An open letter to my younger self…

Dear younger self,

First of all, let me say that I love you, and I know what you’re facing: I was you. While I’m not that much older than you, and I still have much to learn, I hope that you will read these words with an open heart. God has given me lots of wisdom, and like you I am learning every day. I still have things that I need to do and I still have imperfections. But through it all, God has always been there for us, and He always will be. This is the advice that I have for you.

Just be you. I know that you may look in the mirror and see imperfections. But God says that you’re beautiful, inside and out. Even with your flaws, you are the apple of His eye. Don’t ever look in the mirror and wish you looked like someone you’re not. From now on, when you look at your reflection, say “If God says that I’m beautiful, then I think so, too.” The more you say it, the more you’ll believe it. Just shine. Be the the light in the darkness that God chose you to be.

It’s okay to have just a couple friends, because sometimes “friends” can be the same people who will try to take advantage of you in your highs and abandon you in your lows. However, through it all, God is your friend. You are your friend. Goodmommy is your friend. And you might even meet one or two more friends along the way~but don’t rush it. For the Bible says that a friend will stick closer than a brother. And considering that we have a great little brother already, I know that can be pretty hard to beat, LOL.

Keeping the peace is more important than being right. I know that you’re a perfectionist. I am, too. Naturally, we want everything to be perfect all the time. Sometimes, we might think that something isn’t fair or that someone owes us an apology. We might think it in our heads. But a rule to always remember is avoid speaking everything that pops up in your brain. Every thought isn’t meant to be spoken. And if you ever need guidance, pray about it. God will tell you what to do. He’s good like that.

Don’t compare yourself to people. There will be times where you may look at someone else and think that they’ve got everything together. They may always have the biggest smile on their face. They may be popular. They may be pretty. They may be rich in money and jewels. But never forget that sometimes only God knows what’s happening beneath the surface. Rich in money is far from the same thing as rich in peace, joy, and love.

Stop worrying about what other people think about you. What do YOU think about you? What do the people who love you for who you are think about you? And most importantly, what does GOD think about you? What does He call you in His Word? These are the voices that you should listen to. The rest is nothing but background noise.

Let God fight your battle. Life might not be easy in every moment. You may need to make important decisions, and sometimes you might not know what to do. If and when these moments come, be still and listen. Let God fight for you, because He’s already won this battle. Some of the trials that we face are simply a test, where God is asking us “Will you keep your faith in Me?” In everything, God is able. And in His timing, the perfect timing, every season will pass. And with each season, God will make you stronger in Him.

With lots of love,

– Your future, teenage self ♡

If you could say anything to your younger self, what would it be? Feel free to share your thoughts in the chat. I’m super excited to hear from you!

Thank you all so much for reading! Have a beautiful and blessed day, everyone! God bless you all! ♡

5 Ways to Stay Motivated (Reblog)

Hey everyone! I hope that you are having an amazing day, night, afternoon, or morning! You know, whether we are trying to do our best at school, get healthier, or just go through life and thrive, we all need to stay motivated. I mean, motivation is what pushes you to keep going, and not give up, even when things get tough. Without motivation (whether it’s from others or yourself), as well as determination, then I’m sure that we would have all given up on at least one or two things, in the past. ✨

This is exactly why I thought that it would be a great idea to discuss 5 Ways to Stay Motivated with you guys!

So, are you ready to get/stay motivated? Let’s get started!

  1. Surround yourself with a good support system.

It’s easy to give up when you have a goal if you don’t have anyone to support you. Usually, there is at least one or two people, even if it is God, that will be able to push you to reach your goals. If you do have a person or people like this in your life, then those are the people that you want to stick around. It can make some people feel more secure and confident when they have people that support them to the fullest, even if the group isn’t very large.

2. Put up motivational messages in your room or as your screensaver.

Perhaps you are the type of person that prefers to stay to themselves (which I personally think is a good thing). Then sometimes it’s best to just give yourself a little bit of motivation! Something that I enjoy doing is putting up motivational posters and decorations in my room. I also might add an inspirational quote or message to my screensaver! These are just little every day reminders that can help remind you how capable you are. And, let’s be real, a lot of us could use that reminder, sometimes!

3. Make the journey to your goal fun!

If you often aren’t motivated to do something, and you still have plenty of time to do it, this could be because you simply don’t enjoy it. Whatever your goal is, make sure that you try to make it fun. And sure, I know that doing homework or being on a diet probably aren’t the most enjoyable task. However, making games to help you practice your algebra problems, working with a friend, or giving yourself a sweet reward after you eat your vegetables can make the experience at least a little more enjoyable.

4. Separate your goals into small sections.

It’s a lot harder to be motivated to reach your goals when they are impossible to reach. It is a great idea to separate your goals into small sections or steps. Therefore, they will be easier to hit, and less likely to cause you to give up. For example, while writing my current novel, I try to set a do-able goal for myself (such as 100-250 words per day). This way, I don’t get discouraged, and I can hit my goal without it taking 1,000 years! It’s a win-win!

5. Celebrate your successes and achievements. ✨

Did you just reach one of your goals? Well, celebrate that! You know, a lot of times, we can actually forget that we need to reward ourselves when we actually set a goal for ourselves, then achieve it! Besides, after the hard work that you likely did, you really do deserve it!

…Lol. ✨

Alrighty, everyone! I really hope that you enjoyed these 5 Ways to Stay Motivated! Never forget that whenever you set a goal, try to stay motivated. It will help you push through and reach your goals, even when it’s a struggle! Trust me, you will be happy that you did, in the end!

Have a happy, healthy, and amazing day, everyone! ✨

Rest Well – Words of Wisdom #4

Genesis 2:2-3 NIV (New International Version)
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

The words of wisdom in the Bible hold a lot of meaning. And this section, in particular, stands out to me, a lot.

I find it amazing that even God Himself: the Lord of lords and King of kings, rested on the seventh day. He worked during the first six days–He created the world and everything in the world. And when He was done, He rested.

Now, we notice that the Bible just calls the Sabbath day “the seventh day.” We can conclude that this is technically Saturday, the seventh and last day of the week. While this is important, what I really want you to know is “Sabbath” means a day of rest or absence from work.

We don’t all have the same exact schedule–some people are off of work on Saturday, and others on Sunday. Some factors are simply out of our control. What matters is that when our time allows we take a break from work, and rest. That will likely be a day or two out of the week. It doesn’t have to be a lengthy period of time.

When we get our rest, we aren’t only resting our bodies, but also our minds. If we’re always on the go, then we will eventually get burnt out.

It’s just like how our bodies need sleep everyday–if we don’t get it, they can malfunction. That’s just how God made us.

We need at least one day out of the week as a break from work to regain our energy. As we work, we should put in our absolute best effort. In order to continue that same mindset, we need to take care of ourselves, too.

So it’s okay to take a rest from time to time. When we do our best work: good work, then a break is well deserved.

And if God rested, then we can, and should, too.

Have a beautiful and blessed day, everyone! What you think about rest? ❤️

Why positive affirmation is critical…

Everybody needs some positive motivation here and there. When we are motivated, we are driven to create and reach our goals with both engagement and tremendous effort. If motivation wasn’t a thing, how would we get things done? Specifically the things that we don’t always want to do.

Motivation is inevitable. It can come from just about anyone, anything, and anywhere. It could be a well deserved pat on the back or a kiss on the cheek. We can even give ourselves a dose of motivation. Particularly with a tool that I like to call positive affirmation.

I’ve been trying to personalize my workspace, a bit more, so I decided to print some motivational quotes that I can read to myself everyday. Although I just put it up on my bulletin board (after customizing it to add some personal touches) it definitely helps me start my morning off to a great start.

If you have a good support system, then that is a wonderful thing. However, motivational words can’t always really sink in unless you believe them, yourself. You have to have faith, too. This is exactly where the positive affirmation, or positive self-talk, comes in.

Some ways to practice positive affirmation include:

  • Putting up positive messages around your workspace or room.
  • Repeating uplifting sentences when you are getting ready for the day. The more you say it, the more you can start to believe it, increasing your self confidence.
  • Using sentences that start with “I am” or “I can” followed by a positive trait about yourself or a personal goal.
  • Remain optimistic, even through possible bumps in the road.
  • Put in your best effort to reach your goals. Believe that you can reach them.

Using positive affirmation in your daily life may take some time. And when you’ve mastered it, there’s no going back! Just remember that whatever you set your mind to, even if it seems impossible at times, with your best effort and just a little faith, you can surely succeed. You just have to believe it.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

5 Things to Do When You’re Bored (at Home) – Reblog

Note: Hey, y’all! Here’s a reblog post about things that you can do at home when you’re bored. Happy Birthday to Dr. Martin Luther King) as well as a family member, of mine,) 🎉🎉🎉

What’s up, my amazing audience! I just wanted to thank all of your support! I really appreciate all that you do to help my website grow. It really means so much to me, and I just wanted to take some time to show you my appreciation! ✨

Okay, so has there ever been a time that you didn’t know what to do? I mean, you knew you wanted to do something, but every activity that went across your mind sounded like a snooze fest. Well, folks, that means that you were bored.

I mean, it’s completely normal. Everyone has been bored at least once in their life. Especially during COVID, since we all have to stay at home. It’s because of this that I wanted to talk to you guys about some things that you can do when you are bored. Besides, no one wants to stare at their ceiling all day.

So, let’s get into it!

  1. Start your own journal. ✨

Creating a diary or a journal is a great way to document your life and share your feelings without having to tell anyone else about your deepest secrets. It is also a great way to spend your time. I mean, if you have a fun activity to do, that allows you to make memories and improve your writing skills, then why not go for it?

2. Read a book. ✨

If you are like me, and you love to read, or you are just trying to read more, venturing into a great story can be a great way to kill some time. It’s a fun and educational activity. Plus, I’m sure your parent(s) will be pleased when they see you diving into a great new novel.

3. Try making something. ✨

Whether it’s making a bracelet, a gift for family or a friend, or maybe even your own game, using your creativity to make something new can be really fun! Being creative gives you a chance to think out of the box, and you never know, you might be able to make your own product one day!

4. Take a nap.

If I have nothing else to do, there’s almost nothing that I love more then taking a nice, long nap. For one, it’s a great way to spend your time after a long day. And, when you wake up, you feel super refreshed and full of energy! Believe me, when what seems like all else fails to quench your boredom, a nap is a great way to go!

5. Give each of your family members a kiss and/or hug. ✨

Trust me, the saying that ‘actions speak louder than words’ is true, in most instances. Just by giving your family members or friends a short hug can make them feel really special. If there’s nothing else that you can think of to spend your time, then why not show the ones you love how much they mean to you?

Okay, everyone! I really hope that you enjoyed those 5 Things to Do When You’re Bored. Finding things to do can be hard, sometimes. So, I hope that with these tips, you will never be bored again (or…at least not as much.) 😀

Have an amazing, loving, and one-of-a-kind day, amazing people! ✨

The Importance of Mental Wellness + Tips on How to Maintain It

When is the last time you asked yourself, “How am I doing?”

Read that again.

Usually, people will wait for someone else to ask them that question: “How are you doing?” But every now and again, we need to repeat those exact words to ourselves. Think about it like this: even if someone did ask you that question, how would you know how to honestly answer if you’ve never thought about it, yourself?

Quick yet thoughtful self-checks like this can help you maintain a positive mindset, as well as acknowledge your emotions and need for some extra love and support, if this is the case.

Even though life has its ups and downs, it is more than possible (and fun) to take care of yourself and keep your mentality in a good place.

One of the things that you can do to achieve this is be honest with yourself about what you are feeling. As long as you continue to be proactive, your mind, body, and spirit will thank you.

Just in case you want some extra assistance on how to maintain a productive healthy mentality, here are some tips:

  • Learn to value yourself and the things that make you unique.
  • Surround yourself with people who truly love and respect you for who you are.
  • Study the Bible, and gain wisdom from other’s experiences.
  • Make sure your diet includes protein, vitamins, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Avoid trying to fill a void with things that aren’t good for your health.
  • Get plenty of sleep (at least 8 hours per day.)

Practicing good mental health is a wonderful form of self care, and not as complicated as some may think. For the most part, all you have to do is practice good habits (self love, healthy diet, good influences, etc.) and your mental health is set up for success!

Have a happy day, everyone! ✨

How to Maintain Mental Wellness During the Christmas Season | Blogmas Day 11

When Christmas comes around, there is lots of cheer in the air. It’s usually the season where most people are in their best mood. There’s just something about this time of year that can easily make you smile!

However, there are many people who may be in need of some cheering up at the end of each year. It’s important that even through this pandemic, we take the time to pay attention to how we are feeling, and make sure that our mental wellness is in check.

If you are in need of a mental wellness check, this list should help to put that Christmas cheer in your spirit!

  • Do what you can. Nothing more, nothing less. – It’s easy to want to do more with and for your friends and family, but even more so during the Christmas season. At the same time, we need to make sure that we are mentally and physically healthy. It’s okay if you can’t do everything that you planned (gifts, get togethers, etc,) Don’t be too hard on yourself, as your effort and heart is what matters most.

  • Get your exercise – One reason why we can feel a little in need of some sunshine is because we are in need of exercise. When was the last time that you took a walk outside? If the answer is anything other than recently, it’s a good idea to take a walk and get some exercise! When our bodies get the attention that they need, we can instantly have a boost in our mood!

  • Talk to someone you trust – If there’s anything that I know about the holidays (and there’s a lot of things) it’s that one of the many joys of Christmas is family. Talk to anyone that you know and trust, share your feelings with them, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

  • Make sure your goals are realistic – While being a perfectionist and a goal-setter is a good thing, make sure that your goals are reachable. Making realistic goals isn’t a weakness, and it doesn’t mean that you are giving up. It’s actually a strength, as it means that you know yourself and what you are able to do, at the moment.

  • Speak positively – In all things, we need to make sure that what we speak is positive. Our words float in the atmosphere, and can have a huge effect on our emotions. Therefore, say uplifting, positive, and happy things. You will soon find that this same cheery frame of mind will begin to rub off on you and your energy.

Remember that when it comes to mental health, positivity, sharing your feelings, and being realistic can be a few of the stepping stones of improvement. These skills can take practice, but after awhile, the pep in your step is sure to return!

Have a beautiful day! 🌻

Top 5 Christmas Traditions that Help Make the Holidays Memorable | Blogmas Day 9

Top 5 Christmas Traditions that Help Make the Holidays Memorable

-ajoyfulchristianteen ⭐

Christmas is a special holiday, filled with love, family, joy, giving and sometimes gifts. While there are so many things that make this day special, there is nothing like the Christmas traditions. These activities that many people do each year to celebrate can make amazing memories and allow for quality time with our families and friends.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite Christmas traditions ! ⭐️

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Every year, me and Goodmommy never forget to set up a festive Christmas tree. It’s just so satisfying to add our personality to it with unique ornaments and garlands to add a little texture. And that final angel or star on top wraps it all together like a bow does a gift. To me, Christmas trees are one of the best ways to light up our home with the Spirit of Christmas.

Christmas Movie Marathon

Sitting on the couch, binging classic and new Christmas movies is definitely a favorite in my house! The nostalgia that I get, and the laughter that it causes is so memorable, and a huge part of the reason for why it’s a tradition. Hallmark Christmas movies are our favorites to splurge on as soon as November begins!

Advent Calendars

I think that advent calendars are so whimsical, and bring even more excitement to the holidays as you wait for Christmas Day to arrive. The suspense from not knowing what trinket you’ll receive next makes them so fun to have. Especially as a family.

Gingerbread Houses

A good gingerbread house can definitely be a joy, especially when you have a close family member or friend by your side. Sure, they can be a little tricky, and messy, to put together, but it’s super fun to look at your work, when you’re done. And the best part? They’re edible, of course!

Christmas Dinner

When Christmas Day finally arrives, the anticipation is over. Me and my whole family get together, and we have a wonderful Christmas dinner. A huge part of Christmas is spending time with family, so any tradition that centers around my loved ones is one of my favorites.

Christmas traditions are simply ways that we celebrate the Christmas season. To be honest, these examples are just a glimpse of the many things that you can do with your family this time of year. The list is almost endless with many festive possibilities!

Have a blessed day, y’all! ✨

My Favorite Posts that I Believe Everyone Can Enjoy

My Favorite Posts that I Believe Everyone Can Enjoy

-ajoyfulchristianteen 💜

Hey everyone! Believe it or not, I’ve written over 125 posts on my blog! What a blessing! And, to be honest, although I think every post is great, some of them stand out to me. I really want to make sure that people who need them are able to read my encouraging words.

Today, I will be sharing some of my favorite posts on my blog, The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen, that I believe everyone can enjoy!

1 Month, 1 Pic – 2021 Selfies

I really like this post, because I got to see all my selfies together (one pic for each month of 2021 until November) and see the person that I’ve become this year. I think I’m improving in so many ways, but in others, I have stayed exactly the same! Memories are everything!

5 Things to Consider if You’re Holding a Grudge

I think that we all need to sit back and just think sometimes. Holding grudges are not uncommon in places all around the world, and I really wanted to share why I think that doing so is unproductive in more ways then one. These are the type of posts where I step back and think about what I’m writing. It’s important to me that I can connect to what I’m telling my readers.

A Teenager’s Ultimate Guide to Fashion

If you can’t already tell, I absolutely love fashion! Not only do I enjoy it, but I also love seeing other people smile when they feel confident in their outfits. I love how this post really went in depth with the topic of fashion, and explained how everyone, teenager or not, should wear clothes that make them look and feel amazing!

20 Inspiring Quotes to Boost Your Self Esteem

This is absolutely one of my favorite posts. I really enjoyed researching quotes by public figures, that many people look up to share their wisdom. I love to talk about self esteem and self love, since I feel like it is so lacking in society, especially in my generation (Generation Z). I think the quotes that I was lead to include hold a lot of truth and power in a nutshell.

5 Qualities that I Value in a True Friend

Real friends are rare these days, and when you have one or a few, it’s important that you cherish them. Although everyone is not a friend, I believe God’s Word to be true, which says, “but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

I hope you all liked me explaining which posts I hold dear to my heart, as well as my explanation of why. Feel free to go check out the links of each post (or the headings) if you haven’t read some of the other pages on my blog already. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a beautiful day, y’all! 💜

My Favorite Reading Spot

I’m pretty sure all book lovers have a favorite reading spot. Even though I’ll read just about anywhere, there is always that one place where reading feels the most natural. The words just fly off the page, and you are transported into a world filled with life-like characters.

Although we all have that special spot, mine is the couch in my living room. It’s right next to two huge windows, so it feels and looks amazing when the sunshine flows in. And, if I’m in the mood to read at night, there’s a convenient lamp set right next to it!

Besides the amazing lighting, I also love how this spot is super peaceful, and gives me that serene feel that I love while reading. Not to mention that it’s in the comfort of my own home, and since I’m a homebody, it’s even more perfect!

Over Thanksgiving break, I’ve been reading and adaption of the classic Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, and I must admit, I understand the hype! So, have your eyes on the lookout for yet another book review!

Overall, this spot is and probably will always be one of my favorite places to read. Although, I will admit that my comfy bed is up on the list, as well, lol. 😋
