Be Natural. Be Beautiful. Be YOU.

Beauty is skin deep. Sure. It may sound a little cheesy, and you’ve probably heard it a zillion times. You might even be tired of hearing it. But, despite how cliche it might be, this saying is absolutely true.

Valentine’s Day is about love, which is wonderful because God is love. And while February 14th is centered around the love we have for others, we also mustn’t neglect appreciating and loving who God made us to be.

Tomorrow is International Natural Day, also known as International Day of Self-love. Y’all already know that that’s a biggie on my blog. So, of course, I had to discuss it today. Whether you have a partner or not, the days before Valentine’s Day are to help remind us that we don’t need everyone’s validation.

It is a chance for us to realize and believe that we are all precious in God’s eyes. He said that we are the apple of His eye. And don’t be mistaken; God doesn’t look at what we look at. People will look at height and outward appearance. But God looks at our hearts. And as long as our Heavenly Father is pleased with us, both how we live our lives and who we are inside, then that is all the validation that we need.

Valentine’s Day is a day for us all to celebrate both inner and natural beauty. It is also to show those who we love, and who the Lord has placed in our lives to love us just the way we are, that we appreciate them, care for them, and are thankful for them.

And mind you, self-love doesn’t mean that we should be cocky or arrogant. It doesn’t mean that we should be putting ourselves on a pedestal. The first commandment is to love the Lord our God with ALL our soul, with ALL of our mind, and with ALL of our strength. The second is to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. (Mark 12:30-31 NIV) God ALWAYS comes first.

When I say “self-love” I mean coming to terms with the fact that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image. Living our lives as Jesus Christ sees fit, and respecting ourselves because we know that God loved us enough to give His one and only son to die for our sins.

“Self-love” is knowing that we are worth it because God sees worth in us. If God, the King of kings and Lord of lords loves us so much as to give up His only child, then we must be worth loving. We are worth loving because God loves us.

Have a beautiful day, everyone! Always remember that God IS love! ✨

Top 5 Christmas Traditions that Help Make the Holidays Memorable | Blogmas Day 9

Top 5 Christmas Traditions that Help Make the Holidays Memorable

-ajoyfulchristianteen ⭐

Christmas is a special holiday, filled with love, family, joy, giving and sometimes gifts. While there are so many things that make this day special, there is nothing like the Christmas traditions. These activities that many people do each year to celebrate can make amazing memories and allow for quality time with our families and friends.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite Christmas traditions ! ⭐️

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Every year, me and Goodmommy never forget to set up a festive Christmas tree. It’s just so satisfying to add our personality to it with unique ornaments and garlands to add a little texture. And that final angel or star on top wraps it all together like a bow does a gift. To me, Christmas trees are one of the best ways to light up our home with the Spirit of Christmas.

Christmas Movie Marathon

Sitting on the couch, binging classic and new Christmas movies is definitely a favorite in my house! The nostalgia that I get, and the laughter that it causes is so memorable, and a huge part of the reason for why it’s a tradition. Hallmark Christmas movies are our favorites to splurge on as soon as November begins!

Advent Calendars

I think that advent calendars are so whimsical, and bring even more excitement to the holidays as you wait for Christmas Day to arrive. The suspense from not knowing what trinket you’ll receive next makes them so fun to have. Especially as a family.

Gingerbread Houses

A good gingerbread house can definitely be a joy, especially when you have a close family member or friend by your side. Sure, they can be a little tricky, and messy, to put together, but it’s super fun to look at your work, when you’re done. And the best part? They’re edible, of course!

Christmas Dinner

When Christmas Day finally arrives, the anticipation is over. Me and my whole family get together, and we have a wonderful Christmas dinner. A huge part of Christmas is spending time with family, so any tradition that centers around my loved ones is one of my favorites.

Christmas traditions are simply ways that we celebrate the Christmas season. To be honest, these examples are just a glimpse of the many things that you can do with your family this time of year. The list is almost endless with many festive possibilities!

Have a blessed day, y’all! ✨

5 Ways to Encourage Personal Development

5 Ways to Encourage Personal Development

-thejoyfulchristianteen ✨

Look in the mirror. Say what you love about yourself. Maybe you love how you treat others, or how energetic you are, or how you look. Perhaps you love all of the above and more about yourself. If so, give yourself a round of applause! You have developed self confidence!

Now, look in the mirror again and say what you could improve about yourself. I know that for some people, self improvement and actually acknowledging how you can do better is just a way to lower your self confidence. I want to explain that this is not the case.

If we take the time to improve ourselves in a way that we love, then we will begin to love ourselves more and more, because we are becoming more of the person that we want to be.

Let’s discuss 5 Ways to Encourage Personal Development!

#1 – Acknowledge ways that you can improve.

Chances are, you have at least one thing that you could do better. Maybe it’s being kind, having a better diet, or improving something that you are already good at! Whatever it is that you want to improve in, you can do so! But the first thing that you need to do is think about what it actually is that you want to improve about yourself.

#2 – Walk towards your goals with tiny steps.

Goals that you make to develop yourself for the better take time to complete. Make sure that you reach the goal with small, tiny steps forward. The only way that you can put all the effort that you can into your goal is by being patient with yourself, and taking your time to reach it.

#3 – Improve your communication.

A huge skill for your personal development is learning how to communicate with others. Keep in mind that communication is more than speaking. It is also being willing and able to listen to what others have to say. Communication skills are required for many jobs on the market, so once you master communication, many doors could be available to you!

#4 Learn to be willing to take healthy risks.

Some things in life can be scary, and it’s normal to feel unsure about some things. Especially as a teenager. But part of life is learning how to be brave, and do things that might scare you or make you nervous. Conquering your fears can be another great step towards personal development.

Just remember, we also have common sense! If you are contemplating doing something that could hurt you in any way or that you don’t want to do, then it’s probably better not to do it!

#5 – Don’t beat yourself up when you make a mistake.

If you make a mistake, then that’s alright. To be honest, most of the time we are our own biggest critics. When you do something that is wrong, just apologize, do better in the future, and move on. Mistakes are what help us grow and learn. So if and when you make one, learn from it instead of beating yourself up.

I hope you all enjoyed learning about ways that we can improve ourselves for the better! Be sure to comment down below #selflove if you want to see more posts about self improvement in the future!

Also, keep in mind that self improvement is not improving yourself for others. It is impr0ving yourself for you! As long as you are content with yourself and what you are doing, then you are on the right track!

Have an amazing day everyone!

Is It Best to Be a Leader or Follower?

Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog! Today, I wanted to talk about leading and following. Some people might wonder which one is best. Is it better to be a leader and do your own thing, or is it best to follow others? Sometimes, we might feel confident and want to stand out a little bit. However, other times, we might want to follow others. To be honest, it all depends on the person, and whether they’re and introvert or an extrovert.

If I’m being honest, this question can be a little complicated to answer. But, in my opinion, I think that both have a time and place. If that doesn’t make sense, I would be glad to break it down for you.

So, let’s say you are about to go to class, and you overhear that all of your classmates are planning to skip class. Well, in this is an example of a situation where you would want to be a leader. If people around you are doing something that you know is not right or even necessary, (especially in God’s eyes if you are a Christian), then it is best not to participate in that behavior.

In other words, some situations are better handled when you do your own thing.

However, I also explained that sometimes it’s best to be a follower. The reason why I say this is because God gives us people in our lives that we are meant to follow. Some examples are Him, our parents, and maybe even a friend that has a positive, I repeat, POSITIVE influence on you. Some people in our lives are their for us to respect and obey.

Even in adulthood. Not all parents are a good influence, but if they are, then it is still best to love and respect them.

Remember: God gives us our parents for a reason.

Okay everyone! I hope that you learned from this break down on being a leader and a follower. In conclusion, being a leader and a follower have their times and places. Just be mindful of who has a positive and negative influence, and base your involvement with people on that. Also, remember that nobody is perfect, so it is okay if people make mistakes. If you are ever struggling with this concept, just ask someone you trust about this.

Have a happy, amazing day everyone! ✨

5 Ways to Maintain Healthy Hair

Hello again, my beautiful audience! Guess what I did today? I got my hair done! To be honest, it took a really long time to do. In fact, it was the longest that it has ever taken to get my hair done. Not that I’m surprised, because I have a lot of hair. But, to be honest, the results ended up being worth it! ✨

My experience inspired me to focus my post on How to Maintain Healthy Hair (no matter what the texture is)! Of course, since school is now in session, it’s important that we all keep our hair looking fabulous, don’t you think?

Note: This is reblog of one of my most popular blog posts. Because you all seemed to like it so much, I thought that it would be a great idea to post it again!

Besides, the best days of school are usually the ones where your hair is looking and feeling its best. Why? Because when you look better on the outside, you feel better on the inside! And who doesn’t want to feel great about themselves? Am I right?!?

So, are you ready for some healthy hair tips?

Yes? Let’s get started!

  1. Look at the ingredients in the products that you use.

Sometimes, it’s easy just to get a conditioner because of the price tag, but have you ever taken the time to actually look at the ingredients? It can be something that we don’t pay attention to, but it’s really important to know what we are using on our hair. Using products that are right for your unique locks create the best results! Besides, who wants to pass on a voluminous hair flip?

2. Master a brushing technique. ✨

Honestly, most people don’t enjoy tangled hair. For one, it doesn’t look great, and two, detangling can be really painful. Even though it is important to keep your hair tangle free, it is also important that the way you brush your hair isn’t done mindlessly. Experts have said that it’s better to brush the bottom of your hair first, then work your way up to the roots. Using the correct technique when brushing your hair can make managing it simpler and less painful!

3. Be sure to use protection! ✨

Before you use a hair straightener or any other heated tool on your hair, make sure to use a heat protector. Heat protectors are meant to moisturize and condition your hair, as well as protect them from getting heat damage. Plus, it might be at least a little harder to burn a huge chunk of your hair off after using a flattening iron, so that’s a plus!

4. Get your edges trimmed often. ✨

It might sound a little unbelievable, but trimming your ends every once and awhile can encourage hair growth! Trimming can also help get rid of dead and split ends, therefore, making your edges look more even, and healthy. So, if you want to grow your hair longer, then I would definitely take this tip into consideration!

5. Educate yourself on your hair. ✨

What’s one of the best ways to maintain healthy hair? Learning about it! By knowing details about your locks, such as the texture and how often you detangle it or use hair products, you can automatically use that information to keep it healthy. Do research on what products you should use and how you should brush your hair. I’m sure you’ll love the results!

Alright, my beautiful viewers! I really hope these 5 Tips to Maintain Healthy Hair helped you with keeping up your fabulous back-to-school hairdos.

Don’t forget that keeping your hair healthy is important for your overall health! Not only does it look absolutely fabulous, but your hair can hair can be very healthy, manageable, and beautiful as we all enter the new school year, and look like the best version of yourself in the process!

Have a wonderful, happy, and healthy day, kind people! ✨

4 Positive Calming Mechanisms

Hey everyone! Today, I wanted to talk to you all about something that’s pretty important. I’ve had several family friends or people on social media that I have seen go to the hospital and pass away because of a time where they were upset. You might not be aware, but if you allow yourself to become too angry about a situation, it can actually harm your mental and physical health. ✨

It is very important that, at all times, we stay as calm as possible. Especially because this COVID situation is already enough to be a little concerned about. This is exactly why I think it is a great idea to share 4 Positive Calming Mechanisms with you all.

Let’s get started!

  1. Write down your feelings.

This is a technique that even I use sometimes. Whenever you are feeling sad, mad, or maybe even anxious about something, it’s a really great idea to write down your feelings in a journal, without showing it to anyone else. By the time you are finished, I’m sure that your feelings will have come under control.

2. Take a deep breath.

Sometimes, it’s important that we take a few seconds to take long, deep breaths, or maybe even count to 5 or 10. Using this calming mechanism can give you a moment to relax and compose yourself, before you do anything that you might regret in the future. Using a few seconds to calm yourself can really help when you are upset.

3. Do some yoga or take a walk.

Taking a peaceful stroll in nature or doing a few stretches can both be very relaxing. If you ever feel a little stressed out about anything, doing something that is healthy for your body can help to maintain and/or improve both your physical and mental health. Besides, even if you don’t have any intense feelings, at the moment, it’s always a great idea to exercise to keep yourself healthy.

4. Listen to some calming music.

If you enjoy music, try listening to jazz, classical, gospel, rock, pop, or whatever type of music you like in order to calm yourself down. Let’s be honest, it’s pretty hard to be angry or sad when you’re listening to your favorite song or songs by your favorite artists. Music is a very powerful tool, and can also be an amazing calmative.

Okay everyone! I hope that you all benefitted from these 4 Positive Coping Mechanisms. Remember, we all get angry sometimes, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it’s important not to act negatively on that anger.

Have a healthy, happy, and delightful day everyone! ✨

Do You Like My Braids? #NaturalHair #BlackIsBeautiful

Hello, everyone! How has your day been? Today, I went to the hair salon and got a hairstyle that I really love! Read further to find out where the inspiration for my style came from! ✨

So let’s get started!

About 1-3 weeks ago, My Goodmommy redid her hair in braids that went to the side. Of course, I absolutely loved this hairdo, and wanted it for myself, as well. Of course, I had just gotten my hair done at that point, so I had to wait for three weeks to get my hair redid. Omg 😩

A day or two before my next hair appointment, my Goodmommy asked me what style I wanted. I was glad that she thought of asking me this, because I hadn’t figure that out yet. However, when I thought about it, which style do you think I picked?

Yep. The braids in a bun! ✨

This is how my hair looks after the stylist blow-dried and combed my hair. Yep, I have a lot of it, lol.

Overall, the experience was really enjoyable, especially since it was my first time getting a completely braided style at a salon. What I really love about braids, especially on natural hair, is they can last for up to 3 weeks, especially if you sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes!

This was especially convenient, considering that my birthday is coming up super soon! And, who doesn’t what their hair to be fashionably fashionable on their birthday, am I right?

I am absolutely in love with my natural hair! 💕

Okay, everyone, I really hope you enjoyed this blog post about my natural hair! ✨

Also, comment down below if you prefer me to post things like this, where I give you a glimpse of my real life, or when I provide tips and advice to you guys about different things. Maybe you like it when I do both! Whatever you prefer, please comment your opinion down below! If you like both, please let me know which one you want me to do more, and I’ll try my best to satisfy the requests!

How to be a Good (or Better) Older Sibling

Hello, fellow teens! Have you ever heard of the term “copycat”? If not, a copycat is a person that copies another person’s actions, behavior, and words. If you are a big brother or sister, you probably know that this game is never-ending when you have a younger sibling. ✨

Believe me, I know from experience that having younger siblings can be a challenge, sometimes. They come in your room, they talk to you until they drop, and they might even take your clothes. However, the only reason why they do this is because they look up to you as a person and sibling.

It is for this reason that I wanted to give you guys some tips on How to Be a Good (or Better) Older Sibling. Besides, everyone deserves a little TLC once and a while, and I do not mean from the reality show network, I mean tender love and care! ✨

So, are you ready? Let’s get started!

  1. Have patience. ✨

You know, at certain times, this tip might be a little easier said than done. It can be a little irritating if your younger brother or sister is bothering you until wits end. However, it is also good to try your best to talk in a more calm voice. Yelling not only makes you upset, but it could also encourage your younger sibling to continue their behavior. Sometimes, the best thing is to take a long, deep breath!

2. When you need some alone-time, don’t be afraid to get it. ✨

Let’s be real, privacy is one of the main priorities of most teenagers. If your younger sibling seems to be a little more talkative then usual, then it’s okay to ask them to go into their room, your parent(s) or guardian(s) room, etc. Besides, if they don’t listen, you can always tell your guardian.

3. Spend time with them. ✨

Usually, even if they annoy you to your last nerve, it is extremely common for younger sisters and brothers to admire their older siblings. It’s very important to take some time everyday, and spend at least a little time that involves just you and your younger sibling. It not only will make them feel appreciated, but it also creates a stronger bond and might get you a few minutes of peace.

4. Be a good role model.

Whether you believe it or not, your younger sibling learns by watching your example. Never forget, that what you do is your way of teaching them what is right or wrong, even if you don’t say it to them. It’s kind of like how we view our parents. So please, be mindful of what you do, as your younger sibling(s) is watching!

5. Remember, you can and will make mistakes. ✨

We are all humans, not robots. Believe me, there will be times where you mess up and possibly say something that you shouldn’t say. And that’s okay. Everyone makes mistakes, now and then. If you ever do make a mistake, then just apologize to your sibling and do better in the future. Mistakes are just learning experiences or lessons.

Okay everyone! I really hope that you enjoyed those 5 Tips on How to be a Good (or Better) Older Sibling. Remember, our younger siblings might be on our backs, all of the time, but it is only because they love and look up to us! Never take that for granted!

Have a loving, wonderful, and kind day, beautiful people! ✨
