Prayer is a Powerful Weapon – Words of Wisdom #14

What is prayer? And furthermore, how do you pray?

Prayer is a huge part of Christianity. And if you’re anything like me, you pray every single day, multiple times a day. Chances are, you’ve heard the word prayer several times in your life. But have you ever really learned what the true definition of prayer actually is?

For this addition of Words of Wisdom, in celebration of the National Day of Prayer (May 5th), I will be sharing why prayer is so much more than bowing your head and putting your hands together. Prayer is having a conversation with God; it is a resource, a weapon that God has equipped us with. But it’s up to us to use it. Let’s get started! 🙏

How Do You Pray?

Matthew 6:9-13
"This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

The reason why I feel like this scripture is important is because it explains exactly how we need to pray, even in today’s time. Here is a breakdown of what this scripture reveals about the power of prayer.

  • “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,” — first of all, it is important that we acknowledge that we are talking to the Lord. In this way we are giving our conversation with Him our undivided attention. Prayer is our spiritual and intimate time with God. Therefore, we need to remember to stay focused on Him, when we do pray.
  • “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” — this is how we say, “let God’s will be done,” as we are admitting that God’s way is the best and only way.
  • “Give us today our daily bread.” — a huge part of prayer is to ask God to bless us. If we have the desire for something, we need to humble ourselves and request it of our Heavenly Father. He already knows what we need. But He also wants us to come to Him so that He may meet those needs. Never forget that while we can give out requests, we should also thank God for what He has and is blessing us with.
  • “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” — in prayer, we must be sure to ask God for forgiveness of our sins. And in order to gain God’s forgiveness, we need to forgive others that have sinned against us. In order to be forgiven, we must forgive. (Matthew 6:14-15)
  • “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” — prayer is a weapon because it is a way for us to protect ourselves against the temptations and attacks of the enemy. As we ask God for Him to deliver us, we can be released from the attempts of the enemy to distract us from the Lord and all that He has in store for us.

What are the Benefits of Prayer?

Although I already talked about some of the reasons why prayer is powerful, I would like to wrap up these Words of Wisdom with just a few of the endless benefits of prayer.

  • Prayer helps strengthen and further develop our relationship with God.
  • Prayer gives us the answers that we need.
  • Prayer helps us resist giving into temptation.
  • Prayer can ignite miracles.
  • Prayer gives us inner peace.
  • Prayer allows us to lift up other believers, and whoever God puts on our hearts and minds.

If you get nothing else from today’s post, just remember this: we are able to talk to God 24/7. He is never too busy, and He is always anticipating our call. He has given us a gift to be able to access Him in all times of need. And we must admit that even if He doesn’t answer in the way we expected He will always answer. God is good like that.

So never take the power of prayer for granted; because prayer is a powerful weapon.

God bless you all! I’ll see you next time! ✨

Whom Shall I Fear? | A Christian Poem ~ Reblog

Hey, everyone! In honor of Good Friday–a day of remembrance and appreciation for what Jesus did for us–I will be reblogging a poem about the Prince of Peace today. The title that popped in my spirit was Whom Shall I Fear. It’s a poem based on Psalm 27:1, about how with Jesus, everything and anything is possible.

I hope that this poem will inspire you mightily. Enjoy!

Whom shall I fear?

When You are the Lord of lords, and the King of kings

You are good and Your mercy endures

As your many angels sing

Whom shall I be afraid?

When You are my stronghold and my refuge

You’re always by my side

And I can’t deny that you always pick me up, at the oh-so-perfect time

Why shall I be wary?

When You are a promise keeper; You speak truth with your words

No love of any kind compares

To how Christ loves the church

Who am I to You, my Heavenly Father?

I’m the apple of your eye

A branch of the vine

You set me free and made me Your daughter

Who can come against me?

When You have won this battle

Before any hand can touch me

No matter where I travel

So, whom shall I fear?

When You are the leader of the world

The many boys and girls

And pure white pearls

Thank You, Jesus

I know this to be true

Because of who You are, there’s nothing to fear

Hence, my godly fear for You

Overall, I had a lot of fun writing this poem. What I love about poetry is how you can use words to paint a picture. It’s almost like a painting, but you decorate the canvas with your words instead of art supplies. Plus, any creative platform that allows me to talk about the goodness of God is one that I favor.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a beautiful day, and God bless you all!

A Day in My Life | The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen ♡

Hey, y’all ~ how are you doing? Fantabulous, I hope!

Today, I wrote a post that will show you guys who I am outside of my blog and learn more “about the author.” I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while, and today is the perfect day to show you all a day in my life. Basically, this will be a review of how I spend my average weekday. Plus, a few updates on my life (my schooling, pet, art, etc.) along the way.

Considering that the idea for how this post would come together has been brewing in my mind for so long, I hope that you all enjoy experiencing a day in my life!

Let’s get this party started!!! ✨

8:30 AM ~ Time to Wake Up + Breakfast

Usually, it’s at about 8:30 in the morning when I wake up (thank God) to the sound of Goodmommy’s voice. This is the time that I’m getting ready (clean my bed, brush my teeth, etc.) to start my day. After I get ready for school, I come downstairs to eat breakfast. However, I don’t have to go anywhere, since I’m homeschooled, as most of you know.

And if you’re new, welcome! Hopefully that explains why I don’t wake up at around 6:30 in the morning LOL.

10:00 AM ~ Schoolwork

Now, it’s time for me to get some work done. My weekdays consist of approximately 7 hours of school time each, with an hour lunch break, in between. Every day, I tend to have these live classes in Zoom with my teachers and peers to go over the topics we will be learning in the week. And guess what, y’all~I’m maintaining all high A’s!!! YAYY!!!

Let me explain the fan LOL. So for my Science live classes, which are every Thursday, we pick a color that we all wear along with an accessory. We realized that we hadn’t worn brown yet, and I came up with the idea to bring some type of fan. It’s super fun to get all dressed up and interact with my classmates. Live classes are definitely one of the highlights of my school time.

2:00 PM ~ Lunch Break

This is pretty much straight to the point. Around this time, I’ll eat my lunch, browse the National Days for that day, and maybe even post something on Instagram if I have time. Today we ate some cabbage (with bacon bits) and some air-fried frozen fish fillets. It was delicious!

3:00 PM ~ More Schoolwork

After my break, I do a couple more hours of schoolwork to finish what I started. It consists of a lot of reading, typing, quizzes, and note-taking. This is the time where I feel very productive knowing that I was able to submit a lot of assignments.

I hope you enjoy my aesthetic note picture, LOL..

6:00 PM ~ Family Time

At this time, I usually go upstairs to see what Goodmommy’s doing in her office, have a snack, watch TV, read a book, and/or do something artistic to continue to polish my art skills.

Below is a drawing that I did yesterday of Camilo Madrigal from Encanto, since he’s one of my favorite characters from the movie, which I love, by the way. Especially for my first attempt to draw this character. P.S. I posted a video of how I did the drawing as well as a comparison from this frame in the movie on my Instagram account @princessqzion. I would really appreciate it if you checked it out!

And of course, I have to say hello to my fish baby after I’m finished with my work. Peace, my betta fish, gets super excited whenever he sees me come up to the tank. It’s shocking that such a little fish can swim so fast~especially when he’s really happy. I got this gorgeous picture of him today. For some reason, I think he knows that I’m filming him; it’s almost like he poses for the camera.

8:00 PM ~ Blog Brainstorming

Eventually, it’s time to get back to my creative space and begin to brainstorm what my daily blog post will be. Sooo…today, I actually got this idea, a day in my life, really early, but the time that the idea pops into my head or spirit fluctuates. After all, no day is the same.

9:00 PM ~ Video Games + YouTube

After all my work for the day is done (school ✔️, blog post ✔️) then it’s time to have some fun! I usually browse YouTube videos and/or play Roblox on my iPad or Beat Saber on my Oculus Quest, too. This is my time that I might catch up on social media, too.

This is a video making slime based off of Cheetos. Fun Fact: I LOVE food-themed slime videos. You know when you used to absolutely love something…and one day you stopped liking it. And then, a year later, you love it again? That’s my relationship with slime videos in a nutshell.

10:30 PM ~ Dinner + Family Time

Afterwards, it is dinner time, family time, and the time where we rest before it’s time for bed. Me and Goodmommy, who is my grandmother and guardian will usually watch our favorite cooking and/or judge shows. On Fridays, we love to watch Moriah Elizabeth, a YouTube star who paints on almost anything imaginable.

This is the time where we really get to bond and check up on each other. Spending time with Goodmommy is one of the best parts of my day. P.S. Goodmommy works during the day and night, so that’s why we eat so late. ♡

12:30 ~ Bedtime

Finally, it’s time to get ready for bed. After another beautiful day, there’s nothing better than giving God thanks for a beautiful day and getting a good night’s rest.

Thank you so much for reading about my daily schedule. I hope you all continue to have a fabulous day and night! God bless you all!✨

The Beauty of Jewelry

Exodus 35:22 NIV (New International Version)
All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord.

Jewelry has many different purposes: a representation of our faith, our culture, our family history, our relationships, our sense of fashion, and the list goes on. In the Bible, it was even used as an offering to the Lord.

One of my favorite things about jewelry is that it doesn’t have to be super extravagant or flashy. Jewelry can be as simple as a chain or as elegant as a thick beaded necklace. Even the smallest piece can enhance an outfit by adding the small but sweet “cherry on top.”

Considering that Goodmommy has her own jewelry business, she is always super sweet when she shows me the jewelry that she’ll know that I’ll love (that’s just how well we know each other.) It’s amazing how even a small necklace or simple earrings can tie a whole outfit together and make even the most casual attire elevated with elegance. Plus, it’s another way of displaying our love for God, and as followers of Christ, it’s important that people can see the Lord in us as His examples. I have my own jewelry box in my room to keep everything organized.

This short-and-sweet post dedicated to National Jewel Day was a joy to write. Me and my family love jewelry for more reasons than one, and I thank God that we can use jewelry (in a tasteful manner) to give Him glory.

Question of the Day: Which type of accessory do you like the most (rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.) Feel free to comment down below. (P.S. my personal favorite would be both necklaces and earrings :))

Thanks so much for reading! Have a beautiful and blessed day, everyone! 💎

Do our names affect who we are in Christ? – Words of Wisdom #8

You all know your names. But have you ever taken the time to look at what your name actually means? Let’s take some of the most common American names, as examples.

Nancy – filled with grace

Anthony – worthy of praise and admiration

Donna – lady, mistress of the house

Anna – God has favored me

Justin – just, upright, love

Christopher – bearer of Christ

Sofia – wise or wisdom

Zion (similar to my name, Q’Zion) – Mount Zion, city of God, a holy place

Shoutout to everyone who has one of the names that I mentioned (I may have incorporated a couple of the names of my family members LOL.) But, back to my main point for this episode of Words of Wisdom, I wanted to talk about our names and whether or not they affect who we are in Christ. I would say no, and I will gladly explain why.

Let me just state that I do think that what you name and call people is important, as you are sewing a seed as to who you want them or expect them to be as a person. Every time we are called our names, we are called something of a greater purpose. Our name likely either had a sound or meaning that our parents (or whoever named us) took a liking to.

The reasons why I say no to this question–Do our names affect who we are in Christ?–is because you can be named Michael (gift from God) or Christina (follower of Christ) and then go down a completely wrong path. Yes, our names are a part of our identity, they do not define who we are in Christ.

God has already stated who we are throughout His Word. He says;

  • We are loved. (John 3:16)
  • We are forgiven when we forgive others. (Mark 11;25)
  • We are redeemed. (Romans 5:1)
  • We are chosen by the Lord to be His. (Deuteronomy 14:2)
  • We are God’s children when we receive Him. (John 1:12)
  • We are justified by faith. (Romans 3:28)

These are the things that God says that we are. And if God says it, we know that it is the truth. While a couple of these are conditional, they are also unwavering between all of us, regardless of our names.

So, in conclusion, while our names may be important, what really matters is who God says who we are, as well as the choices that we make and the path that we choose to take in our lives, regardless of what our names mean. But just remember that you are loved and chosen by God. Even though none of us deserve it, He chose us to be His children. What a blessing from God (thank you, Jesus!)

So, for this National Learn What Your Name Means Day, feel free to tell me in the comments, what does your first name mean?

Why positive affirmation is critical…

Everybody needs some positive motivation here and there. When we are motivated, we are driven to create and reach our goals with both engagement and tremendous effort. If motivation wasn’t a thing, how would we get things done? Specifically the things that we don’t always want to do.

Motivation is inevitable. It can come from just about anyone, anything, and anywhere. It could be a well deserved pat on the back or a kiss on the cheek. We can even give ourselves a dose of motivation. Particularly with a tool that I like to call positive affirmation.

I’ve been trying to personalize my workspace, a bit more, so I decided to print some motivational quotes that I can read to myself everyday. Although I just put it up on my bulletin board (after customizing it to add some personal touches) it definitely helps me start my morning off to a great start.

If you have a good support system, then that is a wonderful thing. However, motivational words can’t always really sink in unless you believe them, yourself. You have to have faith, too. This is exactly where the positive affirmation, or positive self-talk, comes in.

Some ways to practice positive affirmation include:

  • Putting up positive messages around your workspace or room.
  • Repeating uplifting sentences when you are getting ready for the day. The more you say it, the more you can start to believe it, increasing your self confidence.
  • Using sentences that start with “I am” or “I can” followed by a positive trait about yourself or a personal goal.
  • Remain optimistic, even through possible bumps in the road.
  • Put in your best effort to reach your goals. Believe that you can reach them.

Using positive affirmation in your daily life may take some time. And when you’ve mastered it, there’s no going back! Just remember that whatever you set your mind to, even if it seems impossible at times, with your best effort and just a little faith, you can surely succeed. You just have to believe it.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Picture Post + I got a late Christmas gift!

Hey, everybody! Happy Tuesday to you all.

You might’ve already checked out the other post on my blog where I shared what I got for Christmas of 2021. For the most part, I’ve been using my remote control car and making a lot of art with my new supplies. However, I hadn’t worn any of the clothing that I received yet (which included a winter tracksuit, a few scarves, and one of my favorite gifts of last year, the multi -colored top that I was able to wear today.)

Here’s a few — or maybe a lot, lol — of pictures that I took this morning, before me and Goodmommy left the house. We usually message our pictures to each other, and when I did so today, I told her that I basically took a mini photo shoot! I must admit though, the pictures did end up coming out pretty great.

Another thing that I mentioned on my Christmas haul was a gift that I hadn’t received yet, and that was a beautiful soft pink comforter. I had been anticipating getting a new one since I got my own room, so I was so thankful when I found out that it would be one of my late Christmas gifts. And guess what! It came in the mail today.

As soon as I came home, the first thing that I did was set it up! Well, after I took some pictures of how my bed looked with the other comforter. While I really love the original, as well, I’m thankful that I was able to get an additional one. Now, I will be able to switch from one to another when I want to switch it up a little. I thank God for all of the blessings that He has placed in my life!

I wanted to save one of my favorites for last. I also did a post where I showed the gingerbread houses that Goodmommy and I made in early December (of 2021). This is a really beautiful picture that we took before we started filming. The whole process was super fun! Family time is always to be cherished!

And that’s all I have for you all, today! Thank you so much for stopping by. If you enjoyed this post, please like it and follow my blog, if you have yet to do so.

What’s your favorite Christmas gift? If your answer is an item, which ones have you used the most?

Have a blessed day, everyone! ✨

Keeping the Peace

Keeping the Peace

-ajoyfulchristianteen ✨

Hey, y’all! I hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday! I know that some of us will be going back to school after Thanksgiving break soon, so I wanted us to check on our peace today. How are we doing and feeling today? In all things, we need to make sure that we have peace.

Having peace is good for our mental, physical, and spiritual health. God gives us an inner peace, that differs from the peace that the world may offer. Of course, sometimes we will go through trials and tribulations, and this is exactly why we need to make sure that we have a good relationship with our Heavenly Father.

God always answers our prayers, even if it is in a way that is unexpected. All we have to do is cast our cares on Him, and He will answer us. We should ask God for peace to remain in our hearts, minds, bodies, homes, and in our everyday lives.

There are several ways that we can have the peace of Christ, including;

  • Keep a healthy relationship with the Lord.
  • Forgiving others and yourself.
  • Studying the Bible and scriptures about peace and our mental health.
  • Laughing and smiling more often.
  • Not walking in hate, but in love.

There are many ways that we can choose to maintain peace in our lives, and how we want to do so is our choice. Just remember to try to walk in the Love of God, and do things that will be productive for good health, inside and out.

Have a peaceful day, everyone! ✨

Why We Should Speak Life

Why We Should Speak Life

– ajoyfulchristianteen ✨

Believe it or not, unfortunate things can happen in our lives because of ourselves. That’s right, we can be a huge part of the cause. Why? Because we may be constantly saying things that are negative. We may say that traffic is going to be bad today, and when we get on the highway, it is . If we convince ourselves that we will fail on our test, it’s not a surprise if we end up getting a failing grade.

The words that we allow to come out of our mouths have a lot of meaning. Much more than we give them credit for.

Today, I want to talk about “speaking life,” or saying faith-filled, loving, positive words, that can improve our lifestyles on the whole. This is because it allows us to change our perspectives on things that the world may see as negative, and giving them a positive spin.

God’s light never dims. It is a bright, scintillating, divine light that never fades, but only becomes brighter. And that light is always visible somewhere in our lives because the Lord never leaves our side.

But it’s up to us to acknowledge His light. And I say acknowledge because, a lot of the time, we do see God’s light. We see the positivity and grace that He has placed into our lives. But sometimes, we may not acknowledge it. Instead, we might focus on the dark, and all the things that we wish were different or the things we wish weren’t there.

Challenge:

Try not to complain about anything, aloud or in our heads. Instead, let’s do our best to focus on God’s light. ✝️

Remember, all we have to do is focus on Him. As long as we obey the Lord’s commands, we will be blessed in many more ways than one.

Proverbs 18:21 NIV – The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
