Fun and Classic Board Games to Play with Your Family this Thanksgiving

Fun and Classic Board Games to Play with Your Family this Thanksgiving

-ajoyfulchristianteen 🍁

During the wonderful celebrations at the end of the year, there are so many ways that we can be merry and bright with our families. Personally, I love eating yummy food, like Turkey, or watching a movie to get the festivities going. But, this is only a small amount of the many ways to have fun with your family and really make this Thanksgiving special!

To give you some ideas that are fun and not centered around our cell phones, here are some Fun and Classic Board Games to Play with Your Family this Thanksgiving ! 🍁

1. Jenga

Jenga has been one of my favorite board games since elementary school. It is a family friendly game where you get to stack up small, wooden blocks to create a tower. Afterwards, each of the players take turns with taking one block from the tower and then placing it at the top. The player who causes the tower to fall ends the game.

Although, I will admit that this game can be super intense, it is also really fun, so much that it can be hard to put away!

Recommended Age: 6+
Required Players: 2 or more

2. Pictionary

Whether an artist or not, you will likely have a great time with your family while playing Pictionary. On this innovative journey, there will be two teams of 2 or more. On each team, each player will take turns drawing an image on a board based on a word that they read off of a card. The other player(s) have to try to guess what the secret word might be. Correct answers will allow the team to advance on a gameboard, and the team that reaches the finish square first wins.

Not only will this game encourage each person’s creativity, but it can cause a lot of laughter, especially if you are “bad at drawing.”

  • Recommended age: 8+
  • Required players: 4 or more

3. Uno

Uno is another classic that requires nothing but your loved ones and a stack of Uno cards. The deck includes 25 cards of each color (red, blue, yellow, and green), as well as cards to assist you while you play, such as wild cards and reverse cards. Once a player has one card left, they must shout “Uno!” and the player with no cards left first is the winner! It’s definitely a favorite in my family!

  • Recommended Age: 5-6+
  • Required Players: 2 or more

4. Twister

In Twister your body will be twisted…literally. One person will spin a spinner to figure out on which circle the players need to put each hand and foot. This game will surely bring your family closer together when you all eventually fall on the floor and laugh due to your funny twisted positions.

  • Recommended Age: 6+
  • Required Players: 3 or more

5. Connect Four

Connect Four

Last, but not least, is Connect Four. The objective of this game is pretty much exactly as it sounds. There are two players, one with red chips, and the other with yellow. It is each player’s goal to get four chips in a row first, whether it is vertically, horizontally, or even diagonally. Whoever has four of their chips in a row first is the winner! It’s definitely a great choice if you are looking for something short, sweet, and super addicting!

  • Recommended Age: 6+
  • Required players: 2, but possibly more, if there are teams of more than one player.

Hopefully, you will have a great time playing one, two, or even a few of these awesome and classic board games with your family this Thanksgiving! However, even if these types of games aren’t your thing, there are so many ways that you can be creative to make this celebration one that will never be forgotten among you and the ones that you love!

Have a beautiful, blessed, and blooming day, everyone! 🍁

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Remember that kindness is a blessing. If anyone has been kind to you, kindly say, “Thank You!”

1 Corinthians 14:4-8 –

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

The Broad Difference Between Confidence and Cockiness – A Deep Dive Into Reality

It’s a really good thing to love and appreciate ourselves. Self confidence is crucial in order for us to live our best life possible! The question is, how do we know when this confidence goes too far? 💜

Let’s dive into the reality of the difference between confidence and cockiness!

What is confidence?

First of all, let’s take a look at the dictionary meaning of the word “confident!”

To elaborate on this, confidence is basically when you know who you are. You might be wondering exactly what this means. I am basically saying that confidence is when you love yourself, and this love remains, regardless of the opinions of others.

In other words, confidence is appreciating yourself for who you are as a person, both inside and out!

What is cockiness?

Again, here is the dictionary definition of cockiness:

The world “overconfident” is a perfect synonym for cockiness. When a person is cocky, it means that they are confident to the point to where they think that they are superior, or better, than everyone else.

Being cocky is a negative thing, because it takes confidence to an extreme where a person can loose their sense of kindness, humanity, and humbleness.

How can we be confident, but not cocky?

Here are the golden words: awareness and humbleness. If we are aware of the words we say, the things we do, and the choices that we make, we can help boost our images, not only to others, but, most importantly, to ourselves.

Remember the people who have made positive contributions in your life, and don’t take those people for granted.

Kind and Humble Challenges:

Think about all of the people that helped you become who you are today, even if they are not with us, anymore. Write a letter to them, thanking them for their contributions to you.

Sometimes, we can be too “prideful” to ask for help. However, it’s important that we practice asking for assistance when we need it. Show willingness to learn and thank those who do or have helped you.

If we make a mistake, then we need to apologize for it. Still, remember that is normal to make mistakes. The truth is, the only way that we can keep ourselves humble is by recognizing our faults.

I hope you all enjoyed this post about Confidence vs. Cockiness.

Remember, it’s possible to be both confident and humble. It is important that we love ourselves and know who we are. However, we should never take it to the point where we put ourselves on a pedestal because we are “better” than others.

Besides the Lord, everyone makes mistakes, and that’s okay! Just be sure to love yourself, in spite of.

Have a great day, everyone! 💜

It’s Fall, Y’all! 3 Ways to Celebrate the Season of Fall!

Brown, orange, and yellow leaves falling from the trees, and pretty pleasant weather. What season is it? Fall! There’s an endless list of things that I love about this season. The nature and the weather is so beautiful around this time of year. Besides, it’s a great time to do so many exciting activities and bond with your family, in the process! 🍂

To celebrate this wonderful time of year, I’m going to share some Exciting Ways to Celebrate the Vibrate Season of Fall! So, come on! Join in the fun!

  1. Create Thanksgiving-themed crafts! 🍂

I remember how, in elementary school, I would create turkey and leaf crafts, coloring with fall-colored crayons. Making fall or Thanksgiving themed crafts can be an awesome way to really get into the fall spirit. If you do want to get creative, invite your family and friends to join you, as well! Besides, the more the merrier!

2. Decorate your house 🍂

Like Christmas, Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to make your house a lot more festive! If this is your goal, try to buy (or make) fall inspired decorations to spruce up your home! If you aren’t the type of person who likes extravagant decorations, it might be a good idea to put a fall inspired reef on your door! Although this decoration is simple, it can really add some charm to your front porch.

3. Play with the leaves! 🍂

Sometimes, it may be a little boring when raking leaves that have fallen in your backyard. However, I believe that there is a way to make this a lot more fun! Make “leaf angels,” hills, and maybe even a sculpture out of the leaves with your parents, friends, and/or siblings. And here’s the best part: you can jump in the leaves when you’re finished! This is an extremely fun activity for people or families who don’t mind getting a little dirty. Just remember that you’ll all have to rake up the leaves after you’ve had your fun, lol!

I hope you all have an amazing time celebrating fall with your families! If you decide to do anything fun or special, for this season and/or holiday, feel free to comment your experiences down in the comments!

Have a joyful and peaceful day, everyone! Peace! 🍂

5 Positive Effects of Playing Video Games

How is everyone doing today? Good, I hope. So, it is a pretty well known fact that most teenagers, including myself, enjoy playing video games. Some adults even enjoy playing them, as well. They’re fun, entertaining, and, you might not be aware, but video games can be more then just fun and games. This is exactly why I wanted to share with you all 5 Positive Effects of Playing Video Games.

Reminder: Although video games can be very beneficial, like any activity, they should be used in moderation. Many people, including teenagers and adults, become addicted to video games as a result of playing them too much. There’s nothing wrong with playing video games. Just remember to always make time for family/friends, school/work and rest.

So, let’s get into it!

  1. They can inspire creativity and imagination.

With each new video game that you play, you are transported into a world with many fun events, characters, and cool places. By being in this environment, people can be inspired to be creative and use creative thinking in their every day lives. You never know, playing video games might even inspire a person to make their own game, one day.

2. It can help improve your vision.

I’m sure that most teenagers can remember at least one time in their lives that their parents have told them “Don’t stand to close to the TV.” But, it is actually scientifically proven that video games, when played moderately, can help your vision. During a scientific test, people were asked to play video games with their best eye obscured. These same people were able to detect even the smallest changes in the color gray. Therefore, playing the video games were actually proven to strengthen their weakest eye.

3. They can help you excersise.

I wouldn’t be a surprised if I found out that most people believe that video games prevent a lot of people from being physically active. Although this opinion is probably pretty common, it is not true, in all cases. Personally, I play a game with my Oculus Quest 2 called Beat Saber. Beat Saber and many other games using virtual reality can actually help improve your physical activity and stamina.

P.S. you can check out the purple link above to check it out! You will need to purchase an Oculus Quest 1 or 2, as well as the game, in order to be able to play.

Okay….Beat Saber can get a little more intense than this, lol.

4. Video games can improve your social life.

I think that a decrease in social activity is another stereotype towards people that love video games. However, like the last one, this opinion can be false, in some circumstances. Lots of games allow you to communicate with gamers around the world, who you can game with. You could also join a Gaming Club or Pop Culture Club where you could share your love of gaming with others!

(Just remember to never give personal information away to strangers.)

5. It can help you increase your reading level.

You know how some parents say “Put that video game down and read a book.” Well, while reading a book is always a great idea (see why by hitting this link), a lot of video games do include some type of reading, whether it is the directions on how to complete a task, or the dialogue of different characters.

Okay, everyone, I really hope that you learned something from these 5 Positive Effects of Playing Video Games! Remember that playing video games can be a great thing. However, video games should be a hobby, job, or skill, and not your life. There are many other aspects of your life that also deserve your love!

Have a healthy, fun, and imaginative day, everyone! See you next time! ✨
