5 Tips for Overcoming Your Fears

Hey, everybody! This is Q’Zion, and welcome back to my corner of the Internet! ♡

Let’s talk about fear. It’s a word that we have all heard once or twice, at the very least. And while for some, it’s just another word in the dictionary, other people may suffer from anxiety on a much more regular basis. While fear is not a bad thing, it’s important that we don’t let it take control. The only thing is, that can be a lot harder said than done.

This being said, conquering our fears is an amazing way to help us become more compassionate, confident, brave, and wise human beings. Plus, it’s a big help when it comes to checking things off of our bucket lists. And since July 26th is National All or Nothing Day, it made perfect sense to talk about just that.

To help you start your journey, here are a few tips for conquering your fears. Let’s get started! ♡

Start Small

When we learn how to swim, we don’t just dive right into the deep end; instead, we learn the basics and build on our progress. Facing fears is a very similar process. Instead of diving into the things that make you nervous head on, sometimes its better to take baby steps. This not only helps prepare you for the time when you face your fear, but it also helps to build your courage and confidence, in the process.

Realize That The Only Way You Can Fail is If You Quit

One of the biggest obstacles that can get in the way of facing a fear is the thought of failing your mission. But in the scenario that you try and things don’t immediately go as planned, that is only a bump in the road so long as you keep giving your all to succeed. But the journey only stops if we give up. Remember that the bumps in the road are just another part of your road to victory.

Be Kind to Yourself

While doing our best is of utmost importance in life, making sure that you’re taking care of yourself is, too. Therefore, if you ever do encounter one of those bumps in the road, give yourself some time to recoup with a short session of mindfulness. Whether that is taking some deep breaths, taking a nap, or reading a book, never punish yourself for making mistakes along the way. After all, love is one of the gems of life. We should never take it for granted.

Turn Your Fear into Fuel

Life is filled with a handful of trials, and fear is one of them that we all have to conquer at one point or another. But instead of ignoring our fears until they multiply, try to use it as a drive to make every effort to conquer the anxiety. A lot of times, it’s the trials in life that can make us stronger than ever. All we have to do is turn our fears into fuel.

Acknowledge Your Achievements

Even though there are some trials in life, we mustn’t ignore the endless list of joys. During every journey, there tends to be some type of achievement or growth that occurs along the way. Therefore, make sure to give yourself positive rewards for the things that you’ve done to achieve your goals. These celebrations serve as an extra push in the right direction of facing a fear.

I know that facing a fear is a process, but I hope that these tips will help make it easier for anyone on their journey. Keep in mind that as long as we keep the faith that we can and will succeed, there is nothing that we cannot achieve. Thank God for victory!

We teach others how to treat us — Words of Wisdom #17

While there are good people in this world, everyone encounters those who want to put us down; to make us feel unworthy or angry. Even if we do treat others how we want to be treated, and follow the words of God to the best of our ability, it seems like there are always people who try to steal your joy.

So the question remains; why do some people try to treat us like doormats?

The answer to this question can vary on the situation. It could be because they are having a bad day and want someone else to feel how they are feeling. It could be jealousy. Or they could just be that type of person. But something that we always need to remember is that as followers of Christ, the way we represent both God and ourselves is a crucial part in how we teach others to treat us.

The way we react to certain situations and how we carry ourselves makes a huge difference in how we are treated. When certain people try to deal with their emotions, some of them will try to mess with those who appear vulnerable in some way: whether that is physically, emotionally, or relating to personal self-esteem. They look for an easy target–or someone who is insecure in who they are.

For example, if a group of kids in school decide to pick on a child, and the victim begins to appear emotionally hurt, chances are the bullying will continue, and maybe even get worse. But if the victim simply ignores the bullying, without displaying any visible reaction to the teasing, the bullies will likely move on. The reason is because, no bully is going to waste their time picking on someone who they can’t affect. Self confidence is key to keeping the peace. And we can show that we are confident without saying a single word.

Final Thoughts

The sad truth is, there will always be hurt people in this world who want to hurt others. But if we have confidence in who God tells us who we are, and who we are in the eyes of Jesus Christ, He gives us the strength that we need to face any battle. And when people see that strength . . . when they see that we respect ourselves, they know to treat us with that same respect. Because a person who respects themselves will accept nothing less.

Learning who we are can be a longer process, depending on the person. But as long as we read God’s Word, and reflect on what we mean to Him, we begin to realize that we are worthy of the utmost respect. All we have to do is represent.

Thank you so much for joining me, and I hope that you were inspired! God bless you all! ✨

Go-to gospel songs that are always on my playlist ♡

Disclaimer: I DO NOT own the rights to ANY of these songs, nor to I have any permissions to them. They belong to their rightful owners.

Hello, beautiful people! Happy fantabulous Friday!

Earlier this afternoon, me and Goodmommy completed a lot of household errands together. And while in our SUV, we played some of our favorite gospel songs. To me no genre compares to how I feel when I listen to music of my Heavenly Father.

Gospel music makes me feel optimistic, light, and increases my faith in God. And the feeling is different from that of any other musical experience. It’s almost like a weight off of my chest–especially when I’ve had a really busy day.

After our gospel binge, I was inspired to share some of my favorite songs on my ‘Gospel 💜’ playlist–as well as an explanation for what they are about and what I enjoy about them. Hopefully, this beautiful music will reside with you just as much as it did me. Enjoy!

You’re Bigger by Jekalyn Carr

As far as I’m concerned, Jekalyn Carr is an example of a young, talented, yet underrated artist in the gospel industry. This song of hers is about how God is bigger than the size of the universe, all of life’s problems, the disasters of the world, and what the world has to offer us. The theme of this song hits me so hard, as it helps me remember that no matter what I face in life, God is bigger than that. And He has already won the battle for me and ALL people love Him.

Close to You by BeBe and CeCe Winans

Happy. That’s the only feeling that I can describe when I listen to this song; pure bliss. Exactly as the title states, it’s about how amazing of a father God truly is, and how that makes us—followers of Christ—want to know Him, spend more time with Him, and get closer to Him. I have played this song on repeat for over 100 times in my lifetime. And do I regret it? Not one bit! Brother and sister duo CeCe and BeBe Winans sound super good together, and really help bring this cheery song to life.

I never lost my praise by Tramaine Hawkins

The truth is, life is not always easy. There are a number of bumps in the road, and many of them are completely out of our control. At times like this, we need to praise the Lord just as much as we would when everything is good, fine, and peachy. This song is a much-needed reminder of just that. Even when we loose family, friends, blessings, opportunities, and other materialistic things, we should never loose our ability to pray and praise the Lord. When we trust in Him, anything is possible.

Put it on the Altar by Jessica Reedy

I feel like this is also a song that anyone could put on a workout or positive vibe playlist, because its so upbeat that me and Goodmommy can’t help but dance every time we listen to it. When we put things on the altar, or pray to God to deliver us from a situation, He always has an answer to our prayer. We are never alone, thanks to Him. If you are looking for an inspirational song that you can dance to, then this is a great option for you.

Something Out of Nothing by Jessica Reedy

One of the qualities that I love most about the Lord is that He sees the best in us, even when we can’t see the good in ourselves. Despite what we do–and the mistakes that we all make–He always looks at our hearts. This is a second song by amazing artist Jessica Reedy about how God sees a masterpiece in us. This song is super emotional and has gotten close to bringing me to tears. The message is so powerful that it can minister to anyone, regardless of their current circumstance, and I appreciate that greatly. God can deliver us from ourselves when we maintain our faith, even when we can’t understand why. He’s just good like that.

I can only imagine by Tamela Mann

Those of us who have salvation in Jesus Christ can only imagine what Heaven will be like when our time comes. The Bible is one of our only sources of description of the true Promised Land. But how will we feel? What will we do? Will we cry happy tears or stand silently in awe? There are so many unknowns for how amazing the moment that we enter the Kingdom of God will be, and this gorgeous melody covers many of them. Tamela Mann truly has such a unique, powerful voice. For years, this has been one of my favorite songs of all time–and it still is to this day.

Mercy Said No by CeCe Winans

Life is full of tight spots; those times where we are super close to hitting rock bottom. ‘Mercy Said No’ explains that it’s at these moments that God’s mercy says no, and He helps us rise again. CeCe Winans truly has an anointed tone, and that has made her one of my favorite gospel artists for as long as I can remember. This being one of my first gospel songs, it will always be super close to my heart.

What we feed our spirits and minds on a daily basis are extremely important, not just as followers of Christ, but also as human beings. And one of the best ways that I get closer to God is by listening to gospel music. I truly hope that you all enjoyed reading about and listening to each of these songs. It truly was a pleasure to share them with you guys.

LET’S CHAT~Have you ever listened to any of these songs before today? If not, do you have any song recommendations for me?–they can be gospel and/or clean motivational songs. Thanks, y’all! ♡

Have a blessed day, everybody! See you later! ✨

The Unchanging God – Words of Wisdom #16

Numbers 23:19 - New International Version (NIV)
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Every morning, me and my Goodmommy say a prayer. Today, one of the things that I said was “Thank you (God) that you are not like man. Because if you were, we wouldn’t be here.”

I find it miraculous that even though we as people may change, the world may change, and seasons may change, God remains the same. He keeps every promise that me makes. He does exactly what He says He is going to do. He loves us regardless of how much we fall short of His glory. Even in all the darkness of the world, which is constantly in construction–economically, politically, socially, religiously, and in entertainment–God is an everlasting light that never falters through it all.

What a friend we have in God.

All in all, it is crucial that we as followers of Christ acknowledge and show gratitude that God isn’t like us. He could’ve executed all of human kind when He flooded the Earth, but He didn’t. He could make promises and then not go through with them, but He doesn’t. He could have called me home this morning, but He didn’t.

The reason why God is the unchanging God has nothing to do with us, besides his unconditional love for us. We have done nothing to cause this; if anything, we are undeserving of His unconditional love. Regardless, He gives it to us anyway. And that is a trait that we should all be thankful for. Thank you, Jesus!

Have a beautiful and blessed day everybody! See you later! ✨

Sweet Inspiration | 4 Quotes and Bible Verses to Inspire You

I was browsing some of my oldest posts on my blog, and I stumbled upon this one. Not only was the post super underrated, but I wanted to give my followers (new and old) a chance to gain some inspiration with these 4 Quotes and Bible verses. Hopefully they will make you smile, today. Let’s get started! ♡

Quote 1: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde

Always remember that nobody else can be you, and therefore, you cannot be anyone else. Embrace who you are, and see the beauty in your authentic self. You are original, beautiful, and one of a kind.

Verse 1: Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

I really admire this Bible verse. It tells us how it’s important that, in all the darkness of the world, we stand out, and be the light. Blending in with the crowd isn’t always the best thing. Therefore, it is best to do things that make you stand out, in a positive way!

Quote 2: “You are braver than you believe and stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. – A. A. Milne

This quote can be very much true in some situations. Sometimes, we don’t see the potential that we really have, and how amazing we really are. However, we are brave, strong, and smart individuals, even if the world cannot see that.

Verse 2: 1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

The Lord says to us, that just because we are young, doesn’t mean that we should be looked down upon by adults. God gives us the will to set an example to others through our actions in love, faith, and purity! Therefore, don’t be afraid to spread God’s word! We are all his children!

Quote 3: Making mistakes is better than faking perfections. – Assan Jallow

A lot of us have probably felt the pressure to be perfect. However, let’s be honest: this is unrealistic for anyone except God. Therefore, it is okay to make mistakes sometimes. Our mistakes are part of what make us who we are. Just be yourself, and don’t sweat it when you make a mistake! Your effort is what matters most!

Verse 3: Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

We can be easily tempted to do wrong things in times of trouble. However, always remember to do what is right in the Lord’s eyes. If we do, then we will “reap a harvest,” or benefit from our actions, afterward.

Quote 4: You are enough, just as you are. – Megan Markle

Although this quote is very simple, it holds a lot of truth. Whenever you feel as though you are not enough for a position, a person, or a task, remember that you are enough. You are worthy. As long as you tried your best, you did not fail.

Verse 4: Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If you ever feel intimidated by someone, such as people from school, remember that God is always with you, and he will protect us and take care of us! He never leaves our side, even if we cannot see him as we can each other.

I really hope that you enjoyed these 4 Inspirational Quotes and Bible Verses! Always remember to be yourself and trust in the Lord. He will not give us more then we can handle, and who we show up as in the world should be a light in all of the darkness.

Have a fantastic day, y’all! See you next time!✨

I read my original poem to an audience for the first time… ♡

Today I had another meeting with my Creative Writing Club. Every month we have an Open Mic Night, where we as students can submit our original works in Google Forms to read aloud to the group. In celebration of April, National Poetry Month, every presentation for today’s meeting was a poem or another short form of writing.

School is almost over, this is the last open mic night of the year, and I had never shared any of my original work with the group. Due to these factors, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get the exposure that I needed.

I decided to use the poem that I wrote for International Women’s Day, “Words to Women” as my selection. And sure enough, when the club leader announced who would be speaking today, I saw my name as number 5 on the list.

Although I was nervous about the whole thing going into it, I became more relaxed as I heard each student read their original works. A majority of the poems were about self confidence or female empowerment, and they all seemed to connect to each other in some way, which I thought was really cool.

What I love about this club so much is that it gives me an opportunity to meet people who love to write, just like me. Not only did tonight’s meeting give me a chance to learn and gain inspiration from others’ work, but I was even able to share what I liked about each poem, and provide positive constructive criticism if the author requested it.

When it was my turn to read my poem, the whole thing went by very smoothly–I knew that what I had wrote was good. I was a little shocked at the flood of positive feedback that popped up in the chat. Many of the other club members repeated a quote of the poem that identified with them or gave positive comments such as how they liked how I talked about our differences and how they make each of us beautiful.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a writer is knowing that your work was able to touch a person and remind them of themselves. Poetry can be interpreted in many different ways. And one sentence can hold a lot of power.

Overall, I shared this with you all today to remind you that it’s good to step out of your comfort zone, from time to time; it feels so good to know that you conquered a past fear or challenge of yours.

Some things can be nerve wracking to think about doing, especially when that something is sharing your original work in front of an audience. However, when we are doing something that makes us nervous, it shows that we care. Not to mention that it gives us room to grow as people.

I hope this was able to inspire you, today. Don’t forget to be thankful for every moment, because we never know which one will be our last. May God bless you all; peace in! ♡

The Best Advice for ALL BLOGGERS (Wannabes, New, and Veterans)

While being a blogger is an excellent hobby, skill, and for some, job, it can be a little overwhelming for others. About 8 and 1/2 months ago, I remember being very excited to start my new blog…but also slightly nervous. Monitoring your own blog is like a new adventure that can be a little challenging to start, just because most of us don’t know what outcome to expect.

However, just because it’s a challenge doesn’t mean that it isn’t worthwhile. Here is some of the BEST ADVICE for any blogger, whether you’re contemplating whether you want to be one, you just became a blogger, or you’ve been one for years. I bet that in no time, you’ll be blogging like a pro!

Keep a Positive Mindset — The truth is, we can’t do anything to the best of our ability if our mindsets are not positive. Keep in mind that blogging is a good source of income, but it is also a source for you to improve on your writing, spread the word about a topic that matters to you, inspire others, and simply BE YOU! If we start blogging with a negative perspective, then how can we expect to grow?

Don’t Procrastinate–Do It Right Now– If you know you want to do a blog or that you want to be more active on your blog but you keep putting it aside, let me tell you that procrastination is never going to get anyone anywhere different. Obviously, it can be hard to try something new, but if you feel that it would be beneficial to you, what’s stopping you from doing it? If we procrastinate, we are simply saying in the same spot. And sometimes progress requires us to move.

Think about the Journey and the Destination — You may set a goal that you want to earn 100 followers or make $10 a week from blogging. Small goals like this are a great way to think about your future and the progress that you want to make with your blog. That being said, don’t get too caught up in getting so many followers or so much money from it (unless it’s your job, of course.) Instead, think of the smaller forms of progress that you are making. For example, you may be getting more views or comments then you were 1 year ago–that’s progress!

Even if They Don’t Say Anything, People Are Watching– I think one of the main reasons for inconsistency among bloggers is that they aren’t getting the amount of response from their audience as they would like or anticipated. Gaining an audience who will comment on EVERY post can take time to build. Besides, many times people will just read your posts to see if you will be consistent before following you. Just because they don’t like or comment, doesn’t mean they don’t like your content. We just have to KEEP PRESSING!!!

Be Authentic — In all honesty, the blogs that are written by someone who isn’t trying to be like every other blogger are some of my favorites. When I look for quality content, I want to read about someone who I can relate to, learn from and be inspired by. Those are the blogs that are real, funny, and fun to read. What I’m trying to say is, just be your authentic self in your blog–trust me, it makes a big difference.

Posts where I get to inspire others are the most fun to write. As bloggers, we have more fun when we are writing and posting about what we love. We begin to think more about the meaning behind each post and less about statistics. In everything, just remember to appreciate every victory–both the large and small. Each one will help us reach our final destination.

Thanks so much for reading and I’ll see you next time! God bless y’all! ✨

Whom Shall I Fear? | A Christian Poem ~ Reblog

Hey, everyone! In honor of Good Friday–a day of remembrance and appreciation for what Jesus did for us–I will be reblogging a poem about the Prince of Peace today. The title that popped in my spirit was Whom Shall I Fear. It’s a poem based on Psalm 27:1, about how with Jesus, everything and anything is possible.

I hope that this poem will inspire you mightily. Enjoy!

Whom shall I fear?

When You are the Lord of lords, and the King of kings

You are good and Your mercy endures

As your many angels sing

Whom shall I be afraid?

When You are my stronghold and my refuge

You’re always by my side

And I can’t deny that you always pick me up, at the oh-so-perfect time

Why shall I be wary?

When You are a promise keeper; You speak truth with your words

No love of any kind compares

To how Christ loves the church

Who am I to You, my Heavenly Father?

I’m the apple of your eye

A branch of the vine

You set me free and made me Your daughter

Who can come against me?

When You have won this battle

Before any hand can touch me

No matter where I travel

So, whom shall I fear?

When You are the leader of the world

The many boys and girls

And pure white pearls

Thank You, Jesus

I know this to be true

Because of who You are, there’s nothing to fear

Hence, my godly fear for You

Overall, I had a lot of fun writing this poem. What I love about poetry is how you can use words to paint a picture. It’s almost like a painting, but you decorate the canvas with your words instead of art supplies. Plus, any creative platform that allows me to talk about the goodness of God is one that I favor.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a beautiful day, and God bless you all!

The Biblical Meaning of a Rainbow – Words of Wisdom #11

Psalm 145:13 New International Version (NIV)
13
...The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.

There is no doubt that rainbows are beautiful. Whenever I see a line of beautiful colors, it makes me feel happy to know that God put it within my eyes’ reach. As soon as I saw that it’s National Find a Rainbow Day, I knew that this would be the perfect topic to blog about.

And, speaking of rainbows, the question of the day is, what exactly is God saying to us when He places a rainbow for us to see? What message does a rainbow convey? Thankfully, the answer (just like the large majority of the questions that we may have in life) is found in the Holy Bible.

Genesis 9:13-16 New International Version (NIV)
13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.

As scripture confirms, the rainbow is a symbol representing God’s promise to us that He will never flood this Earth again to destroy life of all kind. In other words, He will not repeat the same scenario that occurred when He flooded the Earth and commanded Noah to make an ark to carry himself, his family and a male and female animal of every species.

The rainbow is evidence of how The Lord is a promise keeper, and He will do what He says He will do. It is one way that God shows us who He is and how much He loves us. Thank God that He is not like man, who will break a promise in a heartbeat. Let’s talk real, people: If God was like man, we wouldn’t be here.

That’s exactly why whenever I see a rainbow, I always say: Thank You, Jesus.

Have a beautiful and blessed day, everybody! See you next time! 🌈
