A poem to women and girls around the world: Happy International Women’s Day ♡

March 8th is also known as International Women’s Day: a day to acknowledge women and girls, God’s creations, as well as their contributions, progress, advances, and value in today’s world as we know it. Although every day is International Women’s Day, this is yet another opportunity for us to come together and celebrate each other, just as we are, in love.

Of course, I had to slide some Bible scriptures in here. It’s always nice to hear some words of wisdom. Here are a few empowering Bible Verses about women and their strength in the Lord. I hope you enjoy! ❤

Proverbs 31:26
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

Luke 1:45
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

1 Corinthians 11: 11-12
Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.

1 Corinthians 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

Last but not least is the poem that I wrote today for (and to) women and girls around the world to read with loving and hopeful hearts. I absolutely LOVE poetry, so it’s always exciting when God gives me a new idea to write something new. All Rights Reserved.

Some may think we aren't strong enough
That we must be stout to sit at the front end
But that's far from the big picture, you see
What they may break, we can mend

For although we might not have muscles
That can strike the hardest of steel
We do have the mentality and grace
To love, to nurture, and to heal

Love that's true, love that's real
Love that's in a home cooked meal
A hug and a kiss to seal
Love that no one can conceal

And, yes, we are feminine
But that doesn't mean we're weak
We come in many shapes and forms
And even when we're silent, we speak

Sure, we are different;
Me and you aren't the same
Nor our backgrounds, hometowns, and kin
Nor our names or our frames
But no need to be disdained

Let's come together
Celebrate each other
Love one another
As we would a sister or brother

For, although we’re not the same
At the end of the day
No one can take away our love
Because love always wins
And we’re all sisters beneath the skin

Thank you all so much for reading! Please take this time to share your gratitude to all of the wonderful, strong, and powerful women in your lives who are always there; every step of the way. I definitely thank God for the woman of God that He’s put in the place to raise me with Him. And you see, that’s what this day is about–appreciating the woman who have treated us with kindness and passed their wisdom from the Lord to the next generation.

My FIRST time drawing a still life…

Happy Saturday! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you might be aware that I shared what I got for Christmas of 2021 (post link here). To be honest, there are still a couple of items that I hadn’t used, at this point, so I wanted to change that, today.

One of my favorite gifts from last year was this “Drawing Techniques” art kit. Inside it provides a book of instructions about different types of pencils, focal points, lighting, shading, value, and the list goes on.

It also gives step-by-step instructions for how you can draw realistic portraits that vary from fruit to flowers to animals to people. It also includes a variety of pencils, a kneaded eraser, a sketchbook, a fineliner, charcoals, and more! As soon as I opened this gift from the wrapping paper, I knew that I would definitely put it to good use.

Suddenly it dawned on me that it’s already February and I haven’t completed any of the sketch tutorials. So today, I reviewed the tools, materials, and basics at the beginning of the book, and moved on to the first drawing section: still lifes.

The beginning still life was one apple in 3 different positions. I had never drew a still life before (aside from 3D shapes for math class) so I thought this would be a great way to practice my ability to create realism in my work.

So, here is the basic sketch. It was very interesting to use 3 different pencils (you will see the different shades of pencil in the finished product) to create dimension and make the apples look like they are round.

Afterwards, I followed the guide in the instruction manual (basically the images) and started shading in the apples to add a little more depth. I must admit that it was a little tricky to draw 3D objects on a 2D surface, but it was a challenge that I quite enjoyed.

And voilà—here is my finished product. I must admit, I think I did a pretty good job for my first time ever drawing a still life. If this post gets enough likes (I’ll say at least 3-5) then I think I’ll makes my products from this art kit—and maybe even some personal projects—for you all to view. Please follow me if you’d like to see more of my art in the future.

Question of the Day: Have you ever photographed, painted, or drew a still life? If so, did you like the experience? Please comment down below.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a beautiful and blessed day, y’all! ✨

7 Tips on How to Read More

Some of you may already be aware that one of my goals for this year, 2022, was to read more, as I realized that I didn’t read many novels in 2021. It’s not that I ever stopped loving to read, but I was busy with school, clubs, my blog, and family time. The time by so quickly, and before I knew it the year was over.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m not the only one that wants to begin to read more. What I love about every day is that each one gives you a chance to improve and set goals to support a more productive lifestyle with the activities that we love.

So here’s a few tips on how to read more. ✨

Be realistic. While wanting to read more is a wonderful resolution, it is important that we be realistic with how many books we can fit into our schedule. Consider all the duties that you have and how much time of leisure you have every week. This will make your goal for how much you want to read more possible and reachable.

Take baby steps. Just because you want to step up your reading game doesn’t mean you didn’t read at all last year. It’s possible that you read 3 books last year. This year, you might want to read 5. What I’m trying to say is, increase your goal in baby steps to avoid getting overwhelmed. Reading is fun, but its important that you also make time for family, friends, your other hobbies and rest.

Keep books in the rooms you spend the most time in. Sometimes it may be harder to read more when there are no books within arm’s reach. Try to add a bookshelf in your room or office and constantly keep a book on your desk, during the day. It will be easier to finish books more often if you keep one in front of you, at all times.

Consider replacing some phone time with reading time. After school, it’s only natural to want to check your phone. However, instead of spending the multitude of your time off of work/school on electronics, use some of that time to read.

Join a group or club of other readers. Personally, I am in a book club where we read one book a month. At the end of the month, we come together to discuss how we felt about it. It can be a great experience to surround yourself with a community of peers who have similar interests and hobbies.

Read works of your favorite genre(s). I find it much easier to get through a book quickly when it is of the genres that I favor. When reading your preferred genre, it will likely be right up your alley. Books that are the most relatable, memorable, and appeal to our emotions and likes tend to be the ones that we can read in just a couple of days.

Don’t be afraid to try audiobooks. Truly, life can occasionally get too busy for us to sit down and read. If you happen to be someone who is always on the go but would still like to get engaged in literature, then consider purchasing audiobooks (a recording of a book that is read aloud to you.) Not only are audiobooks very convenient, but you may also find some book recordings (specifically for classic books) for free on YouTube. Awesome, am I right?

Finding time for reading may be a little bit of a challenge. But one of the many benefits of the constant technological advances is that we now have so many options for how we can read–there’s no one way. I hope you enjoyed this fairly quick read and that you will reach all of your reading goals. All it takes is some faith, effort and time, and we can–and will–succeed.

Have a beautiful and blessed day everyone! ✨

5 Ways to Stay Motivated (Reblog)

Hey everyone! I hope that you are having an amazing day, night, afternoon, or morning! You know, whether we are trying to do our best at school, get healthier, or just go through life and thrive, we all need to stay motivated. I mean, motivation is what pushes you to keep going, and not give up, even when things get tough. Without motivation (whether it’s from others or yourself), as well as determination, then I’m sure that we would have all given up on at least one or two things, in the past. ✨

This is exactly why I thought that it would be a great idea to discuss 5 Ways to Stay Motivated with you guys!

So, are you ready to get/stay motivated? Let’s get started!

  1. Surround yourself with a good support system.

It’s easy to give up when you have a goal if you don’t have anyone to support you. Usually, there is at least one or two people, even if it is God, that will be able to push you to reach your goals. If you do have a person or people like this in your life, then those are the people that you want to stick around. It can make some people feel more secure and confident when they have people that support them to the fullest, even if the group isn’t very large.

2. Put up motivational messages in your room or as your screensaver.

Perhaps you are the type of person that prefers to stay to themselves (which I personally think is a good thing). Then sometimes it’s best to just give yourself a little bit of motivation! Something that I enjoy doing is putting up motivational posters and decorations in my room. I also might add an inspirational quote or message to my screensaver! These are just little every day reminders that can help remind you how capable you are. And, let’s be real, a lot of us could use that reminder, sometimes!

3. Make the journey to your goal fun!

If you often aren’t motivated to do something, and you still have plenty of time to do it, this could be because you simply don’t enjoy it. Whatever your goal is, make sure that you try to make it fun. And sure, I know that doing homework or being on a diet probably aren’t the most enjoyable task. However, making games to help you practice your algebra problems, working with a friend, or giving yourself a sweet reward after you eat your vegetables can make the experience at least a little more enjoyable.

4. Separate your goals into small sections.

It’s a lot harder to be motivated to reach your goals when they are impossible to reach. It is a great idea to separate your goals into small sections or steps. Therefore, they will be easier to hit, and less likely to cause you to give up. For example, while writing my current novel, I try to set a do-able goal for myself (such as 100-250 words per day). This way, I don’t get discouraged, and I can hit my goal without it taking 1,000 years! It’s a win-win!

5. Celebrate your successes and achievements. ✨

Did you just reach one of your goals? Well, celebrate that! You know, a lot of times, we can actually forget that we need to reward ourselves when we actually set a goal for ourselves, then achieve it! Besides, after the hard work that you likely did, you really do deserve it!

…Lol. ✨

Alrighty, everyone! I really hope that you enjoyed these 5 Ways to Stay Motivated! Never forget that whenever you set a goal, try to stay motivated. It will help you push through and reach your goals, even when it’s a struggle! Trust me, you will be happy that you did, in the end!

Have a happy, healthy, and amazing day, everyone! ✨

Radiant in red to honor heart disease victims

As you all know (if you saw yesterday’s post, that is) today is National Wear Red Day! Yesterday, I wrote about the reason behind National Wear Red Day—to honor the women and men who have passed due to heart disease and/or stroke. I also explained what we can do as support towards the strides to lower these statistics. And one of the most predominant strategies that I mention was wearing red!

But, of course, it wasn’t enough to just say what we can do to support this amazing cause: I wanted to put my words in action. Check out me and Goodmommy looking radiant in red as a tribute to American Heart Month.

Of course, we had to do our normal routine and take an entire photo shoot once we got home, LOL. But I’m happy that we were able to make a statement through both fashion and color: two different methods of expression that blend to a tee.

Any time with Goodmommy is a treat, but we sure had a lot of fun going out today. Even though we mostly did just errands, Goodmommy was super sweet to buy us both a strawberry milkshake with red cherries on top. We didn’t actually eat the cherries. But the color of our milkshakes were pink, a color in the same family as red. So technically, we second-handedly added another red(ish) element to our National Wear Red Day.

I hope you enjoyed this quick read. Hopefully, you had fun celebrating National Wear Red Day, as well!

Have a beautiful, blessed, and red day, y’all! God is Good! ❤️✨❤️

Why positive affirmation is critical…

Everybody needs some positive motivation here and there. When we are motivated, we are driven to create and reach our goals with both engagement and tremendous effort. If motivation wasn’t a thing, how would we get things done? Specifically the things that we don’t always want to do.

Motivation is inevitable. It can come from just about anyone, anything, and anywhere. It could be a well deserved pat on the back or a kiss on the cheek. We can even give ourselves a dose of motivation. Particularly with a tool that I like to call positive affirmation.

I’ve been trying to personalize my workspace, a bit more, so I decided to print some motivational quotes that I can read to myself everyday. Although I just put it up on my bulletin board (after customizing it to add some personal touches) it definitely helps me start my morning off to a great start.

If you have a good support system, then that is a wonderful thing. However, motivational words can’t always really sink in unless you believe them, yourself. You have to have faith, too. This is exactly where the positive affirmation, or positive self-talk, comes in.

Some ways to practice positive affirmation include:

  • Putting up positive messages around your workspace or room.
  • Repeating uplifting sentences when you are getting ready for the day. The more you say it, the more you can start to believe it, increasing your self confidence.
  • Using sentences that start with “I am” or “I can” followed by a positive trait about yourself or a personal goal.
  • Remain optimistic, even through possible bumps in the road.
  • Put in your best effort to reach your goals. Believe that you can reach them.

Using positive affirmation in your daily life may take some time. And when you’ve mastered it, there’s no going back! Just remember that whatever you set your mind to, even if it seems impossible at times, with your best effort and just a little faith, you can surely succeed. You just have to believe it.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

7 Tips for Blogging Consistently (and Efficiently)

Hey, y’all! While blogging is a very fun and rewarding way to help others, it can be tough to come up with new content for your viewers. Any good blogger wants their content to inspire and inform others, while giving people someone to relate to. Regardless of how much we blog, we want to make each post a good read, but it might not always easy to constantly come up with new things to post.

If you are struggling with being more consistent on your platform, feel free to look at these tips, stating how YOU can blog both consistently and efficiently.

1.) Do Your Research – A great method if you want to know what’s currently getting a lot of traffic is doing your research. Search for what topics are popular during the current season, month, year, etc. Pay attention to what type of blog you have (fashion, religion, lifestyle, motherhood, etc.) as well as what topics interest you. While paying attention to what people currently like to read is good, I want to stress that this doesn’t limit you from coming up with your own, new ideas. You can start a new trend, too.

2.) Write Everything Down – It’s funny how when we sit down to write something, it can take a few minutes to think about what we want to write. Meanwhile, great ideas can randomly pop into our heads when we’re doing everyday tasks. If you ever get an idea, find one designated space (either virtually or in a journal) to jot down your thoughts. This way, anytime you might get writers block, it will be a source that you may use to break that cycle.

3.) Listen to Your Audience – Unless you’ve just began your blogging journey (which I congratulate you for starting), chances are you’ve already gained an audience. Whether that audience is big or small, its important that we pay attention to which posts our readers seem to enjoy, most of all. What type of content gets the most likes, positive comments, and overall attention? If you know what your viewers like the most, then it will be much easier to find things to write about.

4.) Make Content with Respect to what You are Passionate About – Coming up with blog post ideas can be a lot harder if you aren’t writing about things that you truly take an interest in. A lot of people want to read the blog of someone who is raw, realistic, and is doing what they love–and you can identify whether someone loves what they are writing about by reading their work. As long as you make content about what makes you happy, the right audience will come.

5.) Keep in Mind that Less can be More – A lot of times, we may try to make a post that’s super detailed and long. But in reality, people don’t want to read a 3,000 word blog post–especially not if you are a daily blogger. It’s best to keep your content under 1,500 words per post. This way, you can focus more on the purpose for each post rather then how long it will be. Remember, nobody has to read your posts–it’s part of our jobs as writers to reel our readers in so they’ll want to read them.

6.) Use National Days as Inspiration (especially lifestyle blogs) – Okay. So this is a method that I use all the time. In fact, I think I need to make it a category. There is literally a National Day for everything. I mean, you think it and there will probably be a day for it. The options stretch from Celebration of Life Day, to National Umbrella Day to World Poetry Day to Celebrity Birthdays. I personally use nationaltoday.com to get detailed descriptions on the multiple national days of every single day of the year. It is definitely a great tool for any blogger that struggles with making constant new, yet exciting content.

7.) Organization and Readability is Key – A good blog post should be organized and easy to read. You don’t want your words to be so long that they cause your audience to x-out the page, scratching their heads. We want our point to come across well, and the best way to do that is by making our words easy to understand. Some ways that you can keep good organization in your posts include using bullet points and numbered lists, using correct punctuation, rereading each post and separating your writing into short paragraphs (no more than 150-200 words each.)

Wow! That was a lot to write, but I enjoyed it. Blogging (and writing) are forms of self-expression. As artists, we should use our writing as an outlet to express ourselves and our passions. A great blog comes in many forms, but just remember in all things to make sure that your writing is true to who you are. What is the reason why you started a blog in the first place? If you stay efficiently consistent, I’m sure your blog will be getting a lot more acknowledgement very soon. :))

Have a blessed day, y’all. Peace in! ✨

How to Stay Organized as a Virtual Student

Something really important to me as a student that does work at home, and has been for 5 years, is organization. When my workspace is organized, I automatically feel more productive and I can remain focused on the tasks at hand. A clean space can also cause for a clean sense of concentration that will make it easier for anyone to study.

The only catch is organization is not an easy task for everyone. If you happen to be one of these people, don’t worry! I’ve got some great tips for you to help you learn how you can stay productive and confident while completing your work.

Choose a designated workspace.

This first point is a big one, and I’ll explain why: If you don’t have one fixed space where you always come to in order to study and get your work completed, it’s easy to loose track of supplies, notebooks, and other items you may need.

When you have a designated space to work, everything is where you left it, therefore making your whole study experience more enjoyable and a lot less of a hassle.

Have a calendar and/or planner handy.

Personally, I have a lot of appointments, club meetings, and live classes that I like to (and sometimes have to) attend for school.

Let. Me. Tell. You. As far as material items go, planners and calendars can be a homeschooler’s best friend. Not only do they easily allow you to document all of your to-dos, but it can also give you a peace of mind: you won’t have to remember everything by yourself. All you’ll have to do is take a look at your calendar or planner.

Take lots of notes. Organized notes.

Note-taking is a great technique if you want to get a good review of the Module or Segment before a test, and they can be extremely productive, as long as they are organized. There may even be note resources that your school provides, so if that’s available, take full advantage of that! In order to create organized notes, take a look at these bonus tips:

  • Separate your binders and notebooks by course. Every course needs a designated notebook.
  • When you do a new lesson, start a new page.
  • Write down lists with bullet points (the dots before each sentence in this list.)
  • Use highlighters to make key points stand out.
  • Organize the text by headings, always making sure to label each page with a title, explaining which lesson it covers.

Create and maintain a routine.

Things can get a little “messy” when you don’t have a routine. Without some type of schedule, there’s no specific time when you need to wake up, do your work, and meet the necessary attendance requirements your school has in place.

It’s best to create a routine where you set an alarm for when you wake up and have a time frame or fixed goal for how long you need to work or how many assignments you will submit every day. I love this method, as not only does it help create productivity in our academic lives, but it can also help us make time for family, friends, clubs, and other extracurricular activities.

Eat breakfast before you start working.

Usually, I aim to wake up 60-90 minutes before I actually start doing my work for the day. I have to clean the beds in my house, plus eat breakfast, all before I “go to school.”

Therefore, waking up a decent (but not too large) amount of time before your work begins will give you time for a nutritious breakfast to get your mind moving and start off the day strong! A good attitude is a HUGE factor in productivity, no matter how or where you learn.

Take breaks.

While a lot of people would guess that homeschoolers don’t actually have to work, I’m sure me and you know otherwise. It’s possible to spend 4-5 hours every day, Monday through Friday, working in order to complete all of our assignments.

In order to prevent fatigue, take at least one 30-minute break every day that you do your work for over 4 hours. It gives you an opportunity to get a healthy lunch, rejuvenating your energy, hence helping get you through the day.

Hopefully, this list of tips was a great help to anyone who works at home and needs some guidance on how to get and stay organized. Remember, as long as you have determination, a good attitude, and good organization, your online education is sure to be successful.

Have a great day, y’all! ✨

A Go-To Guide on How to Make Successful New Year’s Resolutions | Blogmas Day 16

A Go-To Guide on How to Make Successful New Year’s Resolutions

-ajoyfulchristianteen 🎉

While every year is a blessing, no year is perfect. Therefore, many people find themselves wanting to change something and do better the next year. These targets that we set for ourselves as January comes around are called New Year’s Resolutions.

Making these resolutions are a method to practice reaching your goals and bettering yourself as a person, and they are very healthy ways to start off a new year. But there’s one catch: they aren’t always easy to write and do successfully.

Here’s a helpful guide on how to effectively write New Year’s Resolutions that are reachable, productive, and purposeful!

  • Pick a few, realistic resolutions – Many people will fill a sheet of paper or more with resolutions that they might not finish as the year comes to an end. If you are a goal-getter, then go for it! However, it might be a better idea to pick a few goals (realistic ones). This will allow you to focus more on each specific resolution, rather than juggling a dozen. The least we want to do with our resolutions is put ourselves in a crunch.
  • Start preparing ahead of time. Physically and mentally – Truthfully, change can be a hard thing. Resolutions are essentially changes, some of which can be stopping an addiction or an unhealthy habit. Whatever your resolution(s) are, take the time before January to prepare yourself for your goals. It might help to slowly start your goal beforehand, that way your mind and body has some time to adjust to the unfamiliar changes.
  • Write them down Believe it or not, we can easily forget things if we don’t write them down. Having documentation of your goals, especially with a signature, is an agreement with yourself that you will push through and complete your resolutions. Not only that, but it is a visual way to help you remember what you want to do for the year.
  • Be specific – Often, when making our resolutions, we tend to speak about our goals in general. However, in order to set a stable path for success, you need to be specific with your details, making sure that you know exactly what you will be doing, and by when you want to complete each resolution.

Here are some examples of general vs. specific New Year’s Resolutions:

  • “I want to lose weight.” vs. “I want to lose 50 pounds by Christmas Day of (insert year.)”
  • “I want to have a healthier diet.” vs. “I want to eat 2 cups of vegetables every day from this day, (insert date), forward.”
  • “I want to save more money.” vs. “I will only go on a shopping spree (for unnecessary items) a maximum of once a month in the year of (insert year.)
  • Explain your resolutions to a confidant. – Some resolutions might be private, and if so, that’s okay. But a good idea to help you remain determined is by telling your New Year’s Resolutions to a confidant (family member, friend, etc.) Doing so will help hold you accountable to your words, and the confidant of choice can help keep you on track!
  • Make large goals smaller by splitting them into sections. – While healthy goals are great, we as humans may try to put too much on our own shoulders. Instead of making long, complicated goals, split them into smaller sections.

Here is an example of how you can make a large goal smaller:

Main Goal: I want to loose 50 pounds in the year of (insert year.)

  • I will eat 2,000 calories per day.
  • I will exercise for at least 30 minutes every day.
  • I will loose 4 pounds, 2 ounces every month.
  • Be prepared to reward yourself. – If when the end of the year comes around, you have completed your goal, I can say one thing to you: Congratulations! It’s about time that you congratulate yourself with a healthy reward. You worked hard to reach your goal! Now that you have done what’s best for your health, it’s time to give yourself a pat on the back!

If you don’t remember anything else from this guide, keep in mind that change is an adjustment that takes getting used to. Change can be a good thing, however, with work, determination, and dedication, I’m sure that all of your resolutions will be met!

Have a beautiful day, everyone! 🎉

My Favorite Posts that I Believe Everyone Can Enjoy

My Favorite Posts that I Believe Everyone Can Enjoy

-ajoyfulchristianteen 💜

Hey everyone! Believe it or not, I’ve written over 125 posts on my blog! What a blessing! And, to be honest, although I think every post is great, some of them stand out to me. I really want to make sure that people who need them are able to read my encouraging words.

Today, I will be sharing some of my favorite posts on my blog, The Joys and Trials of a Christian Teen, that I believe everyone can enjoy!

1 Month, 1 Pic – 2021 Selfies

I really like this post, because I got to see all my selfies together (one pic for each month of 2021 until November) and see the person that I’ve become this year. I think I’m improving in so many ways, but in others, I have stayed exactly the same! Memories are everything!

5 Things to Consider if You’re Holding a Grudge

I think that we all need to sit back and just think sometimes. Holding grudges are not uncommon in places all around the world, and I really wanted to share why I think that doing so is unproductive in more ways then one. These are the type of posts where I step back and think about what I’m writing. It’s important to me that I can connect to what I’m telling my readers.

A Teenager’s Ultimate Guide to Fashion

If you can’t already tell, I absolutely love fashion! Not only do I enjoy it, but I also love seeing other people smile when they feel confident in their outfits. I love how this post really went in depth with the topic of fashion, and explained how everyone, teenager or not, should wear clothes that make them look and feel amazing!

20 Inspiring Quotes to Boost Your Self Esteem

This is absolutely one of my favorite posts. I really enjoyed researching quotes by public figures, that many people look up to share their wisdom. I love to talk about self esteem and self love, since I feel like it is so lacking in society, especially in my generation (Generation Z). I think the quotes that I was lead to include hold a lot of truth and power in a nutshell.

5 Qualities that I Value in a True Friend

Real friends are rare these days, and when you have one or a few, it’s important that you cherish them. Although everyone is not a friend, I believe God’s Word to be true, which says, “but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

I hope you all liked me explaining which posts I hold dear to my heart, as well as my explanation of why. Feel free to go check out the links of each post (or the headings) if you haven’t read some of the other pages on my blog already. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a beautiful day, y’all! 💜
