Video Post + Voice Reveal — My UPDATED Rainbow Loom Collection ♡

What’s up, everybody! I hope everyone is doing fantabulous, today. ♡

About a week and a half ago, I explained how I had recently reignited my passion for looming. And in the process, I showed you some of my “happy foods” or miniature food made completely out of rubber bands. Since then, my collection has almost tripled in size, so I thought I would show you all what I have made within the last week.

But a plain photo would be a little bit of a boring presentation, don’t you think? My followers deserve nothing but the best, so today I filmed a YouTube video sharing my collection with you all one by one. And now that I think about it, I guess you’ll be able to hear what my voice sounds like for the first time, too! It’s like a double surprise!

I hope you all enjoy seeing each of my happy creations as much as I enjoy making them!

LET’S CHAT~Which of my happy foods do you like the best (visually)? Also, would you like to see more video posts, in the future?

Thank y’all so much for watching! God bless you and I will “see” you all again soon! ♡

Living is a Blessing – Words of Wisdom #18

Ecclesiastes 6:9 -- New Living Translation (NLT)
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don’t have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind.

You know, a lot of people say to be thankful for the “simple things.” Like the fact that we have food to eat, that our bodies are functioning properly, and that we woke up this morning. Those events that occur everyday that some people take for granted. And while we should be thankful for every blessing in our lives, I think we should find another word to describe these everyday events; because the thing is, each of them are anything but simple.

Think about it; our house could have set on fire last night, turning all of our food into ashes, but it didn’t. We could have had a heart attack at any moment, but we didn’t. We could have died in our sleep last night or any night before it, but we didn’t.

When we really sit down and think about how quickly blessings can be taken away from us, it’s easier to understand just how miraculous every second of life truly is. And it’s all thanks to our Heavenly Father who keeps us safe in the palm of his hands.

So, you may be wondering what the purpose is behind this message. I have several responses to answer just that.

  • The things that do (and don’t) occur everyday are not simple; instead, they are miracles.
  • It’s easy to take everyday aspects of life for granted until they are stripped away.
  • Enjoy each of life’s miracles, because no second on this Earth is promised.

In short, just about everything around us (and NOT around us) is a blessing in one way or another. God has been good to us in an uncountable amount of ways. And if we take the time to look, they aren’t hard to find. Even though it has it’s joys and trials, life in itself is a miracle. That’s why I thank God every morning for letting me see a new day.

After all, we never know which one will be our last.

Have a blessed day everybody! See y’all later! ♡

Summer Solstice | A Haiku in Honor of Summer

First day of summer
Sun sits lofty aloft
The glistening sea
-- A Haiku "Summer Solstice" written on June 21, 2022 by Princess Q'Zion. All Rights Reserved.

Welcome, everyone to the first–and longest–day of summer! Although a majority of us have already been enjoying the “summer experience” after another school year ended, today is the beginning of the real summer fun.

Today the Earth orbits the Sun at a specific angle, making the large star appear at the lowest or highest point in the sky. Not only is it really beautiful–making it the perfect opportunity for selfies–but its also the start of road trips, family gatherings, visits to the beach, leisurely bike rides, county fairs, and all the other amazing elements of the season of summer.

So I wanted to ask you guys, what are your plans for this spectacular time of year? Traveling across the world? Writing a novel? Eating some hot dogs with your family? Sleeping in at home? There are so many things to do–the list is pretty much never-ending. Feel free to share some of your goals for this summer and/or some things on your summer bucket list in the comments. I would love to hear from everybody!

Thank you so much for reading, and I will see you all next time! Have a happy summer solstice! ♡

Have you ever had an ice cream soda?

As I stated in an earlier post, ice cream is one of the best desserts to have in the summer. But, what about beverages? While water or an energy drink like Gatorade are the best options, soda is one of the most well-known drinks for summer gatherings or road trips around town.

A scoop of ice cream or a can of soda can make for an occasional sweet treat underneath the rays of the sun . . . so could you imagine what they would taste like together? Ice cream sodas, also dubbed ice cream floats, are just the right mix of sweet and savory—perfect for summer time. And National Ice Cream Soda Day is the perfect opportunity to try one if you never have before.

Here is a “Fanta Ice Cream Float” made of orange Fanta soda and vanilla ice cream. You can check out the recipe and make it yourself by clicking on the image.

I remember drinking a root beer float (Root Beer soda with vanilla ice cream) once back in early elementary school while I went to school in person, and I remember really liking the different yet delectable combination. While vanilla is the standard flavor of ice cream to infuse with soda, there are so many ways to be creative with this dessert–no soda is off limits!

Fun, fresh and bursting with variety, an ice cream float is the perfect way to indulge in a little something sweet during scorching summer days.

LET’S CHAT~I’m curious, have you ever tasted (or heard of) an ice cream soda? If you have, what’s your favorite flavor of soda to incorporate in your floats? And if not, what flavor would you like to try, in the future (if any)?

Have a beautiful and blessed day everybody! See you next time! ♡

5 Fun (Yet Practical) Ways to Stay Cool in the Summer Heat

For many people, June is the hottest month of the year. The sun is blazing like nobody’s business, and although we all need some vitamin D, there comes a point where we need to find ways to stay cool in the heat of summer. But the thing is, for many of us its summer break. Not only do we want to find ways to get relief from the sun, but we want to have fun while doing it.

Therefore, today I have listed 5 fun (and practical) methods for staying cool in the summer.

Create a Slip and Slide in Your Backyard

Just in case you don’t have a pool, but you still want to have some fun with water, why not set up a slip and slide. Not only do they give the entire family a chance to get the “water slide” experience, but you can also choose between buying a slip and slide from a store or making one of your own. All you need is a plastic sheet, some anchor pins to hold it in place, water, and a little bit of soap, making this activity both fun and affordable.

Treat Yourself to a Cool Dessert

One of the best ways to get a break from the blazing sun is by treating yourself to a refreshing ice pop, scoop of ice cream, fruit smoothie, slushy, frozen yogurt, peach cobbler . . . you name it! Besides, it’s hard to stay hot when you’re indulging in an ice cold sweet treat.

Go to Your Local Library

A library might seem like a far fetched idea on this list, but let me explain why it’s actually really clever. If your AC is busted or your 90+ temperature is making your house humid, a good idea is to go to a library and/or or another public place that offers cooler air. This way, you can stay out of reach from the sun’s rays and find a few good books, while your at it.

Visit a Waterpark

Let’s be real, no matter how much we try to improvise in our backyards, nothing compares to a visit to an actual waterpark. This idea is perfect for anyone looking for ways to cool off with their family and friends. As you all run through sprinklers, slide down water slides, and lounge in innertubes, you are sure to feel refreshed as the heat melts away.

Have a Water Balloon Battle

The ultimate backyard summer party is an epic balloon fight. With some water balloons, some water, and all the people you love, this activity could serve for hours of entertainment and laughter. All the more helpful for distracting you from the heat of summer.

There are so many ways to have fun in the sun during the season of summer, many of which I listed today. I truly hope they helped ignite some creative ideas of your own, to fill your break with cool, loving, and everlasting memories.

LET’S CHAT~What’s your favorite way to stay cool during summer?

God bless you all and I’ll see you next time! Peace in! ✨

Answering Your Assumptions About Me ♡

Hey, hey, everybody! Happy Monday! ♡

As you can tell by the title, today I will be answering your amazing assumptions about me in celebration of reaching 100 followers and 1,000 likes on The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen. I want to thank all of my supporters, especially my family and friends, for helping me reach this important milestone; I couldn’t have done it without any of you.

I have been super excited to answering all of your responses! So without further ado, let’s get started!

Evin @ A Curly Sue’s Ramblings‘s Questions

1. You traveled out of your country

I have traveled to another state before (a couple of times, actually) but never outside of my country. To be honest, I haven’t even flew in an airplane before lol. But I really love traveling with my family, especially during breaks from school. If I could go to any country outside of my own, it would be either Italy, Spain, India, Canada, and/or Jamaica.

2. You are great at talking with people

Right off the bat, I’m not the type of person to have a long conversation with someone who I don’t know. However, the more I get to know people who I take a liking to, the more I open up to them. In short, I’m not the most talkative around strangers, but I do like to socialize. I have had many pleasant conversations with people, even in larger quantities–therefore, I would say that I communicate extremely well.

3. You have a bookshelf in your room

I sure do! I can see why you would assume this, since I express my love for reading so often in my writing. My 3-tier bookshelf holds about 150 books–about 75% of my collection–most of which I obtained in my early elementary school years. Although I’m not a super sentimental person, the thought of giving them all away doesn’t sit well with me lol. A majority of the books that I read now (novels and graphic novels) are on additional shelving and storage spots that I have in my room. Eventually, I’ll need some more space as my book collection continues to grow, so I’ll probably donate to Goodwill or another nonprofit in a couple years to give me some much-needed space.

4. Your favorite color is red/blue

When people ask me the question “What is your favorite color?” my answer is always a little complicated. My reason? Every color is beautiful and unique, and the spectrum wouldn’t be the same if any one of them were absent. However, I will say that my favorite color right now is purple. I like pink and blue a lot, and purple has a bit of resemblance to both. So I’ll give you 5/10 points for that one. 😉

Thank you so much for your response, Evin! I absolutely loved all of your assumptions–they were so much fun to answer!

Hopefully, this post helped you all get to know me a little better, and maybe even confirm some of the things that you’d assumed about me, too. If you have questions (or assumptions) about me–and I haven’t gotten any from you, so far–feel free to share them in the comments. I would be more than happy to write a PART 2 of this post!

Thanks again for your support! I’ll see you all next time! ♡

Never Have I Ever: Bookworm Edition

While I was brainstorming some more blog post ideas, a Never have I Ever post popped in my head. If you don’t know what this game is, Never Have I Ever is a party game where you list several experiences, and you have to say whether or not you have done it. Except, this time it includes some of the common experiences of bookworms.

Although it was a really random idea, it’s something fun that I’ve never done before. So, why not give it a shot? You get 1 point for each thing that you have never done. Feel free to follow along and answer the questions with me.

1) Smelled a new book….

Absolutely. In fact, I do this whenever I get a new book. Especially graphic novels. They have this distinct smell that I love, for some reason. It’s just like a piece of paper that just came out of the print

2) Took a picture with an author…

Although I’m a little sad to say it, I have not. Though I’d really like to meet Sharon M. Draper one day. She’s a really great children’s book author. If poet Maya Angelou was still with us, I would want to meet her, too.

3) Named a pet after a book character…

Never. I’ve had several betta fish in my life…Peace, Easter and Joyus. Two boys and one girl. But we’ve named them based on their personalities and words that we like. Never a character.

4) Joined a book club…

I was in my school’s book club for 8th grade–which I have now graduated from–and I plan to join again for the next school year.

5) Hugged or kissed a book…

I do this all the time. Hug my books, at least. Especially my favorites.

6) Cried while reading…

I’m not that much of an emotional person. Like all people, I cry sometimes, but that alone is very rare. I’ve been on the verge of crying if there is a really sad or heartwarming part, but I don’t think it’s ever gotten to the point where I actually cried.

7) Attended a book signing…

Unfortunately, no I have not. But I hope that I’ll be able to go to one someday–and host a few of my own when I become a NY Times Bestselling author.

8) Fell asleep while reading...

Never. I’ve definitely read while I was tired before, but I always put my book away when I know that it’s time to go to sleep. I take my beauty rest seriously, lol.

9) Bought an eBook…

I’m not the biggest fan of reading books that I can’t physically hold, even though it’s kind of old school. However, I do have about 3 books in which I purchased on my iPad, so the answer is yes.

10) Laughed out loud while reading…

All the time. I love to laugh, and hence I love reading books that have lots of humor, even in the most intense moments. In my opinion, an author that has the ability to make readers laugh has one of the best secret weapons for writing there is.

I scored a total of 5 points, meaning that there were 5 things on this list that I have never done. Pretty good, if you ask me. Overall, these questions were a lot of fun to answer. It really let me reflect on my many years of loving literature.

LET’S CHAT~Now I’m curious. How many points did you get? Don’t be afraid to comment your score, as well as the numbers that you haven’t done below in the comments.

Have a beautiful and blessed day, everybody! See you next time! ♡

Sweet Inspiration | 4 Quotes and Bible Verses to Inspire You

I was browsing some of my oldest posts on my blog, and I stumbled upon this one. Not only was the post super underrated, but I wanted to give my followers (new and old) a chance to gain some inspiration with these 4 Quotes and Bible verses. Hopefully they will make you smile, today. Let’s get started! ♡

Quote 1: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

Always remember that nobody else can be you, and therefore, you cannot be anyone else. Embrace who you are, and see the beauty in your authentic self. You are original, beautiful, and one of a kind.

Verse 1: Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

I really admire this Bible verse. It tells us how it’s important that, in all the darkness of the world, we stand out, and be the light. Blending in with the crowd isn’t always the best thing. Therefore, it is best to do things that make you stand out, in a positive way!

Quote 2: “You are braver than you believe and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. – A. A. Milne

This quote can be very much true in some situations. Sometimes, we don’t see the potential that we really have, and how amazing we really are. However, we are brave, strong, and smart individuals, even if the world cannot see that.

Verse 2: 1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

The Lord says to us, that just because we are young, doesn’t mean that we should be looked down upon by adults. God gives us the will to set an example to others through our actions in love, faith, and purity! Therefore, don’t be afraid to spread God’s word! We are all his children!

Quote 3: Making mistakes is better than faking perfections. – Assan Jallow

A lot of us have probably felt the pressure to be perfect. However, let’s be honest: this is unrealistic for anyone except God. Therefore, it is okay to make mistakes sometimes. Our mistakes are part of what make us who we are. Just be yourself, and don’t sweat it when you make a mistake! Your effort is what matters most!

Verse 3: Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

We can be easily tempted to do wrong things in times of trouble. However, always remember to do what is right in the Lord’s eyes. If we do, then we will “reap a harvest,” or benefit from our actions, afterward.

Quote 4: You are enough, just as you are. – Megan Markle

Although this quote is very simple, it holds a lot of truth. Whenever you feel as though you are not enough for a position, a person, or a task, remember that you are enough. You are worthy. As long as you tried your best, you did not fail.

Verse 4: Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If you ever feel intimidated by someone, such as people from school, remember that God is always with you, and he will protect us and take care of us! He never leaves our side, even if we cannot see him as we can each other.

I really hope that you enjoyed these 4 Inspirational Quotes and Bible Verses! Always remember to be yourself and trust in the Lord. He will not give us more then we can handle, and who we show up as in the world should be a light in all of the darkness.

Have a fantastic day, y’all! See you next time!✨

Help, Help, Help!!! ♡

Now that I have your attention, let me elaborate on the title. Right now, we have a whopping total of 93 followers!!! YAYY! We are getting so close to reaching 100–and I have a feeling that we will reach that goal much sooner than later.

The last time that I celebrated a follower milestone was at 75 subscribers. For those of you who never saw that post, I did an ABC, All About Me Tag–and you can view that HERE— where I told you all a little bit more about myself. It was a lot of fun to thank you all for your support with such a fun post!

My idea for celebrating 100 followers is something pretty similar to that. Maybe a Q&A (where you guys ask me questions that I answer), or some assumptions about me. I know that I want to do something to help you guys become more familiar with who I am, but I want to see what your ideas are, too.

Feel free to share your thoughts for an 100 follower special, down below.

Have a beautiful and blessed day everyone! God bless you all! ✨

My Summer Bucket List [2022]

What’s up, peeps? Summer break is coming much sooner than later, and that means it’s time to start brainstorming what we can do to pass the next couple months. That’s when the idea came to me…a summer bucket list!

Today, I will be sharing some of the things that I would be happy to accomplish this summer. While this list is purely for entertainment purposes, feel free to use some of the points here as some inspiration for your personal list, as well. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get started!

1. Pay more frequent visits to the library.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve stepped foot into a library. But to be honest, I’m ready to kill that streak–I want some new books! Whether I go to my local library, or add a few books to my personal collection from a bookstore, reading is definitely on the radar for what I want to do this summer.

2. Go to the beach at least once.

Even before COVID hit, me and my family have never been too much of beach-goers. That being said, if there’s any time to hit the beach it’s summertime. Having some fun in the sun will definitely make for a refreshing summer day.

3. Read the Bible more often.

In the mornings, I want to commit my time to God by spending a few minutes reading His Word. Summer time is about growth and gaining wisdom, and there is no better way to do that than reading the Bible and spending time with my Heavenly Father.

4. Do weekly art activities.

As I stated in a recent post of mine, weekends and breaks from school are my favorite times to indulge in my hobbies. To be fair, I’ve been painting, drawing, and crafting pretty frequently already. But I still want to put in the effort to continue to perfect my art skills over summer break.

5. Enjoy the great outdoors–and take lots of photos while doing so.

One of my favorite parts of the season of summer is the photogenic views. Nature is flourishing everywhere you look. And you know what that means; I’m going to have a lot of mini photoshoots whenever I get the chance.

6. Have family game nights with Goodmommy.

Family game nights with Goodmommy are always a blast, but it’s dawned on me that it’s been a while since we’ve actually had one. This summer, I’d like to spend more of my free time with my family as we do fun things together.

7. Go to the aquarium.

Do I miss going on family trips like this. I’ve had this on my mind for a little while, but I think that the weather and amount of leisure time of my break will be the perfect time to pay a visit to our local aquarium for the first time in years.

8. Reach a minimum of 125 followers.

It truly is a huge blessing from God that I already have almost 100 followers! YAYY!!! Since the summer will give me a substantial amount of time to improve my blog, I am hoping that we can reach at least 125 followers before school resumes.

9. Start journaling or scrapbooking

I would really love it if I got an instant camera, that way I could store some of my memories from my summer into a scrapbook or journal–it would be a great opportunity for me to get a little crafty.

10. Take a tour of my desired college

Since I’ll be entering freshman year (9th grade) this August, it’s about time that I start looking at colleges. Me and Goodmommy have already scheduled a private tour of the college that I have in mind, and I’m super excited about it!

This post was such a fun idea that I’m so glad that I was able to bring to life! I can already tell that this summer is going to be an amazing time filled with family, laughter, love, and lots of fun memories.

Furthermore, I’m excited to see how much of my bucket list I was able to fulfill when my 2022 summer break comes to an end.

LET’S CHAT~What are some of the things you want to do this summer?

Have a blessed day, y’all! Peace in! ✨
