one where objects are randomly scattered across the floor. Space organization is everything when it comes to self-care! So a good idea is to pick a room in your home–or a digital option such as your liked Videos or emails–and organize it. A clean space is a huge step forward to a clean mind.

4. Unplug from social media for a day.

As a person who is practically inseparable from her phone and computer, I understand that this can be much harder said than done; especially when trying to make it a habit. While unplugging isn’t something that I do often, every now and again I will take a day off of my electronics. And it can really help to clear your mind off of all the “noise” that comes with social media. The next day, I return to it feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, in a sense.

5. Have a 3-minute breathing session.

There are times where we all need to sit still and take some deep breaths. I find this tip especially helpful for those who feel stressed or have anxiety, as it helps calm you down within a short amount of time. However, even if you don’t have any major events going on in your life, a 3-minute session of deep breaths can be very beneficial to your emotional health.

6. Laugh as often as possible.

In my house, this isn’t so much a tip; more of just regular life. My family knows how to have tons of fun together, so we are just about always laughing. However, studies have shown that while the average 4-year-old laughs up to 300 times a day, most 40-year-olds laugh as little as 4 times daily. Laughing produces the “happy” chemical named endorphins, the ultimate hormone for feeling your greatest.

7. Create a ‘positive vibes playlist’.

Listening to music is like a therapy to most people. It’s like that safe haven whenever you need to clear your thoughts or relax or have a little “me time.” A great idea if you are a music lover is to create a playlist of all the songs that never fail to make you smile. This way, whenever you need to take a little break, you can go to your playlist and feel the good vibes.

As a blogger, self-care posts are some of the most wholesome to write. I really enjoy helping people feel like their best self as they live their best life, and I hope that these self-care habits will help you make the most of your daily routine.

We teach others how to treat us — Words of Wisdom #17

While there are good people in this world, everyone encounters those who want to put us down; to make us feel unworthy or angry. Even if we do treat others how we want to be treated, and follow the words of God to the best of our ability, it seems like there are always people who try to steal your joy.

So the question remains; why do some people try to treat us like doormats?

The answer to this question can vary on the situation. It could be because they are having a bad day and want someone else to feel how they are feeling. It could be jealousy. Or they could just be that type of person. But something that we always need to remember is that as followers of Christ, the way we represent both God and ourselves is a crucial part in how we teach others to treat us.

The way we react to certain situations and how we carry ourselves makes a huge difference in how we are treated. When certain people try to deal with their emotions, some of them will try to mess with those who appear vulnerable in some way: whether that is physically, emotionally, or relating to personal self-esteem. They look for an easy target–or someone who is insecure in who they are.

For example, if a group of kids in school decide to pick on a child, and the victim begins to appear emotionally hurt, chances are the bullying will continue, and maybe even get worse. But if the victim simply ignores the bullying, without displaying any visible reaction to the teasing, the bullies will likely move on. The reason is because, no bully is going to waste their time picking on someone who they can’t affect. Self confidence is key to keeping the peace. And we can show that we are confident without saying a single word.

Final Thoughts

The sad truth is, there will always be hurt people in this world who want to hurt others. But if we have confidence in who God tells us who we are, and who we are in the eyes of Jesus Christ, He gives us the strength that we need to face any battle. And when people see that strength . . . when they see that we respect ourselves, they know to treat us with that same respect. Because a person who respects themselves will accept nothing less.

Learning who we are can be a longer process, depending on the person. But as long as we read God’s Word, and reflect on what we mean to Him, we begin to realize that we are worthy of the utmost respect. All we have to do is represent.

Thank you so much for joining me, and I hope that you were inspired! God bless you all! ✨

Sweet Inspiration | 4 Quotes and Bible Verses to Inspire You

I was browsing some of my oldest posts on my blog, and I stumbled upon this one. Not only was the post super underrated, but I wanted to give my followers (new and old) a chance to gain some inspiration with these 4 Quotes and Bible verses. Hopefully they will make you smile, today. Let’s get started! ♡

Quote 1: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

Always remember that nobody else can be you, and therefore, you cannot be anyone else. Embrace who you are, and see the beauty in your authentic self. You are original, beautiful, and one of a kind.

Verse 1: Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

I really admire this Bible verse. It tells us how it’s important that, in all the darkness of the world, we stand out, and be the light. Blending in with the crowd isn’t always the best thing. Therefore, it is best to do things that make you stand out, in a positive way!

Quote 2: “You are braver than you believe and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. – A. A. Milne

This quote can be very much true in some situations. Sometimes, we don’t see the potential that we really have, and how amazing we really are. However, we are brave, strong, and smart individuals, even if the world cannot see that.

Verse 2: 1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

The Lord says to us, that just because we are young, doesn’t mean that we should be looked down upon by adults. God gives us the will to set an example to others through our actions in love, faith, and purity! Therefore, don’t be afraid to spread God’s word! We are all his children!

Quote 3: Making mistakes is better than faking perfections. – Assan Jallow

A lot of us have probably felt the pressure to be perfect. However, let’s be honest: this is unrealistic for anyone except God. Therefore, it is okay to make mistakes sometimes. Our mistakes are part of what make us who we are. Just be yourself, and don’t sweat it when you make a mistake! Your effort is what matters most!

Verse 3: Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

We can be easily tempted to do wrong things in times of trouble. However, always remember to do what is right in the Lord’s eyes. If we do, then we will “reap a harvest,” or benefit from our actions, afterward.

Quote 4: You are enough, just as you are. – Megan Markle

Although this quote is very simple, it holds a lot of truth. Whenever you feel as though you are not enough for a position, a person, or a task, remember that you are enough. You are worthy. As long as you tried your best, you did not fail.

Verse 4: Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If you ever feel intimidated by someone, such as people from school, remember that God is always with you, and he will protect us and take care of us! He never leaves our side, even if we cannot see him as we can each other.

I really hope that you enjoyed these 4 Inspirational Quotes and Bible Verses! Always remember to be yourself and trust in the Lord. He will not give us more then we can handle, and who we show up as in the world should be a light in all of the darkness.

May is National Teen Self Esteem Month | 5 Tips to Improve Your Self Esteem

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may have noticed that self esteem, especially among teenagers, is a common topic of mine. Ironically, I just found out that May is National Teen Self Esteem Month. The first thing I thought; I have to share this with my followers!

Our teenage years are a critical time in development, physically and emotionally. Along with that, teenagehood (childhood) is when we begin to figure out who we are and develop our self esteem and confidence. That being said, today I will be sharing some tips for every teenager (and adult) who is wondering how they can give their self esteem a bit of a boost. Let’s get this party started! ✨

Think positively about yourself. In order to increase self esteem, we need to put in some effort to see ourselves positively. When you look in the mirror, try to focus on what you like about yourself rather than what you wish you could change. Regardless of what other people say, always see yourself in a positive light.

Try a new hobby. You may wonder how this tip could be helpful for self esteem–let me explain. When we are able to gain a new talent, we develop the feeling that we are capable to gain new knowledge. And when we feel capable, we begin to feel more confident in ourselves and our abilities.

Keep a good support circle. The people who are always by your side to support you, through life’s ups and downs, are your support circle. This may be limited to 1-3 people. And if so, that’s okay. The size of your support circle isn’t important; it’s the people in your circle that matters most.

Don’t compare yourself to others. This is a big one, considering that the reason why many think so poorly of themselves is because they are constantly comparing themselves to other people. The media commonly makes the impression that we are “supposed” to look and act a certain way to fit in or be “beautiful.” But we always have to remember that beauty is more than just our outward appearance; beauty begins from within.

Be a cheerful giver. Another great way to boost self confidence is to do something nice for someone in your community. Some examples of this are doing some work in your neighbors’ yard, tutoring a student, or even volunteering for a local soup kitchen. Helping others is another way to help us feel as if we are doing something purposeful, and that we are capable of making positive differences in the lives of others.

I really enjoyed coming up with some tips to encourage growth in self esteem among teenagers, and I hope you were inspired by my words, as well. Remember that God made each of us unique and beautiful in our own, authentic way. We were not made to fit in. Instead, we were made to stand out. Today’s message: just be YOU.

Have a blessed day, everybody! God bless you all! ✨

I attempted to make TWO positive affirmation collage boards…

I have completed about four craft kits by Creatology, all of which I purchased at Michaels, my favorite craft store. As my older followers probably know, I have fallen in love with the craft kits by this particular brand, and I make sure to buy a new one every time I get the chance. Approximately 2-3 days ago, me and Goodmommy saw some more cute Creatology kits right before we got to the registers.

The kit that ended up catching my eye was these two ADORABLE positive affirmation collage boards!

The way that this kit in particular differs from the other Creatology kits that I’ve purchased (and loved) is that it doesn’t include any paint. Instead, it has tissue paper and decorative stickers as the main mediums, which I was a little skeptical to work with for the first time, mainly because of the translucent paper. However, you’ll see later on that I was pleasantly surprised!

Least me say that this kit is LOADED with nice quality supplies. It even came with a ‘supplies included’ list on the back of the box. Overall, it provides 2 card stock boarders, 2 pieces of chipboard, 4 acetate sheets, 1 mirror sticker, 10 paper stickers, 3 glitter foam stickers, 2 colors of yarn, 35 adhesive gems, 180 pieces of tissue paper in a multitude of colors, and an Instruction sheet.

All I needed to complete the project that was not included was scissors and a glue stick, both of which were easily accessible.

Obviously, the kit gives you more than enough supplies, which I found really helpful, especially if you want to give your piece some extra details. I was even able to save some for a possible future project like this one.

The very first step was to add your multi-colored tissue paper in a mosaic design along one of the acetate sheets. I found this step really interesting, considering that you had to work with the rectangular shape, and the arrange the colors to get them to match the border color.

Considering that the one above was for the pink border, I tried to use more hot pink, yellow, and orange to make the color pop!

For the blue boarder, I used more blues, whites, and light pinks to give the piece a more mellow and relaxed feel, since that’s the emotion that I tend to associate with the shade of the blue boarder.

It’s really cool how the two color schemes of the collages have a different vibe about them, despite the fact that I used the exact same colors, LOL.

Afterwards, I glued the side of the acetate paper without the tissue paper on to a piece of chipboard. On top of the tissue-paper-covered acetate, I glued the card stock border of the desired color.

For the final step of assembly, I punched out the two holes at the top of the piece for my string.

After the assembly of each collage was complete, I added the positive affirmation stickers to each. For the pink, I used the 3D sparkly stickers. For the blue, I used the huge star mirror sticker. As the finishing touch, I applied the jewels along the cardstock boarders of each college. And voila! These two masterpieces were complete in only 120-150 minutes.

What can I say? I’m a fast learner! 😋💖🎨

I honestly don’t know what to say about these except that I AM IN LOVE!!! What I appreciate the most is the amount of short positive affirmation messages. Me and Goodmommy decided to hang them up in my room so that I can see them every morning and remember to believe in the princess that God has called me to be.

Every finishing detail was spot on, and I can’t wait for my next kit by Creatology! Each one is getting better and better! To see my other Creatology kit posts, please click HERE.

Have a beautiful and blessed day, everybody! May God bless every single one of you! Peace in! 💖

One of the greatest parts of virtual learning: wearing pajamas

Have you ever worn pajamas while working or at school? Whether you do so often because you do school/work at home or you’ve had a Pajama Day at school, chances are you have at least once in your life. If not, today might be a good day to do so if you are able to–it’s Wear Pajamas to Work Day.

Ever since COVID-19 started, you commonly hear people saying that they’ve worn a work outfit on top and pajama bottoms off camera. And while this was a comfy adjustment for many, one of the luxuries of attending a virtual public school is the ability wear my pajamas, when I want to.

Let’s be fair, pajamas are the ultimate clothing for a slow day of work or virtual school: they’re comfy, colorful, and most of all, convenient. So, if you work or go to school from home, consider spending some of your day in your PJs.

You could even have a pajama party with close family and friends: now that sounds exciting!

Aaannnddd, that’s all for today, folks! Thank you so much for reading and I’ll see you all next time! ✨
