This or That #7 – Hobby Edition

I just checked my This or That category on my blog, and it’s been almost 4 months since I added to this series…let’s change that today.

For those of you who have never seen this series from my blog, I will explain all of the rules. During every This or That episode, I list a series of questions with two options each (for example cat vs dog) and I have to choose which of the items I like more and/or prefer. Today, every question will contain two options that are related to hobbies or extracurricular activities. So, without further ado, let’s do this thing! ✨

1. Video games 🎮 or board games 🎲 ?

While I love a good board game during family night, I’m going to have to pick video games. I play them almost every single day, while I play board games only on certain occasions. Both of them are really fun, but video games are a more natural choice, for me.

2. Writing ✍🏿 or reading 📚 ?

This one is super tough, considering that reading and writing are some of my favorite hobbies. In fact, I think I might need to make it a tie; I love them both equally. Plus, a person can make a living off of either reading audiobooks or writing their own story. Not only are reading and writing fun, but they both give you plenty of opportunities to make a profit while doing so.

3. Blogging 📝 or vlogging 📷 ?

In case you aren’t familiar with the difference, a blog (such as my blog, The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen) is a website that contains frequent posts, commonly filled with informal or casual writing from a person, such as myself. Vlogging is pretty much the same thing, but in video form.

This might not be a shock to you, but I definitely prefer blogging. I posted occasional vlogs on my YouTube Channel for about a year, but eventually I stopped and transitioned to blogging. I find it much more convenient since a blog post requires much less time, editing, and required equipment than vlogging does, in most circumstances.

4. Mobile games 📱 or console games 🕹️ ?

“Easy” is the first word that came to my mind when I thought of this question. Mobile games, all the way. Again, this response has to do with the one that I use the most. I tend to play the mobile game “Roblox” most days of the week. And while I have an Oculus Quest 2 (and I really love it) it’s not much of a go-to game. Since my mobile devices are super easy to pick up and play on, I tend to find myself using them more often.

5. Novels 📖 or comic books 💥?

YAYY!!! Another easy one. For me, the answer is definitely novels. I would agree that comics tend to have a lot more color, therefore they are really good for those who prefer visuals over pages of words. But there’s nothing that compares to a good novel, in my opinion. Novels (including graphic novels, which are somewhat similar to comic books) are definitely some of my favorite types of literature in the universe.

Answer Key:

  1. Video games 🎮 or board games 🎲 ? – video games 🎮
  2. Writing ✍🏿 or reading 📚 ? – both ✍🏿📚
  3. Blogging 📝 or vlogging 📷 ? – blogging 📝
  4. Mobile games 📱 or console games 🕹️ ? – mobile games 📱
  5. Novels 📖 or comic books 💥? – novels 📖

As always, this episode of This or That was such a blast, especially considering that it was focused on hobbies. I’m curious, what are your preferences from each of these This or That questions? Feel free to share your answers in the chat below.

Have a beautiful and blessed day or night! May God bless each and every one of you! Peace in! ✨

My New Phone Case – Thanks, Goodmommy!

I’ve had my phone (which is an iPhone SE) for over 1 year now, and as soon as my Goodmommy gifted it to me, which I am grateful to God for, I also got a phone case to go with it. It has a base color of a light violet with a darker purple, royal blue, and slightly yellow watercolor-like design with silver sparkles on the surface.

Goodmommy was sweet enough to order us both a new phone case! Hers is black with a beautiful red rose in the center and earthy details. Mine has a background of a cheetah print topped with pink, green, and white flowers and gold chains. It’s an off-white color on the edges.

We buy all of our cases, including our new ones, off of Amazon. I really like how flexible they are, and they do their job with protecting your phone (just make sure you get a screen protector for the screen if you want an extra layer of protection.)

Here is a picture to show how it looks outside of the packaging and on my phone:

I hope you all enjoyed! What do you think about my new case? Comment down below.

Have a beatiful day!

My Favorite Emojis and How I Use Them

-ajoyfulchristianteen ✨

Let’s be real here. There aren’t a lot of teenagers, or people with phones for that matter, who don’t use emojis. Their fun, cute, and a quirky way to express your emotions, with or without words. Emojis are definitely a huge part of texting and technology!

So, I’m going to share My Favorite Emojis and How I Use Them!

1. Sparkles

As most of you all have probably noticed, I used the Sparkles emoji almost all of the time. I think I just really love the color scheme, and it matches my personality super well. I will use the Sparkles emoji on my blog posts, as well as in every day conversations with my friends. It’s kind of like my signature emoji.

2. Folded Hands 🙏🏾

As a Christian, the Folded Hands emoji is another one of my go-tos. I love using it when I’m talking about God, or prayer. I might even use it to say “Thank you!” I honestly think that this emoji is underrated. It’ll probably be one of my favorites for a long time.

3. Smiling Face with Hearts 🥰

Even though most people will probably use this with their partner, I just use it with close family members, such as my Goodmommy. It’s really just a short and sweet way to say “I love you,” you know?

4. Party Popper 🎉

The Party Popper emoji is one that I use for celebration. Maybe for someone’s birthday or another special holiday. I really love how decadent and vibrant the color scheme is. Whatever the occasion, it’s a great emoji to use to create a fun atmosphere.

5. Sparkling Heart 💖

To be honest, just about every emoji with sparkles is one of my favorites, lol. The sparkling heart is just really helpful when I’m trying to show support to someone, or show them some love. We all need it.

3 Benefits of Learning How to Code

What’s up, my peeps? Today, I wanted to talk about something new! Now, I’ve already told you guys about my Visual Art class that I’m taking, this year. However, I never told you about my second elective: coding! ✨

Also, just in case you don’t know what coding is, it is basically a set of instructions that tell a computer what to do. Coding is used to make a lot of games and websites. They are also used in a lot of companies. Just a few include NASA, Facebook, and Netflix! And, believe it or not, learning how to code can actually give you many great opportunities for the future! Besides, we practically live in a world where most things are centered around technology.

Let’s get started with the benefits of coding!

#1. It can get you a great job, whether it involves coding or not.

Coding can actually be a great skill to have under your belt, especially because it can help you get a great job, even if it doesn’t involve coding. Many celebrities, such as comedian Jimmy Fallon, NBA star Chris Boss, and actress Angela Basset all know how to code. You may not be aware, but, as well, a majority of companies are in need of coders. By learning how to use different coding languages (such as HTML and Python), you can get a great and well-paying job, even at a young age!

2. It can improve your math or algebra skills.

The steps that are required in coding can include using logic, and breaking down the code, or directions, into small steps to type the code correctly. This not only allows you to practice your critical thinking skills, but it can also help improve your sense of logic or analyzing problems, therefore helping you get a better grade on your algebra test!

3. It be a fun hobby.

If you are a teenager, like myself, you might not be too worried about getting a job, yet. Which, is understandable. I mean, that’s years from now. Even if you aren’t concerned about that type of stuff, coding can still be a fun activity to do. From personal experience, I can confirm that it can actually be quite enjoyable. It could even help your social life, especially if you join a coding club. Also, it makes you feel super smart when you’ve just succeeded to do a new code for the first time, lol.

Okie dokie, everyone! I really hope that you enjoyed those 3 Benefits of Learning How to Code. It can be a hobby, a job opportunity, or even a way to help you improve in algebra class. I mean, that all sounds pretty good to me! ✨

If there’s anything in particular that you’d like me to provide tips or other information about (of course, no inappropriate requests, please), then please comment them down below! You never know, I just might write a blog about your prompts, in the future!

Have a fun, happy, and beautiful day, everyone!
