My FIRST time drawing a still life…

Happy Saturday! If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you might be aware that I shared what I got for Christmas of 2021 (post link here). To be honest, there are still a couple of items that I hadn’t used, at this point, so I wanted to change that, today.

One of my favorite gifts from last year was this “Drawing Techniques” art kit. Inside it provides a book of instructions about different types of pencils, focal points, lighting, shading, value, and the list goes on.

It also gives step-by-step instructions for how you can draw realistic portraits that vary from fruit to flowers to animals to people. It also includes a variety of pencils, a kneaded eraser, a sketchbook, a fineliner, charcoals, and more! As soon as I opened this gift from the wrapping paper, I knew that I would definitely put it to good use.

Suddenly it dawned on me that it’s already February and I haven’t completed any of the sketch tutorials. So today, I reviewed the tools, materials, and basics at the beginning of the book, and moved on to the first drawing section: still lifes.

The beginning still life was one apple in 3 different positions. I had never drew a still life before (aside from 3D shapes for math class) so I thought this would be a great way to practice my ability to create realism in my work.

So, here is the basic sketch. It was very interesting to use 3 different pencils (you will see the different shades of pencil in the finished product) to create dimension and make the apples look like they are round.

Afterwards, I followed the guide in the instruction manual (basically the images) and started shading in the apples to add a little more depth. I must admit that it was a little tricky to draw 3D objects on a 2D surface, but it was a challenge that I quite enjoyed.

And voilà—here is my finished product. I must admit, I think I did a pretty good job for my first time ever drawing a still life. If this post gets enough likes (I’ll say at least 3-5) then I think I’ll makes my products from this art kit—and maybe even some personal projects—for you all to view. Please follow me if you’d like to see more of my art in the future.

Question of the Day: Have you ever photographed, painted, or drew a still life? If so, did you like the experience? Please comment down below.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a beautiful and blessed day, y’all! ✨

The Story Of My Flying Beta Fish (Reblog)

Note: This is a sweet story about my flying beta fish, Joyus! I miss him so much, so I decided that I would reblog the post about him, and my other fish, Easter, today!

Hey guys! It’s Princess Q, back with another fun post! So, do any of you have pets? If you do or have had one, I’m sure that you know that pets pretty much become family to their owners. You may have a dog, cat, bird or maybe even a fish! No matter what type of pet you have, they are all just as amazing! ✨

Okay, so a dog would’ve been my first choice, but at this point in my life, I lived in an apartment, so we decided to get a beta fish! However, I don’t regret it, one bit. To be honest, these creatures are literally the mermaids of the sea. …Well, unless there is a such thing as actual mermaids.

So, anyway, me and my Goodmmommy (grandmother), decided to name her Easter, since we got her the day before Easter. She was a beautiful pink color. Although, we were never confirmed her gender, I can tell she was a girl because…well, keep reading to find out.

So, Easter was a great pet. She watched me while I slept next to her on the couch and she was really happy and joyful. Fast forward two years, and, at some point, she stopped eating. Now, being the Christians that we are, we obviously prayed that she would be healed. However, a few weeks later, she passed away.

I admit, I was super sad. Who wouldn’t be if their fish died? However, she died when I was in school (I was at in person school at that time, which was about 2015). Thankfully, my Goodmommy flushed her before I could see her in that state.

R.I.P. Easter! 💖💖

Okay, so shortly after (probably less than a year later), we got another beta fish, and we named him Joyus. This time, we knew that he was a male, since we saw it on the small container that he came in. He was a mix of different blues.

After we took him home, he was a lot like Easter, except more energetic. He watched me when I slept, he was always rambunctious and he almost never stopped moving. Thankfully, he never experienced any health issues, either.

He lived a super happy life…until a Friday that I remember quite vividly. This was in about 2016, and I had just started homeschooling. Therefore, my Goodmommy had to help me with doing my schoolwork until I got used to the system. Anyway, I had a lot to do, and I needed to get it done before 12:00 a.m. Saturday.

So, we were finishing my schoolwork, and on a break, we saw that Joyus’ tank was getting a little dirty. As a result, it was a natural reaction to go ahead and change his tank. Now, to change the tank, we would have another tank ready, right next to the dirty one. Then, we would take a net, and quickly pick up the fish from the dirty tank to the clean one. Now, this had never been a problem with Joyus or Easter until now.

Although we kept putting the net in, Joyus knew exactly what we were about to do. He kept trying to swim away from it. This was a surprise to us since, out of all the times that we’d changed the tank, he had never done this before. After a little bit of struggling, we finally scooped him up, but, to our shock, he flew out of the net!

Okay, so of course me and Goodmommy were in absolute panic! Meanwhile, Joyus was flipping and flopping on the kitchen counter. We tried to scoop him back into the net, but he was wobbling around so much that it was too difficult.

So, at this point, there was some soapy dishwater in the kitchen sink, and Joyus must have smelt it, because before we knew it, he had jumped in! Now, you would think getting in water would be a good thing, however, this was not the case, since;

  1. Beta fish need a special serum in the water to breath.
  2. This dish water was soapy, which is obviously filled with harmful chemicals.

Yep. You guessed it.

R.I.P. Joyus! 💖

Of course, I was devastated, and I still am disappointed to this day. However, when I think about it, I realize that Joyus was a really smart fish! I also know Easter had to be a girl. How do I know? Because, she would never fly out of her tank!

Okay, everyone! I really hope you enjoyed the story about My Flying Beta Fish! If you have any stories about your pets, please comment them down below!

Have a happy, healthy, and positive day, amazing people! ✨

This or That! #1🥳

What’s up y’all?!? Today, I decided that I’m going to do something different: play a game! And it’s called This or That! So, basically, what this means is I will list two options (for example, pink or white.) These options could be colors, food items, clothing styles, or whatever you can think of! ✨

Anyway, I’m going to have to choose which is my favorite! And, here’s the best part: you can play with me! Feel free to comment your answers down below!

So, let’s get started!

1. Pizza 🍕 or Burger 🍔?

Oof. This is tough. I’d say pizza though, since I feel like it’s something that I have only on certain occasions (every now and then), while I have burgers in my refrigerator, lol.

2. Leggings or Jeans? 👖

Well, this all depends on the time. However, I’ll say jeans because, even though traditionally, they aren’t as comfortable as leggings, I like to buy jeans with soft fabric. I also find them more fashionable. However, I think leggings are better if I’m looking for the maximum comfort.

3. Dog 🐶 or Sloth 🦥?

I know that this question may seem a little weird, but let me explain. When I was little, I always wanted a dog. But, they require you to go outside several times a day, etc. So, then we (me and my Goodmommy/grandmother) came upon the possibility of having a sloth…and now I’m obsessed! I really want one! So, yeah, I’d pick a sloth.

4. Pink 💕or Purple 💜?

I used to love pink when I was about 4-11. And, don’t get me wrong, I still do. I’m just not in love with it now to the point where I want everything in my room to be pink. So, I’d pick purple, even though pink is just as amazing.

5. Crayons 🖍 or Colored Pencils ✏️?

I’m sure that we all used crayons when we were little. However, I personally prefer colored pencils now. They allow you to have much more control and detail, which I pay much more attention to now then I did when I was in Pre-K, lol.

Hopefully, you all learned some more about me with the help of the This or That game! Please comment down below your answer to each question, and like this post if you want me to make a post of this game again! ✨

Have an amazing day, everyone!

Celebrating my Birthday #BirthdayVlog #Teenager

Hey everyone! Today, me and my Grandmother had an amazing time celebrating my birthday! I must admit, it was one of the best and most fun birthdays that I’ve ever had! In fact, I wanted to share all of the fun things that we did to celebrate with you all. ✨

And you know what makes it even better? I’m going to provide pictures in between!

So, let’s get this birthday party blog started!

First, I want to say that yesterday, my grandmother gave me these absolutely beautiful balloons. To be honest, the largest one was one of the biggest and most beautiful balloons that I had ever seen! Seriously, just look at the size of that thing!

I mean…the picture speaks for itself.

Okay, so that was amazing, but that wasn’t all that was in store for me! Afterwards, we went to the mall, and my grandmother got a beautiful bracelet for me. She also got me a charm. The front had a family tree on it, and the back said the words “Family is a circle of love.

Besides life, this is probably my favorite gift of this year’s birthday. My Goodmommy (a.k.a. grandmother) knows how much I love my family!

Me right after we picked up my bracelet. You can see my smile even with that mask on, lol. ✨

Afterwards, we went to a restaurant and had some delicious food. I got some chicken breast, a loaded potato, and some a French onion soup. Everything looked and tasted delicious. However, the most delicious part was…the bread!

Have you ever been to one of those restaurants where they can give you free bread before you get your food? Well, this was one of those restaurants! With a little bit of butter, the bread tasted even better! I had firsts, seconds, and the waiter was kind enough to give me and extra bag to go, lol.

Even though we took a lot of our food home, me and my Goodmommy both had a great time laughing and chatting during dinner.

Oof, I’m making myself hungry!

You would think that this was everything we did for my birthday, but it wasn’t! After eating, we both went to a store to get some cool items! I got a new sketchbook, AirPod holders, some scented pens and (non-scented) mechanical pencils for school and art class, two board games, etc.

After that, it was time to go home, and me and Goodmommy played a really exciting game of Jenga! It was one of my favorite parts of today!

It got pretty intense! Also, after a long game, Goodmommy won. But, I still had a great time! ✨

So, overall, I had a really fun birthday, and I’m glad that I got the opportunity to share it with you all! Comment down below what you love the most about birthdays!

Have a happy, healthy, and exciting day, everyone! ✨

Do You Like My Braids? #NaturalHair #BlackIsBeautiful

Hello, everyone! How has your day been? Today, I went to the hair salon and got a hairstyle that I really love! Read further to find out where the inspiration for my style came from! ✨

So let’s get started!

About 1-3 weeks ago, My Goodmommy redid her hair in braids that went to the side. Of course, I absolutely loved this hairdo, and wanted it for myself, as well. Of course, I had just gotten my hair done at that point, so I had to wait for three weeks to get my hair redid. Omg 😩

A day or two before my next hair appointment, my Goodmommy asked me what style I wanted. I was glad that she thought of asking me this, because I hadn’t figure that out yet. However, when I thought about it, which style do you think I picked?

Yep. The braids in a bun! ✨

This is how my hair looks after the stylist blow-dried and combed my hair. Yep, I have a lot of it, lol.

Overall, the experience was really enjoyable, especially since it was my first time getting a completely braided style at a salon. What I really love about braids, especially on natural hair, is they can last for up to 3 weeks, especially if you sit under the dryer for about 15 minutes!

This was especially convenient, considering that my birthday is coming up super soon! And, who doesn’t what their hair to be fashionably fashionable on their birthday, am I right?

I am absolutely in love with my natural hair! 💕

Okay, everyone, I really hope you enjoyed this blog post about my natural hair! ✨

Also, comment down below if you prefer me to post things like this, where I give you a glimpse of my real life, or when I provide tips and advice to you guys about different things. Maybe you like it when I do both! Whatever you prefer, please comment your opinion down below! If you like both, please let me know which one you want me to do more, and I’ll try my best to satisfy the requests!

Have a happy, healthy, and joyful day, everyone! ✨
